Homebodies spend less money! Yay

Stay home. Becoming a homebody might not sound like a lot of fun, but it really can be. I love staying home with my family. We can do all kinds of fun things at home. Or I can spend a day alone, if the family is at school, and really enjoy it. It’s quiet and peaceful, I can read or watch a good movie or respond to comments. Staying home can save tons, in eating out expenses, shopping expenses, gas, and incidentals. No, I am not hiding, I am saving money! Do you?

I love to be at home and I really love to be in my yard. I am so excited for the snow to be gone so that we can start planting things. I love to watch it all grow.

I'm a homebody and I agree that I save a lot of money for being one. For staying at home instead of going out I saved my transportation, eat-out, and movie allowance. But most of all I save a lot of money for not shopping....

Every time I walk into a store, even if I have a great list I always buy one or two things I didn need. Today I bought 3 things of candy and that adds up. It was movie candy for movie night this week though.

Yeah most of the time even though you have the list of things you will buy, certain things sometimes add up. Sometimes even I plan to go to the mall for a window shopping I end up buying a shirt or pants and it ruins my budget, that's why I would rather stay at home to clean or do gardening.

I love to stay at home. It has become my haven! I look forward to weekends and being able to sleep a little later and not dress for work. There are no schedules on the weekend and after I do the things I need to do, I can have some free time to chill, watch movies, catch up on freelance writing, family time, etc.

My home is my haven too. It is where I can be me and every one will love me for it. When I clean the house I dance. If the windows are open I dont. My kids love it when I feel like I am being laughed at when the world can see.

My husband makes all the money for our family. I am lucky that way. He supports us and I raise the kids. It was a hard choice to make because there was a lot in life that we could not have but it was so worth it. I have been home for 8 years now and I have loved it. I make small ammounts of money online but really I am here to talk to people and make new friends.

Yes, I agree with this. When we are at home, we are not enticed to spend much. We tend to budget everything including the food and other items present in the kitchen. This is really a good thing especially if you're with someone.

I wish my Hubby were a little more concerned with where our money went. I think it would save us a lot of money if we were both involved in the budget and planning.

I completely agree that the more time you spend at home you spend less money. However, I'm an outdoors person. If I'm inside for longer than an hour at a time I go nuts. Although I'm outside alot, I don't necessarily throw away cash. I enjoy working out so when bored I'll go for a run down the prairie path for an hour to keep myself busy

We love camping and cheap trips like that. It is fun t get away from all the distractions we have at home and we can do it and still stay on budget.

definitely... i love staying at home as well... i don't go out unless if i needed too... it is a waste of money... everytime i go out, i will definitely spend money... the least is on the meal... so nowadays with the prices of everything rising so much, i try my best to stay at home as much as i can to save on fuel as well... and yes, i can do lots of things at home... i can read, watch movie, surf the internet, and mylotting... instead of wasting money, i am saving money like you... well done...

We try to get out and have a family night or a date night if it is just me and the hubby once in a while but we keep it to a minimum and still keep track of what we are spending.

Oh, absolutely! No matter where you go, it costs money in one form or another. Even taking a drive and not stopping anywhere costs in gas (and we know that's gone through the roof!), and then even if you stop for a drink and a candy bar, there goes at least $2-3. If you just go 'window shopping', sometimes it's hard to resist a good sale, and while discounts are great, you wouldn't be spending the money at all if you hadn't gone out, right? My husband and I stick pretty close to home unless we're out running errands and getting the things we need. We rarely spend on anything that's not a necessity.

If you think about how much you make an hour and the look at how much that meal costs, was it really worth it? I dont think so.

Im a definate homebody, theres nothing that I like better.I think its right to say that we probably spend less being at thome.I only wander into the nearby town if I really need sometihng.I go out everyday for a wander, but im content enough at home.Today I dont feel like doing too much,so im just going to sit here for a while and type,im just going to have an easy tea,so not much preparation today. We have had a roast for the past two days so we will appreciate sometihng light.A lot will say that people who stay at home miss out on a lot ,but I dont think that we do,I like to listen to the radio, and watch television.I like my sewing and knitting and of course my typing.Like you I like the peace,we dont have any children at home now,so its usually peaceful.

We also try to do all of our trips in one car ride so we dont drive home and out again. It saves a bit on fuel.

I spend alot of my time at home. It seems when you get in your vehicle and go anywhere, you end up spending something. It is easier to stay at home and go nowhere.

Every time you turn that key I know we will be spending more money. Not only on gas but on where ever we go. It is a lot less temptation to stay home and find something to do here.

I think that money is one of thoes things you can never have enough of, you just need to figure out how to live on what you make. It is tough sometimes.

Oh I agree with you there are so many advantages and you can still have quite a bit of fun too. I don't think someone has to be out to have some fun, there are still things you can do that are fun and that cost so much less. I love watching movies and don't always have to go out to do it. I love to curl up on the couch and have a big bowl of popcorn and watch a nice movie. It is the comfort factor that I love the most too. I mean you can not get too comfortable at the movies anyway. At home you can lay down and rest and you can pause the movie when you need a toilet break, yes so there are many benefits. I know some people are used to going out so much and that is why they say they are bored but it is because they have not really put much thought into it and have not prepared their own fun. Sometimes it does take some preparation especially if you just want to have like a romantic dinner at home or something along those lines. It is worth it and it is nice because you don't have to drive anywhere and you don't have to drive back home. Yup I am a homebody to answer your question and loving it.

This is very true. Once my dad got his computer he told me that he was saving a lot of money since he was now spending so much of his time online. With gas and food prices being so high I do not mind being a homebody at all.

I'm a homebody. I'd rather make my own dinner and watch a movie than go out to a resteraunt and then watch a movie at a theater. I try to get my boyfriend to see that you can have fun at home too. Just have to be creative. He calls it boring. I call it saving money. I don't make much as it and with the rises prices of everything, going out to dinner one day means I can't pay a few bills.

The prices of everything is going up so high that it we need to think a lot more about where it is all going. We are finding more and more ways to have fun at home and feel good about it. BBQ season is comming and we are excited.
