My birthday is in July and I'll be 61 years old! It's never bothered me when I know I'm going to be a year older because to me age is just a number. My kids on the other hand freak out when their birthdays are coming. My daughter turned 41 last week and was depressed for a whole month before! My son turned 32 in December and all he talks about is being an "old man"!
How do you feel when your birthday is coming up? Does it bother you when you're a year older or do you feel like you are just that much wiser?

i am only 18 and i turn 19 in june... i am not excited about my birthday at all to me it is just another day. Most people are so excited about getting older ( i was till i turned 17) but when your older you just wish you were younger. I just shrug it off and go on with life.

Isn't it crazy! When you're younger you want to be older and when you're older you want to be younger! Just can't please anyone right?

No, it doesn't really bother me if I get older as the years passed but somewhat, it is kinda exciting for me when birthday comes because my mother always want to cook for me. I just think that celebrating birthdays even in a simple manner like going to church, going out with your friends or simply staying at home with family reminds me that I am still alive and kicking in this world! Take care!
Thanks for the post!

My birthday is in May too.And I will be 24.There are a little sad in my heart as I'm getting older and older, but the sadest thing is my parents are older too.Now I work alone in a big city and they still stay at the country,I just meet them seven days a year.Every time I think about it,I want to cry...Shymurl,I know I should do like you and be happy, but sth. or sb. always let me down.I can't say any more just wait for my birthday...

Oh my my birthday is in November and yes I do not like the idea that I will be eighty two but of course I will be. I do not look that old and most of the time I do not feel that old but I do at times feel the scorn of some people against anyone who is quote old unquote. They seem to picture old people as doddering idiots hobbling along with a cane and unable to talk about anything but their aches and pains. which is so patently untrue of most of us.Because we now have better medical care and more knowledge of how to eat and maintain our health senior citizens now days are almost as alert and active as their adult children.

i guess not. it reminds me that i'm growing old. and i have to face a lot more responsibilities of growing old. i wanna stay young forever :). maybe it sounds so childish, but i don't get a lot of gifts at my birthdays now... :) only from my girlfriend.. :D

i do actually even though i will be 47 this year. this is because my family tends to fuss over me a little bit more than normal and i really enjoy that...
i guess for me, age is just a number because i still enjoy things that i used to do when i was younger!!!

I don't try to get too excited about my birthday because nothing ever seems to go the way I wanted to...you know, just one day out of the year it'd be nice to do everything my way...but I don't get bothered by having a birthday either. I've enjoyed getting one more number higher. Although I have joked that my birthday this year...also in July...will be my last because it's the big '29'.

I don't look forward to my birthday very much. I already don't pay attention to it very much. As it means I am older one year. But I look forward to my son's birthday as he will be four at that time. I care about him more than myself, haha.

Yes, I do. I always look forward to my birthday. Though I'm not young anymore, I still feel excited every time my birthday comes. I make it a point to celebrate it even in the simpliest way as a thanksgiving for the year that has passed and for all the blessings I received. Though having birthdays mean getting a year older, I don't really mind it because I know I spent it well and I gained wisdom for all the experiences I gained.

In my opinion, I'm one of those people that don't care if it was Easter or Christmas. I don't normally look forward to any kind of public holiday or even my birthday. A birthday just means you are a year older, but, it's how you treat yourself that matters.
If you are constantly drinking and smoking (Not offending anyone that does) it can ruin your life, it wouldn't even matter if it was your birthday, your life is ruined.

im turning 26 this coming saturday (april 26). im not really looking forward to it but a lot of other people are. my friends and officemates are somewhat excited, they're excited for free lunch or pizza i guess. but im really broke so i can't give in to them. being at this age and not being financially stable is really becoming scary. im worried bout days coming up and having nothing to provide for my son. i just hope there will be better days than this.

I used to love birthday's and could not wait for them to come around. I am hitting 25 at the end of May and it doesn't really feel like anything special anymore. I guess I should be excited that I'm moving up an age bracket and my car insurance will be lowered. But other than that there really isn't any big milestone you hit with aging. 18 and 21 were such happy ages and I counted down to hit them. Now, I just look forward to my daughter's birthdays.

I'll be 30 in a few years, and my birthday is coming up really soon, but I have changed all the clocks around my room (I put them a few months behind) just so I don't know when my birthday hits!
I think it is mostly due to lack of having my own life and all. I'm trying to work on that though and when I do get to have my own life, I'll be 18 again because I've got too many years to make up for.
