When you walk your dog and he poops in someone else's yard, do you clean it up? or Leave it? I for one have more respect for other peoples yards. Even if I know they have dogs themselves, I bring a plastic bag with me and I clean up any mess my dog leaves in other people's yards. This is one thing that really ticks me off. Now yes we have a dog and he does poop in our own yard, but he does his business in the back yard. Plus my husband even cleans up our own dogs poop in the back yard, mainly because we have small children and we don't want them stepping in it and dragging it in the house. Well today my husband went out side to mow the lawn and guess what he found in our front yard and almost stepped in? You got it!!! Dog poop! I know for a fact it is not our dogs, because we have a fenced in back yard. Unless we put our dog on a leash, he doesn't have access to the front yard. So somebody walking thier dog in the past few days allowed thier dog to poop in our yard and then just leave it. Now I know some of you are going to say that it could have been a stray. Well I don't know for a fact that it wasn't, but I have a good idea that it wasn't. We live on a very busy road and I have never seen a stray dog wondering around in the 5 years I have lived here. But there are alot of people who walk thier dogs up and down the sidewalk on leashes. Some people just have no respect to others!!!! URGH!!!!!

I, thankfully have a fence around my yard and don't have to put up with this.. Our dog has never been in another persons yard, only in ours and if she is in the part that we congregate in, we clean it up, but most of the time she goes in the woods, which is in our yard but a part that we hardly ever go into.. This is a matter of respect for others.. We do flea markets, most of them outside and the owners have had to enact a no pets policy because of this particluar reason.. People bring their dogs and walk them, if the dog does it business, they walk on and just leave it, even if it is in front of your table, many times the dogs have p**d on people merchandise, but most of the dog walkers do not care.. We have had several confrontations with the dog owners but they just walk on, so they can thank themselves that they can no longer bring their dogs with them.. It is not my responsibility to clean up after another persons animals, just mine..

Yeah, some people just have no respect for others. Yet, if people like us were to do something like that to them, they would blow a gasket!!!! It alls goes back to the old saying, "Do to others, what you would have them do to you!" I swear one of these days I am going to make something to hold plastic bags and a garbage can. Then I am going to place it with a big sign in my front yard that says "If you are going to allow your dog to poop in my yard, then clean it up!"

Oh my gosh I hate that! We just moved out of a house in a neighborhood - and I swear...this one guy - heavy set guy and he had some little dog, and he would walk by just as my daughter left from dropping of GD. Literally every day that guy would walk this dog and Literally every day, this dog would poop and/or pee in my yard! I finally called out to him and asked him to stop allowing his dog to do that in my yard. He argued with me about how he can't demand the dog not do that and I told him, then you walk him around in your yard until he does his business then you walk him down the street! It stopped for a little bit, but then started up again.
Another lady had a large dog, did the same thing, this one was just before my daughter dropped GD off -and she is hauling a load in for the child and her belongings, last thing she needs to do or be concerned about is stepping in dog crap. So I called out to her too - don't let you dog do it in my yard, please. She said something, didn't understand it but she didn't walk past my house anymore!
No respect. I live in apts now and there is a dog run, but htey just let the dogs do it right out here, and dont pick it up. Complain to the management and they do nothing. Oh well.

Well that is just down right rude of those people. I think I would have physically handed them a plastic bag and said, "Here do you mind cleaning up your dogs mess!" and then if they didn't I would have cleaned it up right then and there in front of them and followed them to thier house and deposited it on thier front door step. I swear some people let thier dogs do this in other people's yards just so they don't have to deal with it in thier own yard. The nerve of some people.

Well, that was back in my "nice person" days (only about 2years ago!) I have since decided I am tired of being the nice guy and being run over and stepped on by everyone else! So I speak up now, but back then, I didn't. But, yeah, if that happened today, I'd do that - both of those things!

Well, we also have a dog and he when we walk him he sometimes leave dog poo on other people's front yard. And, like you, I always bring a shovel and some plastic bag to pick up my dog's poo. It's just unfortunate that other people don't have the mentality that we have. I suggest you try and catch the culprit so he could get what's coming to him.

GRRR! I hate that!!
We lived in the country before and the neighbors let their BIG dog run loose. He would come to our yard and relieve him self. Of course we know that BIG dogs leave BIG piles and he would back up to my potted plants and leave a gift in them. OR he would squat on the pavers that lead to the door so we would step in it if we went out in the dark. Our dog is a doxie so I know those piles didn't come from her, they were as big as her!!
We are in town now and our dogs relieve themselves in the back yard and I rake it up and dispose of it every few days. I also would hate for it to get steped in and deposited in the house!

Since you knew who's dog it was, I think I would have picked it up and took it to the owners and said, "I do believe this belongs to you!" Can you tell this really irks me?

LOL!! That would have been a good idea!
I did call in to our local paper. They have a feature where people call in a comment and once a week they put them in the " SOUND OFF" page.
I can't remember what I said exactly, but I named the area and described the dog and said if it pooped in my plants or if I saw in eating my dogs food one more time, they would not see the dog again unless they picked it up from the pound before it was adopted out to a better family. I think I said something about hoping I wasn't feeling lazy on that day, i might find it easier to just shoot it. ( I WOULD NEVER KILL A DOG!!) An elderly lady down the road told me about the comment while telling of the damage the dog had done to her flower beds. I told her it was me. that called
The dog stayed home for a while after that. We have a leash law in Tennessee and they could be charged for letting him run loose. I only found maybe two piles in the next 1 1/2 years.

We have a community paper here too. I am tempted to write in to it about this. If it happens again, which I am sure it will, I think I will definitly write to the local paper about it.

Yeah, it is pretty tacky to leave something like that in someone else's yard. We no longer have our dog, but I sometimes take care of a friend's dog when she is out of town, and I make sure that I keep a plastic bag with me. It isn't exactly pleasant to have to pick it up, but I'd feel so guilty leaving it there! The last time I was taking care of my friend's dog, I took her for a very quick walk one evening and forgot to grab a plastic bag. I didn't realize it until I was pretty far down the road, so I decided to just make it a quick walk and hope that the dog didn't go! Of course, she did end up going in someone's yard, so after we got back to the house, I got a plastic bag and ran back down the street to find the house where she pooped! lol I felt pretty silly, but at least I took the time to go back and clean it up!

Well at least you were kind enough to go back and clean it up. Most people wouldn't have bothered. I know there has been a few times I have forgotten a plastic bag, but I have gotten lucky that my dog didn't end up going in anyone's yard.

i didn't have a pet at the moment... but i know if i have one in the future, i will not allow my dog to poop in other people's lawn... moreover, i just can't leave it like that... it is terrible and it is also very disrespectful... you are right that it is very annoying when people do that especially to your yard... i hope you will be able to find the culprit next time and have a word with him/her...

The possiblities of catching the culprit are probably slim. As there are a ton of people that walk thier dogs in our neighborhood. But if I ever do, believe I will let them have it!!!

I see that all the time also. When were younger and had a dog, my mother always made us carry a couple of baggies to clean up after him.

When I had my two dogs on their walk one would go near the first doggy bin and the other the second on route, they very rarely pooped in their own garden, but I always had bags with me and picked up after them. It really annoys me that people have dogs and then don't bother cleaning up after them. They should get a cuddly toy of they don't want to work that goes with being a pet owner, feeding, walking, grooming, injections etc. We have an alley near my sons school and the locals call it 'dog shite alley' for obvious reasons. I tell people if I see their dog go and they don't go pick it up because by them not doing so it gives other loving dog owners a bad name eh! Ellie :D

It does make all of us dog owners look bad when only a few can't seem to clean up after thier own dogs! It shouldn't be like that!

I have no idea why dog owners will let their dogs poop anywhere and they don't clean it up. Then other people and animals have to step it in and track it all over the place. It's absolutely disgusting and just completely disrespectful. And yes, especially letting your dog poop in someone else's yard and not picking up after it is absolutely ludicrous.

It is disgusting! I wonder sometimes how these people would feel it other's did it to them. Now I would never do something like this to others because I was raised "Treat others the way you would want to be treated." I guess not everyone was raised this way!

It really is a shame that some dog owners would have no respect for someone else's property. It is very unfair for the house owners to clean after the mess of somebody else's dog.
I have a total of 8 dogs but none of them walk outside the property since they have plenty of play spaces in the property. They will take care of their business outside the house and then go back after they are finished. We would immediately cleaned it up so it wont smell. But we also have neighbors with their own set of dogs. But unlike us, they have to walk their dogs outside. This is when the problem start. They would just leave the poop in front of property. When we caught them, we confront them. It might cause some disagreement and a fall out between us neighbors. But I can't help it. Just have to let them know that they have to respect each and everyone's spaces.
Having a dog is like having a child. You have to assume responsibility. You would not dare leave your childs poop on somebody else's yard.

You are so right. Having any kind of pet, is just like having a child. You take responsiblity for it including cleaning up after it when it poops in other's yards.

Aside from lack of respect, sometimes its also plain laziness on the part of the owner as well. They would rather have someone cleaned up after them than cleaning it up themselves.

I agree that people nowaday do not have any respect. They should train their dogs to do it own things in their respective premis and not in others property. It makes me sick to see dog poop in front of my house even though I do not own dogs. The municipal authorities should formulate some kind of regulations banning dogs pooping on peoples properties.

Exactly!!!! If you don't want to clean up your dogs poop out of others yards. Then have it poop in your own yard before taking it for a walk. That should not be such a hard task to do. But I guess for some people that is just asking way to much of them. I think part of it is laziness!!!
