I can live without cable. I grew up on an era where cable TV, internet, and the cell phone were unheard of. (80's! Hahahaha).

As you know I haven't had cable for about 13 years and so I don't really miss it. I'm rarely at home anyway with all the time I work and what little spare time I have try to see Sophia.

I haven't had cable since I moved out of my mom's house about 15 years ago. I in graduate school at the time, and I worked, so I was never home very much to watch TV, so it was easy to wean me off of cable. Plus, the area that I live in now gets good TV reception for many channels. I'm actually going to get an amplified antenna and get even more channels, soon.
I agree about Hulu.com, it's a great site and you can even get some cable shows there and it's all legal. I also watch TV shows on the VIP channel on tv-video.net, but I haven't watched that many there, lately.

Yes and no. Actually I have had to dealt with only having broad cast cable, where there are only, 12 to 13 channels. It has been hard doing this, but I managed. I am trying to figure out, if I am going to be able to deal with, not having cable once they upgrade the levels of the cable system of next year. I just know that my hubbie will figure something out...

We're getting our cable tv back after being without it for about 6 months. In fact, they had a new price for new customers which we couldn't refuse. We really missed not having cable, especially last winter during the writers strike!

Just the thought of this question gets me just a little frazzled! It's like an addiction...Of course we could LIVE without it, we'd probably live fuller lives without it, we'd certainly have more time for ourselves and our family without it, yet we choose to have it in our homes AND to pay outrageous prices for it. The question in my head is, with all this knowledge of the goodness that can come from not having cable, why do we still opt to have it in our home?
Just another habit that has become common to many in our society. I admire the guy who said he doesn't watch tv. He's a man who is using his life wisely.

Cable is now a curse word in our family lol. We haven't liked Time Warner for years, because they always go up on their prices, even after you have reached what is supposed to be regular price. They have a deal now where your price is locked in for two years, but we figure instead of the small price hikes they used to do throughout the two years, you get one big one when your two years is up.
However, I understand what you are saying. When I moved into my grandmother's house, I was introduced to the wonderful world of DirecTV. I have been spoiled for the last two years, having all these channels of nothing to watch lol. I will definitely be getting DirecTV, by hook or by crook when I move out, I don't think I could deal with regular television any more.

Yes I can, when I was in grade school we have cable tv but when I turned high school, my parents decided to disconnect the cable tv since its useless if we have it since there's no one left at home watching tv, my Mother doesn't like to watch tv. I miss having cable tv, I can watch my favorite cartoons or tv channels and movies. But its okey for me, I can live without cable.

I used to have cable but not anymore. We would get it turned off in the summer and then re-instate it during the winter months when we were home more. Now we live out in the bush and all we can get is satellite. I find it way to costly. My hubby and I decided to try to go without it for a few months. That was over a year ago. We talk more. We play guitar together more. We read more and my writing has become a lot better. We do get four english and one french channel when we absolutely need a fix, or we go into town and rent a movie at the corner store. It's worked out great for us.

I wouldn't miss it at all. I have gone without cable for several months, and barely even noticed.

The only thing on cable that I really miss is the Food Network channel b/c I love that channel. We haven't had cable in a long time but our bill kept getting messed up and we finally had enough and decided to just cancel it.

Yes...I can live without cable easily. I pay only 17.00 per month to keep basic cable and it isn't my top priority. once you get used to it...tv isn't really that important. I hardly ever even turn on my tv. sometimes I go months without it being turned on. I keep it for the occassion that I feel like the noise or watching the news and also for my daughter who also only occassionally feels like watching it.

I can't live without cable. Without cable my television doesn't come in very good. Cable gives me better reception.
