maybe someone can help me. But my computer sometimes restarts for no apparent reason. I could be doing anything, and it will restart...idk why, and its really annoying. Sometimes it lasts without restarting for weeks, then BAM one day it restarts over and over, and can go up for up to a week.

More details would have helped but I'll work with what is provided. You might have too many things running and open at the same time. Try to eliminate as many nonessential programs as possible from computer use (download programs, manufacturer's programs, and other frivolous items). Do not have too many high end programs open. Do not have too many windows or tabs open during internet usage. You may have a virus or some vicious malware. You have to run an antivirus and an antispyware scan. Try them from Safe Mode (press F8 during start up). If that doesn't work, it maybe a hardware issue. Your power supply may not be connected right, or its overloaded. The motherboard might also be the problem, or it could be bad memory/RAM. Then again, your computer could be shutting down due to overheating. Do you get a blue screen before the restart? If you do, then that could narrow it to memory or perhaps a faulty harddrive. If not, then the issue might be with the power supply (its insufficient for your computer, damaged or otherwise faulty), or it could be the motherboard/perhaps overheating.

It gives you the option to reboot your computer when Microsoft updates your computer. It isn't automatic.

Hi... There are possibilities due to several reason. Firs is due to any Virus or Trojan. Due to hardware problem. due to fluctuation in electricity voltage. It may also occur due to dust in ram slots. so clean up your RAM slots. Also check you SMPS (power supply Unit) or UPS Or LCR. Start your system in Safe mode and scan you system through any good anti virus. If you need any other help then please let me know.

I think your hardisk should be replaced. Or it could be a memory module issue. From my experience, there are 3 cause for a computer to restart. First is the power supply and next is the hardisk and lastly, the ram.

It can be a variety of things. Check how much ram do you have? You might need an upgrade. Also check if you're computer's over heating. Sometimes because the hard drive's fan isn't working as well as before when it was new, it tends to restart. But if all these are fine, run some anti spyware/ virus scanner and clean your computer. It might be a trojan virus. I hate those. :-s

Your computer is having either of two problems. One it might be infected with a virus, or number two its system files have become corrupted. 1) If it is a virus and you don't have an antivirus then it is possible to detect the virus. But if you don't then I don't think it will be possible for the antivirus to detect it. 2) If your system files have been corrupted then you can try and repair it using your windows cd. Or else the only solution left is to format your pc.

Does it only happen when you run certain programs? IF so, your computer could be overheating.
