Why do you live where you live?

Is it because you have always lived there and so never wanted to live anywhere else? Or is it because you moved to be with family or because of a job? Do you like it where you live, or do you hate it with a passion and wish that you could move? I live where I live because I had no choice, I was 18 when I moved here and I was in a very sticky situation and so I moved to where I am now to be closer to my Mum and Dad. I truly believe that if I had not have moved when I did then I would be dead, that is how bad a situation I was in. I do not like where I live, although the schools are good and the crime rate is low, there is no life here, and the people are horrible!! I have no friends and to get to anywhere for a day out takes anywhere from 45 minutes plus on a bus. There is nowhere within walking distance around here that I can take my kids to for a day out or an hour or two out without us having to go in a car, and I do not drive! Hubby does but then we cannot afford the petrol anyway. Although I would dearly dearly love to move, we cannot afford to and of course my hubby would have to find a new job which would have to be with a wage as high as he is getting now, which is virtually impossible, where my hubby works is one of the best paying factories around, so I am for now well and truly stuck here!! But never mind me, I would love to hear about you!!

the reason would be because of my father's job. i love on where we live right now but i hate the neighbors that are surrounding us lol they just don't have anything to do with their lives so they just wanted to spend some rumors when it comes to us

That sounds like the majority of people where I live, they have nothing else better to do than spread rumours and gossip.

Well, I guess it depends. I live in this city because it's where I came in once I got in Canada. Once I got a job here. I stayed. Do I hate it? not exactly but I would prefer to live a bit away from the city. I live in this house because I have no choice. I committed the mistake of buying it with my in laws and now it's a bit complicated and I will not leave if I am going to loose any of what I put in this house for the last 18 years. Do I hate it? Yes, pretty much. But I am not going to act impulsively because there is quite a lot at stake, so I will have to bear it for now. I live in this country, because my husband was here with his family. And although I postponed my wedding a few times and canceled it once, I ended up coming. Do I hate it? Not really , it's a nice country with nice people. DOn't like the climate but one can't always have what one likes :)

For me it is because I always lived there with my family after we moved in from our apartment when I was 8 years old. We/I haven't decided to move or to settle somewhere but I am not yet sure since I still love to stay with my family and spend time with them. Other thing is my work is near my home. It is just 30 minutes drive. Have a great day! Cheers!

I live out in the country so everything (by everthing i mean the convencience store down the road) is closed up by 11:00p.m. That dosen't bother me because i am basicly a homebody that had rather be home reading or whatever once the sun goes down. I moved to this very piece of land when i was 15yrs.old. My husband was born and raised in this county. We moved back here a few years ago because his mother was ill. He said that we would move back to the small town that we were living in at the time before school started back(that was 5yrs ago)I liked living there because there was parks for the kids,i didn't have to drive 30miles to go to the grocery store( and if i needed something at 2a.m. walmart was a mile from our house). The schools were good, there was a hospitial(which is important because my youngest son has health issues) a mile away. Two libaries and all sorts of things to do as a family. After the first 2 yars here i pretty much accepted that i will never leave this county. even after i die I won't be leaving this county because my family cematery is located here. Now how pitiful is that? I have to laugh when i think about it!

Well I have lived in a variety of places. I was born in a big city, then my family moved south in various locations. I grew up in a small city and went back up north to college. And then after college I moved back home to the south. I moved back because my parents are quite older and I have always been close to them. ANd my mother's health is very fragile. My only regret is that I have allowed myself to forget my own life in the process and now it seems like a fight to find it again. I know in the end everything will work out and I know who I am, but lke you I am stuck due to financial reasons. I did not listen to my brother when he warned me even with a degree I would have a hard time finding a job. And he was right for the past 7 years I have been earning minimun wage with a degree. (and that is quite common in this area) You have to know people to get a job (I stopped going on interviews years ago b/c of this nepotistic ideals. The only thing that keeps me going are my strong beliefs, ethics and confidence. Don't get me wrong I love my job b/c I make a difference in people's lives and found the career I want, I just wish I knew before I graduated years ago and before all the money was spent and borrowed on the piece of paper hanging on my wall. and i feel your pain about the car situation. I do drive but I can afford to buy a decent car so I rely on rides everywhere. Good luck

I used to live in a very large city then I moved to a very small country village in my twenties to be with my partner. We met while I was vacationing and a couple months later I moved down here. That was 12 years ago. Though I had no idea the challenges that come with a small community if my partner would leave I would go back to a city in a heart beat.

I live here in New Jersey because that is where the Air Force relocated us after Hurricane Katrina ravaged Keesler AFB in Mississippi. We have to wait a minimum of 3 years to move again. We will have been here 3 this November. We can't wait to move again. We want to go back down south near my family or to New Mexico where my husband is from. Aside from it being far from our families... I personally hate the winter! It is also really far from anywhere where we live on base. As we all know, gas is not cheap! Nothing is open 24 hours..not even Walmart. You can't pump your own gas here. On a positive note, we still seem to have some of the lowest gas prices in the country despite this. My main reason for not liking it is the lack of friends and family. But, we could end up in North Dakota next...and for me that would be much worse!

I live in my boyfriends hometown. He was born and raised here. We met at Butlins and after two years there, we decided to move and settle down. We moved in with his uncle to start with since he spent most of his time where his daughter lives. We have our own place which is on the same block as his uncle. Its round the corner from my boyfriend's family home, 10 mins walk from the place his dad lives and works which is also the same place my boyfriend works. His Nan and Grandad are within walking distance. I have to get the bus to work which takes bout 20 mins. Crime is low and there is local shops and a school just across the road. Neighbours arent that bad, I dont know many but the ones I do are nice. We dont drive but Im thinking about starting lessons. I dont mind where I live but would prefer to change what I live in. I live in a upstairs maisonette, but would prefer a house or a downstairs maisonette.

I'm sorry you are stuck living where you don't want to live. I am very lucky as I live in a beautiful village with friendly people. Although we are far from the nearest city, and with petrol prices we have to be careful travelling. However I wouldn't move from the area I am in as I really like it. I moved to live with my partner and it has been great so far!

My sister live at her in-laws house, since the day she got married. It was pretty hard at first, cause she'll be far from our family's place. She misses home a lot, i guess. If only she got choice i'm sure she'll pack up and go back to her old house, but because she love her husband dearly, she opted not to. Though, she's treated so well I believe she's still wanting to have her own place with her own family, but what's stopping them is their financial status. Now, she's able to cope up with life out there.

Uh, are you SURE you want to hear it?? LoL!! No really, I can actually say that I HATE where I live. Why did I move here? Because we (myself, fiance, and 2 kids) were living with my fiance's parents and I wanted to be on my own. Plus my oldest wanted to move as well and I took that into major consideration. So we moved to the boonies, to where my fiance used to live. We've been here for just a little over a year, and let me say that what ever you can imagine that could go wrong, has!! The biggest is that it took my fiance 6 months to get a job. So how just like you I would LOVE to move, we can't because we are too far behind on bills and we don't make enough to move.

I chose to live where I live because it's one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. I used to live in the midlands but moved south west around 14 years ago as I was sick of the rat race. Where I live now I'm 20 mins from the sea and 20 mins from beautiful Dartmoor. I live in a city, but it's rather small in comparison to some. I would like to move abroad, somewhere hotter in a few years time, but my daughter has only just left home and would like to see her more settled before heading off for pastures new!

I am sorry that you do not like where you live sweety and that there are so little amenities! I was born and brought up where I live although I have moved away several times I always come back as I have a lot of family and friends here and I do love it! My daughters school is 2 minutes round the corner - literally, my sons school is a 10 minute walk away , although it regularly takes him 40 mins to get home, if and when I get back to work the pub I work in is only a few minutes walk in the opposite direction! I can almost see my Grans house from where I live and I have alot of friends and family very close by! On top of that there is a park just down the road and some very good parks all within easy cycling distance and my other half always takes her for nice long rides when the weather is nice! We are a mile outside the city centre but the countryside is also less than a mile away. I guess we forget how lucky we are sometimes. I hope that something happens to make your life easier - if anyone deserves it you do! xxx

It sounds pretty good where you live, although I am near school and we have some shops in our little town, the place lacks the spark, we live near a popular UK theme park and people in my town complain about the fact that no tourists come here, but they will not do nothing about it, they do not like change and they just like to moan about any change that is proposed. It is very sad, this place just has no life. xx

I know which theme park it is too sweetheart! lol It is a shame that the people who live there have no oomph! I am sure that you would thrive in a place that had that spark! xxx

Yes it is a very good theme park!! I would love to be in a place with a bit more spark, where people are more friendly and are willing to pass the time of day with me. A place where there are good parks to take my kids for an hour after school on a hot day instead of the rubbish one that we have that has 3 swings and a slide. A place where there are some places of interest withing walking distance or maybe a mcdonalds and lots of shops, instead of millions of hairdressers and kebab houses.

Well where I live isn't all that bad, but I have lived here practically all my life. When my mother and grandmother were alive they weren't exactly into "change"--I remember way back in 1970 when I was about fifteen years old I suggested the idea of moving...the apt. is a glorified studio and was starting to feel cramped...but my mother gave the excuse..oh, you're in school still and it would be hard for you to transfer schools..like duh? I wasn't suggesting a move to Nome, Alaska..LOL...just a larger apt in the neighborhood or even the building itself...then over the years we just had to stay put...rents began to soar out of proportion..like now..here in my area an average apt goes for about $1,000 a month...my apt would probably be about that much itself but isn't only cause I've lived here so long I'm at least luckier than you that within walking distance is just about everything...stores, supermarkets, a movie theatre, even at a little distance a shopping mall--I don't drive either--so do have to walk everywhere--eventually I wouldn't mind moving though...where, no idea--but its boring to have lived in the same place all your life, but I AM grateful that at least I do have a place to live

My parents moved to this area when I was 10. When I was a teen all I thought about was leaving this place. Well I got a job after high school, college, and met my husband and got married. We rented a small house in the same area of all things. Then I got pregnant and at the time I had really bad baby blues and my mom helped out ALOT. Well when it got time for my baby to go to school we didnt live in the right area for her to go to school so we decided to get a trailer and moved behind my parents. We have been living here for 11 years now. I dont see us having the money to make a house payment any where else so we are stuck here. Although WE all would like to move.
