Just curious?

The Mylot guidelines say that we will not earn more for responding to every comment made on one of our discussions, yet I still see many people doing this. I know in part it is just manners, and perhaps we have something more to add based on what a person has said. But all in all, is there more opportunity for earning by responding within our own discussions or not?
Either way I don't think I will change the way I respond to others, I am really just curious.

What the guidelines actually say is not to: "Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings". In other words you don't want to respond with just a thank you. Yes you can respond and it could effect your earnings but you want to make sure that you are doing more then just thanking people. Your replies should add to the discussion. If you are going to respond then put things in that ask questions, clarify meanings, add information, and such. Things like that are allowed and could earn you more money, maybe not much but some. Now if all you do is thank them mylot watches for that and I have seen people warned on here about doing it.
I hope that helps.

You're welcome, I just hope it helps. I do agree the guidelines could be written a bit better and perhaps a bit clearer for everyone. Thank you for the best response. I sure wasn't expecting that.

I understand now. Thanks for clarifying! Um, sometimes it is difficult to add more substance when all that is really required is a thank you, LOL!

I try to respond to one and all. Some people are online when I start a discussion but others in different time zones come on later or at work and don't log on until days later. So, regardless of whether we get paid or not, if I reply to the first response then I try to respond to them all. It's not always possible to do so for lack of time - but I try. As for earning more or not I've given up trying to understand how we earn and for what exactly we are paid. I just love the communication and the friendships here.

Yes, the friendships are a plus, but as you said, there is a time constraint. Would I rather spend my time on Mylot adding to more discussions where I will definitly earn and perhaps share my knowledge, or should I spend it replying to everyone who has added to my discussion and possibly not earn anything for that time.
I don't really want to sound like the ONLY thing I'm interested in is the money, and I don't want to be rude by not responding at all.
Like I said, just curious.

I think giving a comment on every response might help increase responses to your discussions. I do it out of manners, like you said. Sometimes, I really have something that I want to say. I know there are a few people who say that they like to respond to my discussions because they get a response back. I know with me, I would like a response or acknowledgment from the person starting the discussion, but I know that not everyone does that.

I think a lot of it depends on the discussion. If I ask "What are you doing right now?" and get 50 responses, I probably won't respond to many of them, perhaps just 1 or 2. Mostly I only respond if I have something to add to their comment.
Of course with this thread I feel like I HAVE to respond, cause that's the discussion, LOL.

That is what it is all about when we respond back to a response. We add more to the discussion and create more responses which then makes the discussion of many threads so that others can join in and add thier pennies worth.
In that way the discussion builds up to a Quality discussion and MyLot recommends that and rewards more accordlingly.
Have a great day from Deeeky

I see what you mean. While I may not be paid for each comment, the fact that the conversation has more substance will increase my earnings for that particular discussion. Not to mention it will build respect for me and friendships, making others want to comment on my discussions more often.

I've never noticed that part of the MyLot guidelines, so I don't know whether responding to comments left on one of your discussions adds to your earnings or not. I always try and do it though. first is because it's polite. If someone has takent he time to respond to my discussion then I think it's only right that I respond back, even if it's just a couple of lines. Secondly, it makes MyLot more of a community and keeps relationships between MyLotters going. You are more likely to enjoy interacting with people if you have some sort of relationship.

I think you may have misinterpreted it.
Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings.
I mean, what mylot have meant was ,if you just post "Thank you".You won't earn anything for it.
You must post really something in the comment, like the way you do for responses.
I think you do get money if you post good ,lengthy ,quality comments.
Cheers! Have a great day
Happy mylotting and happy earnings

Well I'm not gonna stop just cause I'm not getting earnings or posts from it, I will respond when I have something to add or if I find someone's comment interesting. It's just a shame Mylot doesn't make it easier to decipher the way their earnings work. (I think they do it on purpose, LOL)

actually i am also perplexed about this. Like i thought all that in mylot that incraeses the post by 1 are goingf to earn me. but its also written in mylot FAQ that we are paid for discussions, post and comments. its not clear to me whether the comments give us earning. but it really incraeses the visibility. as your activity makes it pop up.

From what I'm understanding now, we should stop worrying to much about our earnings and just have fun!
Honestly, at this point, I enjoy Mylot so much that the earnings are just a bonus. I guess I'll stop worrying if what I'm doing is helping me earn, and just have fun and make friends!

Actually I am not so sure whether I can earn extra money by the comments. I don't care about it very much. I think when people respond to my discussions, it will be a polite way for me to say something to them as an appreciation. So I always add comments.

the guidelines stated:
"Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings."
it is against mylot to respond the comments on our discussions by saying thank you to them[b] but if your respond is related to the comments by clarifying or adding another idea it is okay.
if you have no message to say except thank you, much better you don't respond it.[b]

I hear about it also but its okay. Sometimes we really need to reply on comments to our discussions, especially when we find it really necessary. After all this is a discussion so we need to at least interact not only once.

i guess it's really a good manner to give comments, a good sign of appreciation to everyone who response to our discussion. i still do this and i will always do, if i have time.
