This weekend I went to an auction here in town and i had more fun then if i had gone out dancing. I think I did really well.. I got 5 boxes of paint for $2, I got 3 boxes of glasses for $1, I got a bunch of pillows, blankets, coffee maker, 2 cd players and a lamp for $6 and I got an outside glider bench and 2 matching chairs for $10. I was just so excited about my buys that it got me in the mood to go to more auctions. Tis the season again!! Do you love auctions?

I haven't been to an auction in too many years to count. You did great on your buys! Those are some great deals. I would love to go to an auction, but I'm not sure of any around here. My parents talk about wanting to go as well. I may do a search and see if I can find one in our area.

Once in a while you get the chance to own goods and services at a very cheap price through auctions. I would get myself wonder struck at the profit I would make by participating in a choice auction to buy up some needy things.

When I had a flea market booth I loved auctions. Sometimes you can get nice stuff cheap.
But I gave up on the booth as I never made anything over the rent-lol
Right now the way things are I cant afford to go-I do miss it.

I used to, I went to one a couple of weeks ago and everything went for more than what you could buy it in the stores. I could not believe the amount of people that were there. I will try another soon, but if it is the same, I will probably give up.

My latest thing has been Penny Socials. I'd never been to one until my son's preschool did one as a fundraiser but now I'm hooked and can't believe I've been missing out all these years! I don't know if everyone is familiar with what a Penny Social is so here's a brief explanation....people donate stuff (anything but clothes), some times it's just odds and ends but often there are "big ticket" items also. It's usually all used but nice. Then the night of the Penny Social people buy envelopes of tickets. Each envelope is $1 and contains 100 tickets...they all have the same number printed on them. Then you just go around dropping your tickets into the containers of whatever items you'd like. At a set time people start drawing numbers and if yours gets picked you win that item.
The last one I went to I spent $10 on tickets...I won a bag of baby toys, a crib sized comforter, 10 preschool age books, a lamp, two teacup/saucer sets, and (this was like the "jackpot" of the night) probably 100 or more elementary/ adolescent level books...Goosebumps, Trixie Belden, Nancy Drew, Newberry award winners, 5 Harry Potter books, an almost complete set of the Little House on the Prairie books...I looked through them but didn't count and there are a lot more that I didn't name here. Plus a grocery bag full of adult books also...well not "adult" LOL but, you know, grown up level books, they're actually all "Inspirational Romance"...they have all the "awww factor" of traditional romance novels but without "heaving busoms and throbbing manhoods".

I LOVE AUCTIONS! There is something really exhilarating about getting a bargain at an auction it is the complete shopping experience. First you find something you want (hopefully lol) then you get the whole excitement of the bidding and then you get to take it home and work out what on earth your going to do with it ! I attend plant auctions here and have got some real bargains for the garden - I currently have 9 bushes we bought a week ago waiting to be planted. As yet I haven't done furniture auctions for fear of what I'd end up with lol. Well done on your buys keep bidding!

I'm an auction and yard sale junkie.
I'm of work on the weekends and by Thursday i'm browsing the local papers to see whats happening.
I have found some treasures over the years, and i have two curio stands and a house full of them. Thank goodness i have friends that feel the same way because it's something fun that we share.

I have never been to an auction, but I have watched them on television. You make it sound fun and I truly think that I would like it as well. There are a couple that are pretty close to where I live, so maybe I would look into them and just see what they have.

Hi I love them too,but theres the big problem for me of getting carrie away,im the worlds worst at it,I go to them saying Oh im not going to just buy anything, then I find im tempted by loads of things and come back with more junk than ever.I recently emptied my cupboards out and took a load of auction buys to the tip ,and I swore that that was the last time I was ever going to do this, hubby says its just throwing away money, but the lure of it all soon overtakes me again and im there bargain hunting again.
