Good News, Bad News

Well, to make this short, I have some good news and some bad news for my friends here on MyLot. The good news is, after months of tireless searching and submitting countless resumes, I finally landed a job that is on the busline (I don't drive), has a great schedule that I won't mist much time with the kids, and it will afford me enough money to finally move out of my grandmother's house!!! (I need the dancing smiliey right here so bad!) Its not in my usual career line of call centers. This position is in the mail room of a major health insurance company. I am still very excited about this position, because I will be making $11/hr, the most I have ever made on the hour in my life! Plus bennies!!! Now for the bad news. Given my schedule, once I start work (tenatively Sunday Night), I won't be able to participate on MyLot as much as I have . I will try to get on here in the mornings before I go to sleep, as I will be checking up on other things on the internet. I will also have three days a week that I will be off, and will be able to rest and come on here as well. But I will miss you guys terribly, and will be thinking of all of you as I work!!!

Congratulations on getting the new job. I have been paid over $ 13/ hr before but I didn't last there and even worse some people actually got upset knowing I got paid that much although I worked there for 2 years at the time. On top of that the place is full of politics I am so glad I quit anyway. so these days if I ever get a job I will take it even though they will pay me $ 10/hr as long as I don't have to put up with too much politics and end up not staying. but then again I don't know if there is such a job that will allow me to work only in my spare time, so I will just stick with my small business right now.

I wish you the best of luck on with your small business. I would like to have my own someday, so I can work my own hours. But it takes time to build it that way, and a good little nest egg. Maybe I will think about it once I move out.

It seems the only real time I have alot of time on here is my days off that is catch up time for me on here. You will be very happy for you are starting off w/ a good pay and benefits. We all here I'm sure have some hectic schedule's and are not on alot except for when we can. Thank you. I will be doing the same thing, as far as third shift. There will be other things I have to check on in my e-mail, so I will try to do a few responses, and maybe even post a discussion or two before I go to sleep. Like you, my main catch up days will be my off days.

It so happens that there are certain things that we want so bad…a college admission, a good job, a better neighbourhood etc etc. we keep on trying and trying and then one fine day when the clouds do lift, our joy knows no bound. We immediately share it with our friends and family and well-wishers and you have done exactly so, and in the process letting us know, how much this community of ours means to you. Go ahead drknlvly, enjoy this new job and its pay and your new home (maybe a bit later)…it has made me so happy to know that you have realized one of your dreams. We are always here for you, whenever you are free.

Thank you so much for your well wishes Sudipta. I will be working hard towards getting my own apartment, but I don't see it happening for another year or so. I want to pay off some of the debt I have. But I have promised myself that I will be in my own place by my birthday (June 7th) next year. I will come on here as often as I can, but I will miss you guys when I can't.

I think that is great news that you were able to find something especially one that is on the bus line, pays well and has benefits. I think that is fantastic . I know it's not easy to do all that and that you found one that does is great. I'm happy for you. I hope everything works out and that it just keeps getting better.

The thing is, I wasn't looking for it per se, it just fell into my lap. I applied for several jobs on Career Builder, a few of them being private companies. On Tuesday, this company called me to see if I was interested in a position in their call center in Mason Oh. This was way too far, but I was familiar with the company. I asked the woman if there were any call center positions at the William Howard Taft location. She had just finished hiring for that one a week before she called me. She sent me some testing to do, and said she would keep my information on file. Thursday, she called me back and said they had a postion open in the Mail room at the location I mentioned and asked if I would like to do that. She said it like I wasn't going to take it, but I pounced!!! I have been out of work for way too long to turn my nose up at any opportunity, especially one this good. Granted, its not my usual line of work, but I like being flexible and trying new things!!!

Yes, we were all having a hard time. I was so frustrated because at the end of the month, I will have been in my Grandmother's house for two years. I couldn't move before because not only did I not have a job, but there is a situation with public housing that left a big bill, so that prevents me from applying for subsidized housing. I will probably be here another year or so, because I want to have my finances in order before I leave. But now I can at least see the end of the tunnel, even though its still a ways away.

Goodness friend, of course we'll miss you being here so much but there is not one bit of bad news in that! At least not the way I look at it. Friends want their friends to be successful in life, we care about you enough to want you to be out there earning real money for your family rather than being here for a few dollars a month. This is such exciting news and I am so happy for you and proud of you for sticking with it.

Its not the money that I will miss, its the relationships I have created over the past year, especially the past six months when I have been really active. I will still be here, but I know there will be times when I have to work, or should be going to sleep, when I will really want to be here with you guys. I guess the three days a week will have to do *sniff*

Congratulations on your new job... that $11/hr is quite a lot of money... i have never earned that much even when i was still working abroad... so seems like good things are happening and will be happening to you and your family... but there is always a negative side... since you won't be able to mylot that much... but then... the important thing is that you will not leave for good... and will still be here once in a while...

Yes the blessing are spreading!!! I forgot to mention that the same day that I got word about this job, my mom went on an interview. She was working, but the job she had never gave enough hours. I guess Mercury was in the right house that day (I am a Gemini, and she is a Virgo, both ruled by Mercury) because she got called back that evening to tell her she got the position!!! She will be making the same too!

congratulations for your new job. Well, don't be sad that you can't online and actively participate in here. For me, I still can join this forum when i got free time (lunch time) or after work. And i'll treat this as my 2nd income and still keep in touch with myLot friends. All the best!!!

I don't know if they will have computers for us to use on our breaks, or the policies they have on visiting certain sites. But they are a big company, so anything is possible. I will find out on Sunday, or sometime next week what I will be able to do.

Congratulations on your new job! Whoop whoop . I loved it when I got my job. You're right you can't spend as much time on here when you have a job that's why I don't have too much time on here. Normally I spend it after work or on the weekends. I wish you the best on your new job position. Have a wonderful day! Pablo

it is really a good news for you but it's a bad news for us here who also a part of your life. even you are too busy with your offline work please give time also on your friends here and don't forget use everytime you are free from work. i have 2 offer for offline work this month but i refuse because not needed in my case. i love online working than offline although i have business offline but i enjoy doing work here. that is why, even in my busiest schedule i never forget to log-in here and post my comment. thanks for the post.
