I used to watch movies in the dark all the time but my husband does not like to his eyes dont adjust to the dark very well so he squints at the screen. If I am watching something in my bedroom by myself I will watch it in the dark but in the living room the lights are on.

I like to watch my movies in the dark but most of the time we start off with a light on because we sit down to eat when we first start the movie. After we are done eating, then we turn the lights off and finishing watching the movie in the dark. I like that alot better. My husband likes light though but he don't mind if I shut them off.

I think if you have the lights off, you are better able to ignore other things in the room and can disappear into the movie a bit easier.

with the lights off, your eyes have to do some adjustment with the blaring lights the tv emits. you can have a dim light enough to help your eyes adjust with your environment/room and the TV's running colors. That's protecting your eyes too.

It all depends on if it is a scary movie or not if so then no I like the lights on since the shadows in the room would freak me out some even if I knew nothing was there. But a good comedy or romance then sure, I would prefer the lights off with those types of movies. My husband likes watching movies with the lights on at all times no matter the type of movie.

I almost always watch movies at night. So, yes, my lights are always off. I think I get the experience with the lights off. I don't know why, though. I also noticed that I seem to concentrate more, lol. And I watch them in my room and not the family area. I don't like watching movies with others. It's a quirk, I know. I like paying attention without hearing side comments and noises from the dogs, etc.
