Can you wake up without alarm clock?

I am not a morning person. I enjoy sleeping in the morning because I usually sleep at late night. For this, i truly deeply need my alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. I also have to choose job type that doesn't need punch card in the morning because i have the least confident that i could make it on time to the office doorstep. It will be a blessing if i could work on night shift. However, it will never happen. Do you need alarm clock to wake up? I understand that if someone sleep early, they will wake up naturally on the next morning...unfortunately i also have a problem to deal with sleeping early, so what should i do?

I woke up at the same time, I have been waking up to since childhood. I realized that whenever your body is adjusted to it work after it. You do not need a alarm clock. Practice yourself to wake at a certain time for one week and you will see the outcome.

I have a different lifestyle on weekdays and weekend...Thus there are a few days that i need to re-adjust *especially on Sunday night. I could sleep early on Sunday night because i stay up late on Friday and Saturday.

I have a very early rise for work in the morning and am such a deep sleeper that I actually have to use 3, yes 3 alram clocks. I have one beside my bed, my cell phone and one at the far end of my bedroom that I have to get up to turn off. Once up, I don't go back to bed. Since employing this technique I have yet to be late for work.

Every weekday morning, I am woken up at 6am by a human alarm clock ~ my wife. She wakes me up to have breakfast with her before she goes to work. All she needs is to turn on the lights of the room, tap me on my legs and I will normally get up. If that fails, she will tickle my tummy, and that will definitely work. Somehow, she always wakes up before me. She will set the alarm clock to go off at 5.45am, and according to her, it usually rings but I have never been woken up by the ringing of the alarm clock. I don't know why but alarm clocks don't work for me. Probably the reason is because I sleep late most days, and so I sleep very well and am not disturbed easily by the ringing of an alarm clock.

Yeah I can because my body is sorta tuned to it. For years in school and previously at work in the office I just get up at 7am automatically. Even now working from home which does not require a fix time to get up, my body just wakes up by itself at 7am.

I'm a night person so I can't go to sleep early but I do have to get up early for work so I depend on my alarm clock. If you want to do a particular job that requires you to get up early there are things that you can do to help you to get up when you need to. I keep my clock on the dresser, away from the bed, so that I have to get up to turn it off. Then, I'm up. I give myself plenty of time to get ready and travel to my job and have rarely been late. I also have a clock with a battery backup incase the electricity goes off during the night for some reason.

Thanks for your tips. I've been too kind for myself to keep my alarm just next to my bed. :p

If I go to bed early enough, I can wake up on time, if I need to get up at a certain time, but other nights, if I go to bed a little later, I need my alarm clock in the morning. I forgot to set my alarm last night, and this morning I didn't get up in time to go to curch. DARN!

If I have to go to work very early I definitely need an alarm to wake me up. Funny thing is that when I don't turn on the alarm, I tend to oversleep. But if I turn it on I most of the time wake up before the alarm goess off. I know it's not easy to habitualize oneself to go to bed early but it's not impossible to do it either. I know there are many things we want to do before going to bed but I'd rather go to bed early than to get up late and rush in the morning.

When the weather is hot it's all right to get up so and have a very early morning shower. But if you live in the northern hemisphere and you have to get up early in the morning I don't think I still want to have a shower. Just a wipe will do. LOL!

It depends on how tired I am the night before. I usually wake up around the same time every day -about 6:00 AM. But, if I am really tired, it is much harder for me to wake up.

That's very consistent. Good for you. My wake up time has been ranges up to six hours from working day to non-working day.

It is crucial for me to be up by 6am. I work nites and I don't always trust my inner alarm altho for the most part, I do wake automatically before the alarm goes off. There have been those mornings where I am very tired and I would have overslept had I not set the alarm. For that reason, I always use the alarm as a back up.

I am a single mom and my job is from 2pm until 11;30 pm and it is out of town so I don't get home until nearly midnight and it isn't easy to just fall asleep. I get up in the morning to get my daughter up and drive her to school so you see....it is all necessity.

Basically I can do that when I am at dorm. I sleep at about midnight everyday and get up at 8 o'clock or so. I don't know why but I just can't sleep more even if I enjoy sleeping. I do use alarm clock sometimes when I do need to get up early. However I will be awake before the alarm sounds.

Fortunately, this doesn't happened to my dorm. As far as I know, some of my classmates' dorm do have this kind of problem. Sometimes one's alarm clock can awake all the others but himself/herself.

Fortunately, this doesn't happen in my dorm. But it does happen in my friends' dorm. One of the funny things is that one's alarm clock wakes up everybody but himself!

I dont need an alarm even before I was retired. If I go to bed late I will wake up a little later than usual. I wake up several times per night. My usual wake up time is around 5 a.m even if I catnap back to bed. I have always been like that from in chilhood days. My dad would get up early to go milk the cows, so it became habitual. When am travelling I would even wake up earlier at times.

Ya, habitual is the most effective way. Where do u live ? when u mention about 'milk the cow', i thought of new zealand.

I wake up naturally every day. I get up early automatically at 6 o'clock even if I sleep late. Most days I used to sleep around 11 o'clock or 12 o'clock. I have seen people getting as early as 5 o'clock without any alarm clock. Some of my friends get up early at 5 o'clock and go for running or walking take a bath and then go to office.

I can wake up without one, but I always set one anyways to make sure I'm not late. I almost always wake up 3 or 4 minutes before my alarm goes off anyways, which is obnoxious anyways, but it makes me feel better knowing the alarm is on instead of relying on myself.

I always get up late even with aid of alarm clock. For that, i need to work in a flexi-time office hour company.

I usually sleep at 10pm every night if you call that early. The next morning I wake up at 7:30-8am naturally and feel normal. You just need to make it a routine going to bed early. Try taking a bath with warm-hot water and it cause you to go sleep earlier. try it tell me how it works out.

That's sweet. I couldn't sleep at 10pm cause i have to start packing for my goods and ship to customer on the next evening. I have another daytime job. Two jobs really take out a lot of time from a good sleep.

I think you should make a good sleeping habbit. by doing a six hours sleep in the night. don't do any night activities. Set your sleeping hours into 6 hours.

well, the alarm clock has serve it purpose to wake you up to switch it off.

Whether i go to bed early or late i always rely on the alarm to wake me up - i think it has become a psychological crux for me now- i just can't trust myself to wake up early without the alarm clock on.

Me too! I trust a physical alarm more than my bio logical alarm.
