As many of you know I have a four year old son well today I have just had my bath and was actually in it squirting water from his boat funnel to see if I could get it to squirt up to the ceiling. I laughed at myself for being so childish.
Am I in need of serious help or do other parents do crazy things like this when the kids aren't around and play with there toys?
Scalextrix is acceptable as I do that one too!
So what do you play with in the bath? Oops perhaps I should put a mature content tag on this as I've just realised what I have asked LOL?

well, i'm not a parent yet I'm just about to become one but I don't think there's something wrong with that. You can think of it as a form of relaxation, something like, you're just getting yourself free from a lot a responsibilities in a small amount of time. And I think I'm going to do that a lot often more than you do.

I will play myself, i must admit at 20 years old i would never have thought i would start re-watching all the disney classic cartoons ever made (well almost all of them) - and yes, i will watch them again with my son or daughter when the time will come.
I believe that there is a child in all of us, despite our mature looks, or the society that we live in, and should not ignore that because it's one of the beauty's of life. Have you never wished as a child, to grow up, to do able to do things only grownups do ? Well now is your chance to do both (child and grownup activities) but be careful not to be more childish than your own child because that would just be strange ;)

No need of serious help yet. Not until you claim the toy as yours and refuse to let the little one play with his toy at all LOL!! I like to use floating candles with rose petals when I'm in the tub and a good book. LOL!!!I'm so boring.

I was hooked on Sesame Street, long after my kids stopped watching it! I think it's great. We should all be kids now and then and be free and uninhibited. It's not childish, it's just pure delight. Go and play with toys!!

I actually found myself playing w/ my 5 mon. old's piano the other day. I don't take baths, I take shower's but I have found myself playing with her toys a lot. There is nothing wrong w/ it and there is no reason for you to go be checked out or anything. It was probably just a crazy moment away from your child. I do some crazy stuff too away from Allie. I guess it's from sleep deprivation. Who know's.

I think all of us parents must do it at some stage eh! It is great fun and we have an excuse as we have a little one. My eldest daughter who is 21 loves taking him out as she says she gets chance to run around and be silly too for a while. Thanks for sharing your antics away from Allie. Ellie :D

My kids are grown up now but I still form my fingers into a round shape, and blow bubbles through the round. I love bubbles... they somehow fascinate me. The kids used to play mainly with empty bottles and things in the bath. They tired of toys. lol.
Brightest Blessings my friend. x

lol thats funny. Isn't that why we had kids so we can play with all the new cool toys that we never had when we were growing up? I play with some of my kids toys sometimes of course they are always with me. Except for once I was in the shower and used one of their bathtub colors to write a love note on the wall of the shower for my hubby. I love those bathtub colors if you don't have any get some they are really fun to play with.

AH...does coloring in their color books when they are gone qualify me as justifiably insane? LOL...or how about eating their special snacks I buy just for the kids like yogo's! LOL....I think that's what makes life interesting and also keeps you young!

Speaking of coloring books. I have one of my officemates here that does that then later on I joined her. Our job is so stressful that we need something to cool us off. Every week she has a new coloring book those cheap ones that you usually by for ages 3 - 4 yrs. old with big drawings on them. She got me bring my oil pastel kit and we both do the coloring in the office in our free time. Believe me it works like a therapy relieving us from stress.

Enjoy yourself! You are younger than you think! Or older than you think, either way, there is nothing wrong with having fun! People who have fun with their kids are not afraid to be seen acting like a big kid! People who are afraid to act like a kid, or who refuse to play with their kids, end up with kids who are worse off! have fun!

I remember once that one of our friend's children had a toy that stuck to the top of the high chair tray with a suction cup - kind of a bobble head type thing. Well, the guys drank a little too much one night and one of them stuck in on their forehead - it stuck REAL GOOD, and wouldn't come off. We finally had to use some dish soap to get it loose, but it left a big mark on his forehead that looked like a big hickie!

I used to do things like that all the time! I think we all have those childish moments and although I have not had one for a while I think that they do us good! I do not "play" with anything in the bath, I just tend to be so frazzled from sorting my brood out that I just chill out. Although recently I must admit that I have been taking my book in with me and that is just bliss!

Hi Ellie. Isn't it funny how we spend half our childhood trying to prove how mature we are be leaving our toys behind...only to reverse the trend when we become parents ourselves. All of a sudden we realise how much we actually miss playing with something simply for the sake of playing.
Don't worry though, you are NOT 'childish'. I think that true maturity is reflected in our ability to behave in a childlike manner without feeling belittled by it.
And to answer your question, I love getting a mouthful of bath water and trying to see if I can squirt it as far as the bathroom mirror... my daughter and I have competitions to see who can squirt further (I usually win of course). LOL

I can certainly behave in a childlike manner and I love it. It is great to have some fun with when I am not working and organising etc. One thing I also love doing is blowing bubbles whilst my son chases them to make them pop before they hit the floor. We spend hours doing that one. Playing relieves stress as how many stressed children do you see, very very few cos they laugh so much and are ahppy eh! So you have fun in the bath too eh! I was alone in mine whilst doing this though not playing with my son in the bath LOL. Ellie :D

Hey, if I had to be serious and responsible all the time I think I'd go nuts... being childlike from time to time keeps me sane LOL
Though doubtless my teenagers would disagree with that... especially when I go whizzing through the shopping centre carpark on the back of a shopping trolley.

Lol.
Hi, ellie. I think that the time to start worrying is when we stopping playing around. It is very important to not take life too seriously and playing with our kids toys is a good way to remind us of that.
You left out the best part. Did you ever reach the ceiling???

Well if you are having fun, then
that is the important thing!
My daughter has a duck in the tub, a
rubber duck that floats.
It's also a squirt toy.
She leaves her toys in the tub all the time.
Sometimes during my own bath time, I grab the duck
and squirt water everywhere.
I feel childish when I do that, but
it's so much fun!
Then like a good mommy, I have to clean
up all the water on the floor.
That part is not so fun.

I wish I had theluxurey of soaking in a tub and
playing with a kids toy but alas I have a shower
instead. oh my own bathroom has a tub but I cannot
use it because of my bad arm. so I borrow my son's
shower instead. I miss lolling in a tub of bubble
bath so much.

I think it's great that you can relax and play a little:) A lot of grown-ups think that they're too grown up to play games, but they miss so much in their lifes.
