Need to be verified?!

Hi mylotters,
I just received some funds into my unverified paypal account and I had made an arrangement with a friend a while back for an item. Now that I have money in my paypal and I am able to pay for the item...I see that I can't! It says my account needs to verified to send money...
I thought I would be able to send the money to him for sure, but I guess not.
Now my other question is, if I verify my account with a credit/debit card from my bank, does it get verified right away? What is the procedure? Do they send any statement (snail mail) to verify like with moneybookers? I just want to know how long I am going to have to wait and if I really do need to verify my account. I don't feel comfy with giving away my card details.

When you put in your bank account information, paypal will send two small amounts of cash to your bank account (they don't take it back), and you will have to go look at your bank account to see what those 2 amounts are. You will then have to go to paypal, and tell them those 2 amounts, and then voila! your account is verified. It shouldn't take long, but since it is the weekend, you may have to wait till Monday to see the updated amounts in your account. I have never had any problems with paypal since verifying my account, so they are trustworthy, besides, they are the biggest online payment processor!

If you use your bank account to verify, then it will take a few days for the amounts to be deposited, as the others said above. Less than a week, though. If you use your credit card, there is no wait; Paypal will just check to see if the card is valid automatically (nothing will be charged) and then you should be able to send money. Paypal is very trustworthy, I've used them for years and never had a problem. Just be sure you use a secure computer when you put in your information.

I agree with all the posts above so i dont have to leave the same information that they have which is good, I have had no dealings with money brokers and paypal is great for buyers and tough on us sellers. the fees kill me.

yes if you give a credit card or debit card it will happen right away, if you use a bank account you will get two transfers into your account that you have to verify in order to get that bank account verified.
What I did was open up a free checking account and put in a minimum amount of money in it like $1 to $5.00 - then I used that account so that I would not have to worry about tying my personal account to any of those paying sites. It is just good sense.
So if you do that, you would have to wait a few days unless you can look up your bank account up on line and then verify the amounts, but yeah, I think you have to have a credit card or a bank account in order to submit a payment via paypal, sorry hope you are able to get it done.

I think they deposit a few cents in two deposits in your checking account. I may be wrong with it comes to verified. If I am wrong, well, it won't be the first time LOL. But if I am thinking right then you go to the site and tell them how much the deposits are. Well, this may be when you open a paypal account. Well, roxanne, I am getting myself confused. LOL God bless you

Roxanne271, I'm glad you brought this up. I opened a paypal account to pay for something online but used my credit card. I have yet to verify my paypal account and wanted to but they were asking for my debit card details. I have a joint account with my husband and he does online banking from the office because he says it's safer from there. What I'm not sure about is when they said 'please enter your name as written on the bank statement'. Since we don't get any bank statements, the only thing I have from the bank that has our correspondence address is when they sent out our latest bank cards, and in it, it says 'Mr S N xyz and Mrs p xyz'. I'm not sure if I should enter this as my name as it says that my bank will charge me about $30 if I get it wrong. I would prefer to verify with my credit card but it doesn't seem to give me that option.

You need to add a bank account to get verified. It removes the sending limit.

If it is a JOINT account, either name will do because both names are on the account.
I believe what paypal is looking for is the exact name on the account, so you would put your whole first name and last name, not just the initial.
If you are confused you should ask your bank, as I'm sure they have had dealings with paypal before.

It is going to take a few business days and you'll have to actively check your account to find the amounts. At least it isn't as long as moneybookers. If you're feeling uncomfortable in verifying with credit, you could always put in for verification through a savings account like ING and HSBC. They provide you with a routing number so you can do these transfers.

I am until now not verified roxanne. I plan to open another bank account just for the pay pal purposes. I am not also very sure to give my account. But, for sure it is safe since no one ever complain here but it's better to be cautious. ANyway, I tried to bid at ebay one time thinking I can pay using my money there but, I dind't make it, they need to have an account.
