Hi everyone! Boy when it rains it pours. I havent been on since thursday morning. I woke up and couldnt catch my breath and the bottom of feet were blue.So hubby took my the hospital and my potasiam level was way too low. To the point if if I waited one more day I would have had a heart attack. So they put an IV with pottasiam in it. And boy does that burn. So right now I have to have my blood checked often. And on top of that I have to go to a heart doctor this week. They were monitoring my heart the whole time. My heart may be damaged because my feet turn still turn bule. But right now my pottasiaum level is normal. Anyway Im so glad to be home and missed you guys so bad. I was wishing I could let you know some how what happen. Anyway just wanted to let me sweet friends know. Hugs to all of you.

Sorry to hear about you not feeling well. You really need to watch your potasium it is really dangerous at low levels! My mom had started feeling really funny for awhile and they figured out her potasium was low she takes a prescriptiton of potassium now.
I hope that your heart was not damaged in the process let us know how it goes at the cardiologist I wish you the best.

I'm glad to hear that you're ok. I'm glad that you discovered it in time. How does the potassium work? Is it something your body isn't making properly? Anyhow, glad you're better for now.

Sure glad your hubby was there to rush you to the ER, Terry. After all you been thru, this is all you needed. Either start eating a ton of bananas or take potasiam pills to keep your levels where they belong. As for your feet turning blue, I wonder if it really has to do with your heart. My hubby has a bad valve in his heart and his dr. even took him off the meds for it but his feet never turned blue. Being you recently had surgery done on your neck, wonder if that might have anything to do with it. Just my thoughts but not positively sure thoughts. I missed you as well, Terry. Glad your back home again. Remember...keep that potasiam up.

What kind of meds? Whatever they are, must not be helping much for your potassium (finally did a sp on that sucker) to be dropping so low. Do you know why you have so much diahrrea? If not, your dr. should find out what exactly is causing it so he can treat it properly. Sending prayers your way that your heart wasn't damaged. HUGS

OMG Terry, I'm truly sorry to hear what you've been through..I've been thinking of you a lot lately as I did notice you've been missing. I'm so glad though you did go to the hospital when you did. Why was your potassium level so low to begin with...did they tell you? Was it triggered off somehow by your recent operation or any meds you're taking? Did they tell you to take potassium supplements? A good source of natural potassium is bananas believe it or not, so maybe you should stock up on them--here are other sources of potassium
Natural sources of potassium include avocados, bananas, citrus fruits, lentils, milk, molasses, nuts, parsnips, potatoes, raisins, canned sardines, fresh spinach, yogurt, and wholegrain cereals.
Here's the article all about potassium

Yes you would think the doctors when you had your operation might have caught on and notice if your potassium level was okay then

Hi Terry,
It's about 5 days after you posted this discussion. Sorry but it was buried in my 700 myLot emails but am glad I found it this morning. Are you feeling better each day? You've had a rough time lately and I feel so bad for you. Trying to recover from surgery and then have another problem. Doesn't seem fair.
Take care of yourself and hugs,
carolbee

I hope everything turns out ok for you, and that there is no damage to your heart. Keep us up to date, and take. Abbey xx

What are you like eh! Frightening us like that, you are not having much luck are you sweetie? I can only give you a special wolfie hug which is not much on the scale of things! I have missed you, but I can make you smile, Wolfie went on the hunt last night and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome, suffice to say his self esteem got pushed up a few notches! And happy to say that I feel much much happier now, it's amazing what a night out can do. You know where I am if you want to chat xxxx

ohmy terri thats dreadful. I am glad they found out what'was
wrong as potassium can be so tricky. my best friend Nelda
is one for taking a lot of supplements and she really overdid'
it on the potassium. she took way too much and it slowed her'heart down to about thirty beats a minute.she was panicked
and had an ambulance take her to our local hospital where
they gave her ivs of something to wash out the excess
potassium from her body. she was just in overnight but she
told me she had never been so frightened as she could hardly
walk for her heart was beating so slowly. she had had a heart attack two years ago and has a stent in. I would never take potassium as a supplement without knowing exactly how much to take. I am so glad that they got your potassium level back to normal again. take care now . hugs and keep well

So sorry that happened to you. Be very careful with yourself and I'm glad you can write about it now. I'll pray that your health continues to get better but be very mindful of your feet. They will tell you when things aren't right. As we get older we can't dismiss happenings and say "well I'm just getting old" We have to pay attention and examine our bodies and notice skin color, rashes, itching and pains of joints, pains of breathing, pains we would dismiss as indigestion. Those pains add up, as we get older we need to keep a diary so that when a physician asks, how long, since when, where on your body, you can at least present a personal diary with dates. That could just be a simple mark on a calendar or a detailed notepad. If you go to a hospital it is something your hubby can refer to. Like wise, if you have a log of his aches and pains you can quickly sort out for the physicians what was normal and what was not and it could help save his life. When our body breaks down, if we are lucky there are signs.....we just have to listen to them and be smart about it and take note....literally. If your husband needed help and was not able to talk you could grab his medical log and give his medication list and dosage to an attending rescue person. It saves precious time and gives the most accurate information when you don't exactly have your wits about you. Keep the information in a convenient form (pad, notebook, etc) for both of you, its a great piece of mind and can help you heal from this last scare. It is scarey for both of you and your families. If you prepare its the best you can do for each other and it gives the person in distress the best chances of a medical rescue. Think about it and talk about it. The choice is always yours.
