How would you like to get all this for just $30?
Menu
Main unit for June, $30:
1 1/2 pounds ribeye steaks
1 1/2 pounds hamburger patties
2 pounds pork riblets
4 pounds chicken leg quarters
2 pounds breaded chicken tenders
20 ounces supreme pizza
1 pound mild Italian sausage
24 ounces french fries
16 ounces sliced carrots
16 ounces mixed vegetables
32 ounces 2 percent milk
6 ounces pancake mix
15 ounces pork and beans
14 ounces catsup
7 1/2 ounces macaroni and cheese
1 dozen eggs
1 dessert item
You can if you order this package from the Angel Food Ministries , which is a National Organization, thru a participating church. You can order as many packages as you want. There is no income guidelines and they will accept food stamps as well. You can read the full story here... http://daily-journal.com/archives/dj/display.php?id=421686
A friend in FL told me about this program several years ago but there wasn't one in my area till now. This isn't just for one month, thou. It's every month but each month is different food items. I'm definately going to be participating being no more meat in the house. My daughter and I have been living off mac 'n' cheese, pb&j, etc. for the past 2mos. being I really need to catch up on my utility bills. Rather have roast instead of steaks but I'm not gonna complain. lol
Also, here is the link itself directly to their website that will help you find a local organization in your area... http://www.angelfoodministries.com/

Angel Food is fantastic! I just wish they were a bit closer here. But, yes, you get SCADS of food for the money. I've also done Share Food which overlaps Angel Food in our area (Philly Metro), but Share also has fresh fruits and vegetables where Angel Food is almost all canned and frozen (which is fine - not a complaint). It is really a Godsend for people who are having problems making ends meet but who have maybe only $40 or $50 to spare for groceries. The food I got there more than lasted a month for me and my daughter - but we don't always cook, so that helped, combined with my mother having us down, etc. Spread the word - everyone deserves to save money!!!

Hi Mooch. The Share Food Program in Philly covers from NY to MD, but I can't remember which part of MD. They have hosts throughout and there's probably one far closer than up in Philly where I go.
The link is: www.sharefoodprogram.org . They also have a link for areas outside theirs that might help if you don't fall within theirs. Right now, their value boxes are $19 and include fresh fruits and vegetables. They also have optional packs you can order of just meats or just farm fresh produce, etc.
Both programs are fantastic, I think.

I love Angel Food Ministries!
I've only picked up two months now, but have been more than happy with what I received for my $30. The only problem is, the closest distribution point was 25 miles away, so the gas price added to the $30 made it iffy as to whether it was worth it or not.
I logged on just a few days ago to check next month's menu and found that a church in the next town is now doing it so I'll only have to drive 8-10 miles, AND you can order and pay online via debit/credit card. How cool is that?

It's well worth the drive IF you have other errands to run that's close by the church as well. That's great another host site opened up closer to you and to be able to order/pay online is awesome!!! I was hoping to be able to do that as well but they don't do that here. I still have to go this weekend and place the order and then again another weekend to pick it up. I'm trying to colabrate other errands so I can make it worth the 40 mile round trip.

Can't you place the order by mail?
At the 'old' place, you could mail in the money order and they would mail back the receipt (you had to provide the envelope/stamp, though).
If picking up on month, you can also drop off the MO for the next month and get the receipt right there, saving $.84 cents in mailing costs too.
Since I can now order online, I won't have any mailing fees at all.

That's just it, Ldy. Our mail system is screwy. What should only take a couple days for a letter to reach it's receipient, takes weeks so mailing them a check wouldn't work cause they won't get it till lord knows when. hmmmmmm...wonder if I can send my order with check thru UPS. lol They seem to have everything together cause my pkgs. usually arrive way b4 the expected delivery date.

Thanks gabs. You sure you don't have anything similar to this in your country? I mean, 'National' to me is whole world, not just the US. Not too happy about the steaks but I certainly won't turn it down. Just throw them on the grill or maybe I'll try out the meat grinding feature on my electric multi-purpose grinder/grater/shredder for ground steakburgers.

I have heard a lot about this ministry but I have never ordered from them. I think that I like the June menu and I may have to try to get an order in for it. I know that my husband would love the steaks to grill out this year.
That is a lot of food for the money and we are always looking for ways to cut expenses and find some great deals on groceries. Thanks for the info and I am going to check out our local site.

Great post! I'm glad you found an outreach from the church. I've used Angel Food ministries in the past, our church was even a part of it. A lot of people don't know about this great ministry because they either don't go to church or they don't want charity. Its hard to admit you need some help but I'm glad that you found some. Tell everyone you know, even the people who don't need it sometimes feel compelled to give to others out of love and compassion.

Thank you and thanks to the local paper doing an article on it, more people will order packages being there are alot of people here that can't afford to buy food for their families. I've been spreading the word by mouth as well and have made up business-size cards with the name of the church and the phone number along with the prices of the packages to hand out as well.

Too bad it's not available in your area. I know alot of ppl overseas who would jump at the chance to participate. I was just telling my mom about this on the phone and she thinks it's an awesome deal as well. She's very tight with her money and she even admitted with her sales/coupons savey, she can't even get that much for $30. I'm going this weekend to place/pay for my order. Can only afford one box this time but will save enough out of my paycheck to get 2 or 3 orders the following month. My chest freezer will be happy again. It's been sitting unplugged for several months now.

I discovered them several months ago but haven't ordered yet because the pick up location if a few miles away. I never know if I will be in town or not on pick up day. I do plan to try them one day! It's a great organization.

The host site just opened up last month here so this is really new to our area. Even thou it's a 40mile round trip for me, I'm going to try and make several trips into one on order and pick-up day.

Thanks! Sounds like it's worth a try. I'm gonna check it out. I tried this once before. I don't remember the name of the program, but I was disappointed - especially with the fresh fruit. So, I'd rather stick to the frozen and canned goods. I'm gonna check it out right now. Thanks, again!

It might of been the sharefood program you are referring to, jalucia. They are the ones that provide the fresh veggies and fruit while Angel Missionaries provide canned veggies and fruit along with meat. Your welcome!

I have been wanting to try the packages. You cant beat the price. But the closest one was 30 minutes away. But they just built a new church 2 miles away so thats cool. I plan going in as soon as I can and order a package or two. I have heard alot of people saying how good the program is.
