Have you noticed that several restaurants are offering healthier choices on the kids menu? Depending on the place you can get fruit cocktail. Fresh fruit, or steamed broccoli. This works for us, my daughter only wants fries once in a while. We took our daughter out yesterday. She ate the celery and carrots some of my broccoli and only 1/2 of her entree' Does this make you feel better when eating out with the kids?

I think it is a great idea. I would not do much good for my son though. He would still pick fries. My daughter however loves broccoli. I ordered broccoli with her meal the last time I went to a sit down place for lunch. She got a bigger serving of broccoli than my brother who ordered an adult entree though, so she had a lot leftover.

I think it is good that they have healthier options as before it used to chicken nuggets and fries and thats about it! We cant afford to eat out that often however when we do I dont mind if they want chips and a burger but its nice to have the healthy options for them to choose from as sometimes they do choose something better than a burger.

I don't have small kids, but I am glad that they start doing that.
Any time I am in restaurant, I can see kids eating fries only and drinking coke.

I am happy to see more healthy choices offered. Sometimes we're away from home and need to eat out and we don't want meal after meal of something and fries. Sometimes we'll choose the fries and other times we'll stick with the more healthy options.

I wish they offered this when my daughter was young- she would always choose fruit and veggies over other stuff.
But, with my boys...if we're eating out I let them get whatever. It's a treat and eating unhealthy stuff on occasion is ok. So, I don't worry about it. I offer it to them, but they usually opt for fries.

It is nice they are considering the children. There are alot of obese children and healthy eating should really start at an early age. Seeing that this is happening will encourage parents to take out their children more often.

Several restaurants have done so much to add fruits and vegetables. But kids would love to eat fries. My son would eat just that if it is on the menu. But coke is not allowed for my kid anyway. He is 2 years plus. As he eats a balanced meal at home, I am not worried if he does that while he is away from home.

I think it is great that they offer a better healthier selection now some don't have the excuse that they can't eat healthy and dine out. Now they are given more and better choices so the restaurants are leaving the choices up to them to what they want to eat.

I have not actually noticed it in the restaurants themselves, but I do take surveys on all kinds of things and have seen that they are now offering healthier food choices for children. My daughter is now 16 she she doesn't order from that menu anymore. I think it is great that they offer that food now. My daughter always wanted a chicken nugget or chicken strips though. She loves cucumbers.

I would not really know about healthier choices. That would imply I've been paying attention to what kids used to be served. When I go out, It all looks like the same kind of junk at the restaurants. Not a lot of real options where kids are concerned. Not as far as I can see.
in my humble opinion

We eat out so rarely that I don't really care if they eat fries and burgers on that occasion. But it is nice to see that the menus show healthier choices now. Unfortunately, thus far, I hardly ever see a parent really take advantage of it, or the kids don't eat it. Like those apple things at McDs. Health conscious parents get them for the kids but most kids just frown. I think they look nasty to begin with, lol.

My kids aren't really interested in the 'healthy' fruit and veg. when we eat out, which is OK because we don't eat out that often so I don't mind if they choose unhealthy but tasty food. We tend to see eating out as a treat and my kids just don't view fruit and veg. as a treat.

I don't have kids, but I do agree with the healthier options on the menu. I'm also pleased that your kid seems to like healthier food. That says a lot about he wonderful job you are doing in raising your children.
