What did you have for dinner tonite? Anything good? different?

I fixed a different dinner tonight out of the norm for mid-week. Actually it was a mistake but once the meat was thawed I had to cook it. I thought I was taking a regular beef roast out of the freezer, but I took venison terderloins. I decided to go ahead and cook them on top of the stove as I would a pot roast. It turned out so good with a dark gravy. Hubby loved it and told me dinner was great. I fixed rice and also steamed brocolli. So what did you have for dinner tonite? Anything out of the ordinary? The usual? Or something totally unplanned like I did?

I'm actually not having dinner tonight because I had a decent sized brunch (4 egg omelette, bacon and toast), my husband is at his mums and there's leftovers for the kids if they want or they can fix something else for themselves

Way to go Ravenlady! Everyone should take the night off of cooking every now and then.

We both got home late tonight so we had a quick meal. From the freezer to the oven and to the table in 20 minutes was chicken terriaki wings. Also had cantalope slices on the side and a nice salad. All in all, a pretty ordinary dinner!

I had harvested some long beans and some baby leaves of sweet potato from my little veggies garden just now. I am going to stir-fry the baby leaves with paste prepared from dried shrimps, chopped garlic, onion and red chilies. My husband loves this spicy dish to eat together with plain rice very much. I would fry the long beans with mushroom slices and canned pork. It is simple but delicious. Of course we will have our herbal soup in the same time for our dinner tonight.

Sounds great and very creative! I wish I had time for a garden. We did put out a couple tomato plants and green pepper plants. That's about all I can keep up with since working full time.

Yeah, it is rather difficult for a full time working person to have extra time for his favorite activities. It is really nice to start a small veggies garden as we could exercise and harvest the crops as well. I had tried to plant tomato before and the plants grew well but they couldn’t bear any fruits in the tropical climate here

I'm hoping to get at least a couple of tomatoes for salads. Oh and can't forget about bacon and tomato sandwiches! Those are the best!

I have been lucky since Friday. I had day surgery on Friday. So since then my youngest daughter (21 years old) has been cooking dinner for me. She loves to cook. And she loves finding new recipes. So I have had someone else cooking for me the last few nights. Monday night she did a chicken greek salad. It was so good. Last night she fixed chicken nuggets and chips. Tonight she is going to do tacos.

I am lucky. I have two grown daughters. And they are willing to be there for me in both the good times and the bad. Some people (even family) are more than happy to be there for you when things are going good. But will disappear during the bad times.

Sounds great to me! I've never tried a stir fry on my own, but I've used the pre-packaged meals in the frozen section of the grocery. Some of those are good and some are not..LOL. I hate the high sodium content. Maybe you can share your recipe?

Plate of French Toast - This is dinner a plate of french toast
I made french toast for dinner, as have lots of bread and eggs. It wasn't planned; however, I'm looking for as many different meals I can make with the items that are on sale that week. I will be hunting on recipe boards for recipes to use eggs, as bought 2 dozen. Any recipe ideas are welcomed using eggs. I don't want any of them to go bad.

That sound good, my husband loves French Toast and could eat it anytime or anyday!! You can do another breakfast dinner with a nice omelet! I'm going to be paying more attention to the sales myself now. I have to do anything and everything I can with the rise of gasoline. We also have higher electricity bills in the summer so this won't be fun for the next 3 months.

Yes, with the high temperatures we are trying to do the same. I'm also trying to use what is in the house without running to the store all the time for one or two items. That is going to stop cold turkey.

Yes. My dinner was totally unexpected and unplanned. Lightning hit a transformer near our neighborhood. We were without power starting at 1 in the afternoon. I kept calling for updates and they kept saying it would be fixed by 4. Well, it didn't come back on and I had already taken out ground beef to cook. I called again and they said 7 so, we had to go out to dinner. We tried a Mexican Restaurant that we used to go to all the time until they closed in order to relocate. The new location and the building is beautiful and the food is still great. We got home at 8 and the power was back on.

We had BBQ beef pizza from Pizza Hut last night for dinner. It is only 11 in the morning here right now so haven't had dinner today yet. I am going to thaw out some hamburger and most likely have hamburger helper for supper tonight.

It's nothing special for my dinner ,as I live on my own.Although I live with my boyfriend, but he 's away on business most of the month,so it's pretty much just me all by myself.I just don't have the patience to cook if it's just me.I really hope he could be around most time, then I shall be able to make some good dinner.

We had our normal fall back of chicken and broccoli casesrole with bow tie pasta. It is one my daughter's favorite meals. She didn't eat a great lunch today so I made it to get a good meal into her belly. She ate so much I thought she would burst. Now we have tons of leftovers so we'll be eating it for days.

Tonight we had yellow rice and chicken. but my mom forgot to take the guts out and so we couldn't use the water we had boiled the chicken in for the rice. So i had to make my own chicken broth to use for the rice. Which I've never done before.. but it came out really good! and dinner was better then usual actually. I might start doing it that way more often now because making your own broth adds more flavor then just using the water the chicken was cooked in.. and i add peas to my yellow rice and chicken after its done cooking. I'll be having left overs for lunch tomorrow. hehe

We had the usual for a weekday...frozen meatballs cooked in the microwave and dumped in Ragu sauce with pasta. Hubby wasn't feeling well today and I was swamped at work so the last thing either one of us wanted to do was cook for real.
