If you could start over, and know what you know now, what would you change?

I have often thought, after horrible things have happened in my life, "If I could go back and change things, would it still have happened? And if I did, would it just make other things go wrong instead?"
I would like to know your thoughts and if you would change anything.
The only thing I wish I could change is to bring my son back. The rest I can handle.

We all learn things and all we can do is strive to be better. But of course I think about dumb things I did in my past when I was ignorant or just immature, and how if I would have known then what I know now, I wish I could take things back. I'm very sorry about your son - I don't know your story, but I'm a person that believes all things happen for a reason. It may be difficult to see the reason or good in it now, but sooner or later it will be revealed. I've experienced many deaths among family growing up - starting from early on, but now when I look back I realize if those things hadn't occurred, I wouldn't be where I am today - the type of person I am today. God has a reason for everything.

I believe as you do. It does not make it any less painful to lose someone but it makes it easier to accept.

I personally believe that many of the obstacles and challenges we face are just what is meant to be and our souls need to learn to be complete. It doesn't stop us from wishing it could be different, for some things, like losing a loved one, but I know I am the person that I am because of those things. I don't want to be the person I was. Not that I was bad, but that I have more to offer because of those things.

I used to think there were alot of things that I would like to change but then I realized that those things were learning blocks for me...they are what made me who I am.
Once I went to the store with two friends to look at the Christmas stuff. I was like 17 at the time. When we left the store we were arrested for shoplifting. It turned out that the other two had stolen stuff from the store. They were both 16 so their parents were called and they went home. I was 17 so I was booked even though I hadn't taken anything, I was still with them...my Mom had to bail me out. I paid a fine, go to court and all that. Looking back on it, it taught me a valuable lesson...I don't shop with anyone except my family.

There are so many things that happen in life that we wish could be changed. But like you mentioned before it is a fear that if these things didn't occur what would have happened instead. I try my best to cope with all the difficult situations even if they make no sense at all. Nanjanet I am sorry to hear of your loss. I couldn't imagine dealing with it. So I hope every thing works out for the best in your life.

I'm sorry about your son. I can understand why you would want to change that. As for me, I would not change a thing. I like who I am now. All the things that happened to me, good and bad make me who I am today. I think the bad things have had more of an impact on my evolution than anything else. I also think if I did change my mistakes I would just have made others so I would stick with what I have...lol.
