You know how you will go to purchase an item, and before you got in line to purchase the product.. You find out that this product was in the right slot.. I mean you checked the price on the price tag on the shelves, and everything matches. But when you go up front to pay for the item, it rings up at a different price. And much expensive that is..What did you do? Since, the item was not the price that you expected it to be, did you still get it anyway, or just tell the cashier that you don't want it?

If that happens to me, I'll speak up and say that I don't want to pay more for something than it was listed, and if it was in the wrong slot it is their problem for not keeping their store more organized, and not mine.

The customers sometimes disorganize the store. They pick up an item, walk around with it, then decide they really don't want it and drop it anywhere in the store and get things mixed up on the shelves. It's very hard for the store to police this to keep it organized every minute. Most stores don't have enough employees to constantly keep it organized. The shoppers themselves, cause alot of this problem.

that happens to me all the time at this supermarket i go to. i wait there and make them go and check the price. Once they ring up my stuff i stand there and go over every single number to make sure everything is correct. if i see something is not right then i have them check it, and if it is too much then i ask for my money back.

I had this exact thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. This happened at Sam's Club and they actually had someone go and get the tag for this item. I've been wrong in the past about things like this, so I wasn't sure. Since it wasn't too busy at that time, I decided that I wanted to wait. Well, the girl took her time getting the tag, but when she got it, it definitely said what I said it was and I got it for that price which was 25% cheaper than it really was.
I usually contest the price if I think it's wrong. If I'm right, I get the item for the price I said it was. But, if it's really super busy, I pass on the item.

hi cream!
yeah. that happened to me a couple of times. there were times that i returned it and there were times that i bought it anyway. i guess it depended on my need of that item. if i really need it, then i would still buy it if it were expensive than the price i saw. if i don't really need it, i will return it. but there was a time when i did buy something out of a whim. ^__^;; it was a monokuro boo ID holder which i really loved the instant i saw it. i thought it wasn't expensive but when i reached the cashier, it was really expensive because it was an original stuff. i was shocked but i love it just the same so i bought it.

I hate it when that happens. What a waste of time? The issue is that it is always in the stores favor. How often does ti happen that you actually get a better price? not too often.

I've had that happen and I tell them I don't want it. Things are too expensive nowadays and I'm on a tight budget. Now, if everything matched, I would have it checked and it's obviously not entered in the register so I might take it to customer service and walk back to the shelf with the person then I might get it at the listed price or at some stores I'd get it for free.

I am a cheapskate so I would say something and if they dont give me that price I will not buy it. Most places will give you the price listed if you can prove it.

I have had this happen to me a couple of times and I hate when it does. It really depends on the item. It seems to happen to me alot at kmart. Sometimes I will put it up and other times I will just say I will get it anyway.

this has happened to me before. in fact, it has happened several times. what i did was tell the cashier the price on the register is wrong. they'd usually check and get back on the correct price. if the price stated on the shelves is wrong, i'll just not take the item. i had taken the product believing that the price is as stated on the shelves. if it's much more expensive, i don't think it'll be in my basket in the first place. i don't believe in paying more for an item if i can help it. with prices today, i can't afford to pay more for anything. cheers ;p

i experience this before. i am lucky i bought my card so instead of withdrawing it because i am ashamed to tell the cashier i don't like the item, many people at my back wait for their turn so i give the cashier my card and she swipe to the TOS terminal immediately, because of that experience i have now fear of shopping because i stop using card lately, i prepare to pay in cash rather than credit.

I hate when that happens. I just had that happen and I said something to the lady who rang it up. She offered to get someone to check it out but I was in a hurry and said never mind and just paid for it. Part of me wishes I would have went ahead and made them check it out because I would have saved 2.00 and that was the only reason I was buying the product. But I hated to stand around and wait which is exactly what i knew I would be doing while they tried to sort it out.

Angry,angry and more angry....!
I hate it when that happens. if the item is really important for me to get i still buy it, if not i leave it right there in the store.
They do that a lot where i live.

They have to sell it to you at the posted price. I have always been the type to speak up and get it at the posted price. Only once have they refused and I haven't been back to that store since then. Some people think I'm being silly but the manager was really rude and if they lose enough people over that guy maybe they will fix the problem. Yes I did call the corporate office to tell them why I had decided to stop shopping there.

Happens a lot especially at Walmart. I always check to make sure on things that have a good price and even if I tell them that it is marked on the shelf a different price I rarely get the lower price.

Yep, it happened to me a few times. I will highlight it to the cashier. They will usually check out the discrepancy there and then for me.
Usually, they will pay me back the amount they over charge due to the over sight of not updating their register when they change the pricing of the product. No big deal.
There are also times when they tell me that the cash register is right. I will then decide whether to purchase the product in question or not.
Most times, I will reject the item there and then and demand a refund or an exchange of goods that I feel is a better substitute.

If it's not what it said on the shelf or rack, you can bet I will tell the cashier what the shelf or tag said. I've had arguments before and put back large orders over this very thing. One time I was at the grocery store early in the morning and had to go back the next day since the service desk was closed........they had already started taking the sales items off the computer BUT the signs were still up in the store so the customers weren't aware that the sale was actually over. I saved almost $30 even if I did have to return to the store.

I haven't had this happen to me personally but I can tell you why it happens. I work for Wal Mart as a customer service manager and I know sometimes when there are new sales, it is not always possible for us to get all the new prices into the system right away. So when the merchandise is rung up at the old price, we just void it out, price override it for the new price.
