Discipline or child abuse?

A 13 year old boy was "acting up" so his father and step-mother tied him to a tree outside overnight. They let him back in the next day, but then tied him to the tree again. He ended up dying! This is just crazy! Both of the adults are facing murder charges! Social services have taken to other children out of the home. What a place to grow up!

That is called child abuse not discipline. There is no reason for a parent to go to such lengths. It's an aweful way for a child to live and die. I'm glad they took the rest of the kids, but I wish the child could have been saved.

I could not find the article, but I cannot imagine anyone tieing their child outside for a night or at all. I cannot imagine how their families are feeling. I hope the other children do not get separated and get the love they deserve.

I think that is abuse. I have restricted my kids from things. I took the phone out of my daughter's room and left the answering machine. I grounded them so they could not go anywhere. They usually snuck out any way. But tying a kid to a tree, no way.

This is horrible. Usually it is just a thin line between discipline and abuse but this is a gap the size of the grand canyon. How can anybody feel that it is appropriate to tie a child to a tree over night? I mean come on. I think they should recieve the max.

This is not discipline at all. It is child abuse. I hope noth of his parents are at least in jail for the rest of there lives. I am glad that child services took the other childern out of there home.
