I Turned 20 Yesterday, Am I Suppose to Feel Different?

Yesterday was birthday, woo hoo! And I turned 20. I am now, no longer considered a "teen", and my most dispised unthinkable nickname, "kiddo". I feel a day older, and I feel no real change.
When your birthday comes around, how do you feel? Old? Young? Happy? or do you try to forget it in hopes that others will too?

Well happy late birthday. I'm still 19 and I'm kind of scared to hit the big 20! It's like going to be so weird. But I guess I won't really feel anything because all my birthdays I've still felt the same way. But I kind of can't wait till I'm 20 because as you said I won't be considered a teen anymore.

That's definitely true. I am truely happy I am no longer considered a teen. Although, being called kiddo is something I will probably still be called. I had a nice day to relax, so it was a nice birthday.
20 feels the same 19. At 21, I guess, there will be a big change. Need a new lisence and then you can finally, legally, take a drink (US).

Yeah we can finally drink. But that is so dumb that we have to wait till we are 21 but we can do other stuff when we are already 18. I see it as dumb to tell you the truth.

I don't know if I'll be thinking about it too much--my birthday happens to fall two days after Halloween, and the last one I celebrated was my 30th--the last I had with my mom. Actually, this year will be my 37th and a day after mine and my man's 5th anniversary--he better have something good planned! (It also happens to be his younger son's 19th).
As for you--HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL! And don't worry about being called kid or kiddo...I was still being called that as recently as 2 years ago...my man and I are nearly 11 years apart and that was his special name for me (until I told him I felt foolish)--now he calls me m'dear!

Thank you! I have't considered myself a teen for quite some time, but the age was never there to go along with the thoughts. I don't feel different. Just a day older.
Happy early birthday. = )

I do not think you feel any different at that young age. When you hit the big number's it gets to you. Like 30, 40 ,50. I do not think it gets to you until you start seeing the sagging and wrinkles. You will feel different when you fined your first gray hair. I felt older when my son was starting his first year of high school. All I could think was where have all the years gone. I remembered like it was yesterday his first words and steps. It made me feel old. I think the years all blend together after a certain age and you learn to enjoy things more the older you get.

I don't have wrinkles yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting worry lines her soon. My son is turning 1 in August, and it feels like yesterday I brought him home, or even that I found out that I was pregnant. I already feel old. I jumped on to the responsibility wagon before my time. I guess that means I'll be hitting my mid-life crisis here soon too.

Happy Belated Birthday :)
At my age, birthdays are just a note to myself that I have a new number to remember if someone asks my age LOL For you, you are still very young and they may mean something still but it doesn't mean you'll feel all that different.
I will tell you something an older friend told me when I turned 20 and it was true:
When you are 20 you think the years go by so slowly getting to that point where you are finally a "grown up". When you are 40 you look back at the last 20 years and wonder "Where did they go?".
Enjoy each day as it comes, my friend :)

I already feel like time has flown by, and I think I'm in need of a mid life crisis already.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. = )

Happy Belated birthday. I hope you had a good day.Looking back ,I was suppose to feel differently when I turned 20 but I didn't. The milestone birthdays I really remember are 18 and 30. On my 18th birthday, I had a cold so we celebrated a week earlier. I felt free. I made it. And on my 30th, well actually 2 months after, I went to New Orleans with my mom. It was a great trip.On my birthday I usually don't think about my age, I think about the tradition I have. we go to Uno's and have cake.

Happy 20th! I felt the same way when I turned 20 years old.
I didn't start feeling like a grown up until my daughter was
one year old. And, I was thirty one years old.
How's that for a long childhood!
I really hung onto my youth for as long as I could.
I was the classic spoiled princess.
Now I am raising a second generation spoiled princess
and have proudly handed over the crown to my worthy
successor!
Don't worry. By the time you hit my age you'll feel it!
I promise!
Stay young.

Belated happy birthday lucky charm. Your not too old for your age. Just kidding. I am 27 years old, and you know what? I don't mind celebrating it because I don't want to feel that I am getting older.lolI am trying to forget my age though what else can I do, accept it and just wish as soon as possible I get marry and have a good family soon cause I don't want to be alone.
Happy birthday again my friend, until the next post.

Thank you!
I don't feel any different. I was pregnant at 18, spent 19, half and half, and now 20. I grew up a little bit before I was suppose to. So I haven't been a child, or felt like a child for a few years now. Good luck with getting married, someone will come along when you least expect it!
Thanks again!

When you reach 30, then ask if you feel any different...lol. I just turned 30 yesterday(June 20) and I truly do feel different. Mostly it is in my head and nothing has really changed. But I understand what you mean. I have the loss of my 20's and I am already hating it. I feel as if I am going down hill. Even though they say that you are over the hill at 40. HAPPY Belated Birthday

Hey, happy belayed birthday! I'm usually happy on my birthday although there been a few years which I was sad. However, its always a happy day for me as I will celebrate it with my three close friends either on that day or earlier and I will get my favourite food plus no scolding from anyone on that day. I know it must be kinda sad to be out of the teen category because I'm still a teen and I don't want to enter the twenties yet.

Belated happy birthday. =) It depends on what age I turned into. Ha ha. When I turned 21, I was feeling so bold. When I turned 29 a month ago, I felt so old already but happy at the same time. =)

If you are straining to think or feel different, you are doing it wrong. Age and growth are more of a passive journey. At least the changes are passive results from your acts and your own experience. Things may also change slowly physically and mentally, but many changes you may not want. Better to take those changes as slowly as possible instead of questioning it too much, you may push your luck.
When my birthday comes around I don't feel a change or anything. Its another year and I've got my health. Even years from now, birthdays will be alright.
Ah and no matter what happens Luckycharm, you'll still be a teen in some thinking, and you DEFINITELY be a kiddo to a few elder family members. Can't be changed, young one!

Just a year older and that was about it. You have to remember that each year your age will increase by one and continue too. But your young and life is just starting for you so have fun. Also have a happy birthday. Eventhough this post is 18hrs old still have a good day.

Happy birthday to you. Congrats on your b-day. Ohh to be 20 again lol. I don't even want my b-day to some at all. I don't like a big deal made out of it and would rather just let it quietly pass me by. My husband and children though think otherwise. They always do something nice for me and I get a ton of phone calls that day. I guess it isn't so bad when I realize they do it out of love and not just to embarrass me lol. I just don't like being the center of attention.

Happy Birthday to you! When it's my birthday, the thing I look forward to the most is the birthday greeting and wishes that my friends send me. Sometimes, i don't even expect an acquaintance to remember my birthday so when they do it's really uplifting. So on my birthday, I don't feel old or young but happy and blessed to have met so many incredible people.

Belated happy birthday to you. :)
I turned 24 last month and should I supposed to feel different now that I'm 24? hehehe.. of course I do. I always do when my age is up one higher. hehehe.. you're getting old and it means you have to take responsibilities on your won. It feels like you're supposed to be more mature this time.
The night of my birthday I wrote few things that I want to achieve or have at 24 and focus to have it all. :)
