Did you see the news that the Red Cross is now having to borrow money so that they can help those in need? The Red Cross is always ready at any time to help and now they need our help. Remember they are helping those people in the midwest suffering the effects of the floods. They help anyone who needs help. We need to help them now.

As many non for profit probably paid way too much for full time people working for company.
I know they help for many people. Hard to believe they run out of money. It is poor management knowing how many people donate money.
I would still help them, but also I have to double check how they distribute the money so far.
I am running my free garage sale, means all money I collect will go for people affected by flooding.
I need to know who I am going to give money.
Purple Heart, Salvation Army or Red Cross...

So true. I don't know how much the Red Cross spends on "administrative" chores. It was supposed to be one of the better managed ones. You are right when you say that we need to check on the finances of any group before we donate to them. Those who have the lowest costs for paid stuff should be better. Paid employees and other costs can take away from the money needed to help others.

Yup, it is a little sad that one of the groups who are always there to help us in any situation is now in trouble themselves. I can only speculate that maybe people are not donating the way they did because of their own money issues. When you add that to the large number of disasters it is a no win situation.
