it seems that the local mcdonald's here in my area are hiring staff that are getting ruder and ruder.yesterday i ordered breakfast in the drive through, paid and went to next bay to collect food.the young girl there handed me my food and 2 of my drinks,i was waiting then for my coffee.she looked at me and said "what are you waiting for".i said "my coffee".she then looked on the screen and realised her mistake, then promptly very rudely said"i am not a bloody mind reader".well i nearly jumped out of my car, ready to throw my coffee all over her i was that mad.how rude was she? what would ahve you done.cheers sue

I would have felt the same way. What I would have done was slam my car in park right there in the drive-thru and marched myself into the store and demanded to talk to the manager.
I know that we all have bad days, but that's over the top. Completely uncalled for no matter how bad a day she was having.
You should still do something about it, even calling the store and talking to the manager.

When it comes to MacDonald...
Everybody should have watched "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas.
He had the solution on how to deal with MacDonald.

If I'd had the time, I would have gotten out of my car and gone in to see the manager. My goodness, in this economy with jobs getting scarce, I would like to hope that there are lots of kids who can't find summer jobs that are willing to give good customer service. I hope so at least. My daughter worked at McDonald's for years while she was in high school nd they would never have been allowed to get away with that.
At the least, I would have called the manager when I had time and reported the girl. I'm sorry you had to go through this.

I would have gone in and complained to the manager, unless of course I was with my kids and then I would have been even madder and maybe even more likely to do it just to prove a point to them.McDonalds is constantly getting sued for their employees, which would make you think they would make their employees be nicer to the customer. I think awhile back ago someone made fun of somebody with a disability and there was a lawsuit fought.
You probably could have at least gotten a free breakfast. But then you think about what a pain in the butt it is to complain to the manager and all that and then what if he or she is a jerk too?
So the best thing to do is say oh well, and maybe not eat there anymore if you can. We've stopped going to PIzza Huts for this reason, even though we love their food. We just kept having terrible experience after terrible experience and finally said that's enough! we're not going back!

yes i had my children with me and even my 17 year old daughter said she was rude and was shocked that she even said it.i think people forget about customer service now and i would also consider not going back to this particular store.i don't think these big companies get it anymore and don't care.cheers sue

I'd have just said excuse me. I need to speak with the manager and I refuse to drive away until then.

yes a few people said i should have stopped the car and demanded to speak with the manager there and then, but i was late for work, but i did call the manager later.i think it would have been funny to hold up all the traffic, that would have embarrassed her.cheers sue

I definitely agree with you... i had a lot of bad experience with customer service at mcdonalds... and i even went to a shouting bout with one of the crew members some years ago... it involved gravy... and the crew being too lazy to get one for me...
If the situation you wrote here happened to me... it would take a lot of control for me not to throw the coffee to that person... and i will surely report here to the manager...

i thought about throwing the coffee, but i really did not want to waste it..it is definately getting harder to get get decent customer service at these places nowadays.i think these type of kids expect us to bow and scrape to them, even when we are paying for their service.cheers sue

I would have turned my car off and sat there and told her I wanted to see the manager right now. She'd have to do soemthing as I would be holding up traffic and someone would have had to come take care of it. It'd then said, please refund my money. I'm sorry, I am so tired of rudness in people these days. I try so hard to be nice and all, but boy lately there just seems to be more rudeness out there and it just jump in my face so often, I just can't seem to let it slide anymore. Why should I? If they are going to be rude, I guess I can be honest back!

I don't like staff or crews treating customers like this. I am a crew before in McDonald's and I see to it to be nice and friendly to them. I encountered crew like this when I am eating in McDonald's and I see to it to report them to their superior manager. This is my right as a customer. McDonald's is fast and friendly food chain but it seems that the other crews are not performing their task during their working hours. They are paid enough for this so they must do their job appropriately. As a crew you have to be attentive and fast in providing your customer a good service whatever work you have.

She works as McDonalds and has the nerve to talk to you like that? I would have pulled into a parking spot, got out, asked to speak to the girl and the manager, and then told the girl that she had no right to talk to me like that while demanding that my breakfast be free. No one has a right to be rude. I hate rude people and they should be called out for it in front of everyone.

I would have told her to wash her mouth out? Then I would have made a fuss untill I saw the manager? I would have demanded she should be fired, there is no need to speak to anyone like that. It wouldnt be any good saying sorry! That wouldnt cut with me! They would offer you free food but that is not the answer? We had to wait 16min for an order once and I complained we were given free food at the cost of £18. fast food I dont think so?????????????

yes i think the time you wait for food in a fast food outlet is appalling and you have to check that you got everything as well.well i spoke to the manager and all he said was sorry and he would speak to her,he didn't even offer me a free cup of coffee.cheers sue

Hey Sue
I hate rude staff members so much !!. They do not know how to respect their customers. I have this similar experience when I went to a bowling center at my place and I asked them if there are any lanes for me and my friends as it was ful and they told me to wait and then when I asked for the second time they answered me rudely by saying, 'there's no lanes available. can't you just wait?'. I juz hate these type of staff who do not realize that we as customers have the right to ask anything because we pay for it !!!

yes it is certainly not a way to run a business, being rude.i would have said a few choice words to the person at the bowling alley,or told them i will go elsewhere.as you said we pay good money for these services,at least we deserve a bit of respect.thanks for sharing .cheers sue

I would have said:
"Excuse me, but have you ever had any etiquette training? Because you sound ridiculously rude for a restuarant attendant."
I think that as technology improves, the complexity and depth of languages, therefore manners etc, decreases in terms of quality. Slang talk and txt language is being used more often and sooner or later, the way to greet people formally would be "yo, wassup dawg".

Well I would have been seething for sure, did you get her name? First and foremost that is the most important thing to do, get a name, with that you can make a formal complaint either in writing or to the head office. Of course if you could have always demanded to see the manager and caused a queue behind you that would have got things sorted pretty quick and you could have told the manager what she said and whether they condone rudeness, if the manager's response was not acceptable then take his name too, follow it up, because there is no excuse for rudeness, even if the girl that served you had a bad day, you never take it out on your customers regardless. I wouldn't let it go but then I'm a stubborn wolf! Grrr I am seething here for you!

if i had time wolfie i would have like to have stopped the car and hold up the cars,it certainly would have got the managers attention for sure, but i was late for work.actually i think it would have been funny.i did ring the manager and he knew straight away who i was talking about, and he was not impressed with what she said,he was going to talk to her.i was definately seething.thanks wolfie.cheers sue

I would have gone inside to the manager. I've seen things similar to yours here at ours too. I would get on their website and post a formal complaint. I've seen the so-called managers who were women use the ladies room and not even wash their hands!!!

i actualy rang the manager later on in the day and he was shocked, but he knew who it was as soon as i said what she said,so she was known to him,and a few other people had complained about her.that is shocking about the one who did not wash her hands,it makes you wonder.cheers sue

I also have noticed that service from local fast food restaurants is getting worse as the staff take their anger of you.If I was in that situation I would slap her and tell her to learn manners.
