Do You Chatter And Talk To Yourself As You Type? LOL! :)

I never really paid attention to this habit of mine until recently...
Here I was responding to a discussion on MyLot about cooking for money or something, and I noticed that I was chirping and chattering away, in rhythm with my typing... This habit probably come from my being a musician-- I used to play the guitar and piano, and about 8 other instruments, as well as sing too...
I'm guessing that my brain thinks of the computer's keyboard as another musical instrument.
I noticed this chatter because, for once, it was quiet around here at 4:30 am, no sirens, no loud TV or music... Not even birds were making any noises.
There was a six car collision right outside of this building earlier, lots of sirens, flashing lights and stuff so I'll guess that the neighborhood had had it's quota of noise and mayhem for the evening...
(One of my Clients is gonna flip when he sees how his parked SUV got wrecked, when returns home from work-- I warned him days ago, to get rid of it, but nobody listens to me...)
So now, I'm gonna have to see if I chatter or warble like a bird, when I'm typing in public places, too!
I usually wear headphones when I'm working in public, so I can blast music and have a good time, while I'm sharing stuff with you fine folks! :)
Hopefully, nobody will throw a net over me and take me away to the Ha-Ha Hotel for this curious habit! LOL!
Do you guys notice yourself chatting or humming or talking away to yourselves as you type?
Here's some laughs from one of my Apsense articles, as a reward for your taking the time to make a comment! :)

Good Lord! I talk to myself all the time. Not just when I'm typing or cooking. ALL THE TIME! I don't means chirping or singing, as you described (though I do that too), but I always thinking out loud or talking to inanimate objects. I had a family gathering at my house one summer (annual pool party) and my sister's partner walked in and asked me who I was talking to. He said my sister talks to herself too. He thought it was weird. I honestly thought it was a woman thing. I thought we all talked to ourselves because no one else will listen to us!
As a writer, and having played pretend/make-believe long past the age I should have been, I even act out scenes out loud. I was alone at the kitchen table one day and acted out a whole seen out loud playing both characters. How else am I going to know if the scene works or not?
Maybe it's me. Maybe I just can't shut up!

Yeah, It's definitely a Guy Thing, too, Pat!
I carry hundreds of recipes in my head from Medievel times to the present Day, it seems! LOL!
When I go shopping, I talk recipes out and hum and sing to several grocery items... I have had security trailing me from time to time, and I had no idea why! LOL!

Honestly? When I'm in a store and there is someone standing next to me I expect them to respond. I am in a way talking to them but in most cases they don't respond, but sometimes they do. Like when I comment on a product or a price or out of stocks. I have no problem talking to strangers. It's a small town; we're all friendly here... well maybe not ALL.

Yes, there are times when I chatter and talk to myself while typing. I think this is because I have the tendency to think out loud. Well, this happens to me not only while typing. I also do this while driving. But I guess I wouldn't do such while in other people's presence. I am afraid they might think I am crazy or something. LOL!

Ditto, Dolce_vita! :)
With all the crazies that live around here anyway, I usually try not to unconsciously immitate them... There are several hopitals and group homes that one or two residents manage to escape from every now and again, and the cops might just grab one of us writers, whilst we are in our "creative mode"! LOL! :)

Yes, I do talk to the computer, and also to the television. I will be fine with it unless either of them answers me! I know my mother used to tell us when we were growing up that it was okay to talk to yourself just so you didn't answer.....I do that, too. I am sorry that mom is gone, but glad that she isn't right here to hear me answering myself when I talk to myself. My kids used to yell at me when I would sit at the table with the headphones on at Christmas time and sing the Christmas carols with the walkman while they were trying to watch the television.

I still talk to my deceased relatives at times, Idowrite...
Especially when I'm doing stuff that I have learned from one of them-- It's not so strange these days, but it's bound to get you some stares, if you do it around folks that aren't used to you! :)

I talk to myself all the time, I do not have to be typing! Mine comes from the fact that in my house I am the only one who is able to have a serious conversation. The other adults in my house either turn everything to smut, take the rip out of me or just do not listen, so if I talk to myself then I know I will get a sensible convo or answer!

That's a Gemini skill, if there ever was one! :)
I do hope that you will find some folks to talk to that are on your own level! :)

Well most of them are on here, even though I am not always on at the same time as everyone, it is still adult conversation. Bliss!

I don't think that I chirp or anything while I talk. Unless, I am listening to music or responding to a discussion about music. I will read things outloud sometimes, but not so much anymore. I can't really type and talk at the same time, because I can't think about two things at once. Have a Great day.

You perhaps have more of a concentration on your Inner- self, and therefore can choose to be quiet, while you are working or typing...
Actually, most people on MyLot need the concentration because, as most of us know...
If you make errors while typing here and you forget to check them before you post, you'll be looking at some funny goofs in your writing forever! :) LOL!

I am going through all of my MyLot posts, as I have been away from here for about a year... It's exquisitely painful to see how some of my errors have survived, and THRIVED while I was away! LOL!
Oh well, at least the stories are good, and since we all speak "MyLot-ese" anyway, translations are almost instant! :)

Oh I am already looking at a few of those. I am usually on here when I am half asleep, so there will be sometimes when I say something wrong. Usually I'll wait for the person to respond, and then correct my goof up.

I also do something along these lines as well. When I get into a good book or fan fiction, I tend to say the lines that the characters are saying. Also, when I do try to read out loud to other people, I tend to read the lines with the emotion I think the writer (if it is me or not) intended for that scene.
If a character is beng overly sarcastic, that's the way I'll read it. I do tend to talk to myself as well, but it usually when I am alone. I have a scene in my head and I take on a random character to interact with the others in the imaginary scene.
Only once did I take on an observer with no rool while two of my characters talked to each other. That was too weird and only happened once.

I once attempted to have a Librarian read one of my stories back to me out loud, figuring that this would be a good, cheap way to get some professional feedback...
The problem was that she started laughing so hard at my story, she couldn't stop, and had to excuse herself from the room... Oh, well, I think she liked it, anyway! :)
I feel odd reading my stories back to meself, even though they are mainly narrative... I like hearing them in someone elses voice! :)

I think this is where my musicianship helps me. In the recording process, I must listen to what I have created, and I am not "Stage Shy", either...
Funny, when I was younger, I didn't like the sound of my own voice!
Good Grief! I must be growing up!
I'm finally able to listen to myself! :)

I cannot stand to be in the same room with someone who is a) reading my story to themsevles or b) reading it out loud but nonetheless, it's someone else reading it.
I prefer just to give them the story and leave, it makes me nervouse to watch and wait.

no i don't actually... i don't chatter and talk to myself when i type... but i do that when i am angry with somebody and i will start to say something to myself about that person... usually, i do it in my workplace as some customers can really annoy me so much... i also sing sometimes when i am cooking or taking a bath... but never when i am typing here in mylot... i think it is because i just need concentration here and i can't do that if i am singing or talking at the same time... take care and have a nice day...

Thankfully, I am self-employed...
Back in the days when I had a service job, it was all I could do to keep myself from zapping some of the folks that came into my workplace! :)

I don't like being normal. If I was normal I'd be boring and I hate boring. That's why I do weird stuff all the time.
However, I have to say that sometimes just talking to myself doesn't help. Like if I have a good idea or something, I gotta talk to someone about it.

good day.. I usually chat to myself when I typing and answering very interesting topic. I use to chat so that I could convey my thoughts correctly and compose the sentence completely.

I have not noticed that I do that. I will sing little songs as I do other things. I think it is left over from being a preschool teacher. Now I am mostly cursing the cats.
They think the computer does not deserve so much of my attention, and they are probably right.

If my cat was still living in her Earthly body, she would probably attack the computer and try to kill me, as well... LOL! :)
Her name is "Jackie The Ripper" and there's a reason for that, Gerty! :)

Not so much when I type. Actually, not at all when I type. But just let one of the many electronic devices in my life stop doing their job properly ...
I thought I was finished with the need to "berate" things like computer printers until yesterday when I tried to print a simple one-page letter. Fricking printer would not stop picking up multiple sheets. My friend was laughing at me because I was cursing and telling my printer off!
I also tend to talk to other non-sentient objects. Just not while I'm ... oops. I did talk to my keyboard this morning when I was typing. The "d" key was/is sticking and I vaguely remember addressing it with some unflattering remarks.

I am a contest cook, and I have been known to cuss at things like chickens, olive jars, cocoanuts ect...
But when it come to cussing electronics, I am very careful not to p*ss them off! LOL! :)
My entire ISP went down the other day, and I almost lost it, when I remembered the Mercury was still Retrograde (Drives machines and people nuts)... I just patiently got up and went out, luckily that six car smash-up happened while I was away fro the apartment... LOL! :)
Weird, Huh?
