My precious cat was hit by a car tonight!! Thank God he's still alive and he's at the Emergency Vets over night and some how he didn't break any bones and it appears that he doesn't have any internal injuries but he was hit in the head pretty bad! Hubby and I were on our way down the driveway to go to my parents when we saw him laying by a tree by the road. I called his name and he just glared at me and then he started to run off but his hind legs were dragging behind him! I flew out of my car after him and he kept on running (fast!) but eventually I caught up to him and kept calling his name "Bobo" and he stopped and just screamed!! Blood was coming out of his eyes and nose! I screamed for hubby to take the dogs back to the house and get me from where I was with him and he did and we flew to the vets... the reason he couldn't move his legs is because of the head trama he has, the signals couldn't reach his legs. He has to stay overnight for iv fluids and antibiotics and for observation. This is going to cost us around $500. and $600.!! We had to apply for Care Credit so we could afford his care otherwise we'd be out of luck!! Here I'm taking donations in glass jars from four different stores for help in gas and medical bills for mom and for us to afford to go see and help her and dad and this happens!! Why are these terrible things happening and keep on happening??!! Why?!?!?!?

Darlin, First I must say I am sorry that it seems as if the world is crumbling around you. Have faith it is all in a master plan to have you grow and be strong. You are a care provider for all which can be very challenging. Remember when you feel overwhelmed take time for yourself and evaluate and make a plan that will not have you running crazy. It is said we are not given anything we can not handle. Bobo will be alright, afterall he has you! The love you have will keep him here as long as it is meant to be. You shall survive what is ever thrown your way because you are a caregiver and there are huge plans for you somewhere in your future. Take Care!

I'm trying to be strong grammasnook but gosh how strong does God think I am?? Like mother Teresa said, "I wish he didn't trust me so much" and it's just exactly how I feel. I need to be with my mom to help her after her stroke but now I have to be home to be there for Bobo. Dang! I wish I could tear myself in two!

there really isnt much of an explanation for it other than its life. life runs in cycles.. sometimes the cycle is a downward spiral and things are bad.. and sometimes its on an upward swing and all is good. neither cycle lasts forever. im sorry about what happened to yer kitty.. and i hope he will be just fine after the vet patches em up.

i wish i could give you an answer to the why of it. its the universal UNanswered question, and my most often asked as well. trust me though.. eventually this streak yer on will come to an end. they always do. and good things will begin again. i wish you strength to deal with it until its over so you come out on the other end still standing.

I posted in your other post, but I want you to know I am so very sorry this happened to your cat. I really hope you did a police report and they catch the person responsible. I am glad you saw bobo. Animals are funny when they are hurt, they don't want their owners to find them, so they run off to die. I am glad you saw him and was able to catch up to him to get him some medical care. Please let us know what happens "if they catch the guy" ~Icy~

I seriously doubt the police will do anything about it so I didn't report it. I was more worried about getting him some help at the time anyway. I think the reason he ran away was because of his head trama which made him not reconize me at first but once he realized who I was he stopped and screamed. I saw him tonight and he's doing... alright, I guess. Actually better than I expected but still. He's trying to walk but the signals in his brain aren't making it to his left side and he keeps falling over. I think and hope it's a matter of him retraining his brain once again and then he'll be ok. He was kneeding with one paw as I was petting and talking to him so there is hope. Thanks for your kind words!!

Oh the poor dear!1 No wonder you are wanting to keep him on a leash. We found a kitten once and a few days later he came home with his eye about to op out and 2 holes in his foot. We took him to a vet and he stiched him up a bit. That night he chewed ALL the fur-skin off his leg. We took him to a better facility and they gave him a 'fur' graft. It cost us about $500 as well, we cherished that cat! We went on Vacation and when we got back, our room mate had let him out and he never returned. It was awful for us. He had been gone for days by then, and although we looked, we couldn't find him anywhere. I still miss him 12 years later. You keep him close sweetie.

OMG!! I can't imagine!! I can't even imagine!! I know that room mate would pay dearly for letting him out!! Oh my gosh!! I'm so sorry tammy!! You bet I will keep Bobo close by!! I'm too afraid to let him loose for he seems to like to head for the road. We bought this place because it was furthest from the road and had the most land so to have a place that would be safest for our fur babies and yet he goes for the road. Some day if we're lucky enough, we'll sell this place and get a place much cheaper than this one is and buy something that is really in the country, back in the woods but not a place that so remote that no one else is there because there will be a lot of wildlife and I can't have that. It's hard to explain but I know what I want and I'll find it some day. Other people have found it so, why can't I? lol

Oh my dear friend. That's such a horrible thing to happen. I don't know why these things are happening. It's just the place you are in right now I guess. I think you are just amazing how you handle everything and you are still able to help people and care about themI just wish I could think of something to say to make you feel better and to take away your pain. I certainly don't understand why this is all happening to you. Put yourself and your troubles in his hands, he will take care of you; you are a good person.

I met someone recently who travels around the countryside a lot doing home renovations. He travels with his seriously wicked and unfriendly cat whom he keeps on a long lead so he can wander around (like a dog...lol) while his owner is working. At night, the kitty cat sleeps with his owner in the truck. The cat is happy, his owner doesn't have to worry about him ...it's all good.

Awwwww thank you Ms Tickle!! That's very nice of you to say!! I just do what I have to do when it's needed doing. I'm guessing it's a test for me and boy WHAT A TEST IT IS!! Whew!! Bobo is doing a lot better now. He'll always have some brain damage and won't be able to walk exactly right but he's not falling over anymore but he's not able to go out for long anymore OR without a leash. He'll be alright though with our love and support.

Holy sh*t Cats - what next huh? I will keep Bobo in my thoughts for you. I also hope that the damage to his motor system isn't permanent. What a terrible thing for you on top of everything else! As for why - who can answer that? Life just sucks some times and trouble always seems to come in threes doesn't it? All you can do is keep on keeping on and try not to let it all get the better of you. Easier said than done, I know. I have no advice for you I"m afraid sweets, just my love and prayers and support. Hugs.

I hope he comes out alright but regardless, he's my baby and I'll take him any way he is. Thanks hon for the prayers and support and EVERYTHING!! Big ole hugs to you!!

Be sure to let me know how it turns out. And yes, I would still love my dog (I don't have cats, but you know what I mean) no matter how maimed she became. She's a part of my family and as I woldn't turn away from one of my kids being maimed, I wouldn't turn away from my pet either. So my heart is with you sweets. Hugs.

How awful = poor you and poor Bobo! I do hope that he is recovering well now as you posted this a week ago honey! I know accidents can happen very easily honey and it is heartbreaking for you - especially with everything you have had to deal with lately. I hope Bobo is back home and recovering well now! Hugs xxx

I am glad he has improved! I think it is awful that the person did not even stop to make sure he was ok or let you know what had happened - that would make me so mad! It is all too easy to have an accident but to just run off is awful! Hugs xxx

Yeah, Bobo is doing a lot better now. He'll always have some brain damage and won't be able to walk exactly right but he's not falling over anymore but he's not able to go out for long anymore OR without a leash. He'll be alright though with our love and support. I would've forgiven the person who hit him if they'd stopped and let us know but to drive off and leave him like they did is just not right.

CatsandDogs I am so sorry about your cat and hope he gets better really soon. I know this seems too much on top of everthing else going on in your life right now but bear with it as things are bound to get better for you. I do wish I had some spare money to send you but all I can do is send my prayers to you and your precious cat and hope he getsmuch better soon.I wish I knew why these things keep happening but sometimes life just piles things on us all. better luck and God bless .

I keep thinking the same way, things have to get better and then something else happens. Sometimes I wonder if I'd like for it to happen this way or one at a time throughout the year. I guess it depends on the situations such as this one now. I'd much rather and need to be with my mom to help her out. She's going through such a terrible depression and the pain in her side but I can't right now but will be tomorrow for sure. I'll get Bobo out of the vets and take him with me to her house and be with him there. Thanks Hatley.... You've been a great friend!!

I just can't understand why. I know there's a reason for everything but gosh, I'd like to know what the reason for this is. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone because of everything that's been going on in the last two months. Hubby just called the vet to check up on Bobo and he's still incoherent and unable to walk and they want to keep him another night. I'm not sure what to do for I want to do what's right for him and not for me because that's being selfish. Yeah, I know a lot of folks are pulling for me and for that I'm forever grateful! It's good to know there are still good people out there, including YOU!!

Yes we face them with guts for there's nothing else to face it with. My husband just called the vets to see how he's doing and he's still incoherent and not able to stand so they want to keep him another night. This is going to cost us a fortune.

Hi there hon. You just have to keep the faith. You are being tested if seems like. Just hold your head high and keep on taking the high road. You did what you had to do. I hope your cat is going to be ok and recover from this horrible accident. Whoever ran over him/her should have their butts kicked for doing so and for not stopping. Let us know how he is doing!!

Why am I being tested so much and soooo hard?! I'm not wavering any but dang it, I wonder why! What in the world have I done to deserve this? What has Bobo done to deserve this?? He's my baby and such a sweetheart! I call him my baby boy all the time and he just loves it and purrs all the more. He's probably going to have some brain damage but I don't care as long as I get him back in one piece.

Oh CatsandDogs..how horrible! I can't understand how people can do something like that to any animal and just high tale it away not caring how badly they injured an animal. It really does seem that one thing after another is happening to you, but you're still in my prayers. And of course I'll pray for Bobo's complete healing..poor fella

I don't understand it either pye. They're so sweet and loving creatures acting like the creatures that they are. How can anyone be so deg gone cruel is beyond my understanding. He's my baby boy and I love him to the end of the earth. He'll probably have some brain damage from it but I don't care as long as I get him back. Thank you so much for the prayers!! I can't understand why all these things are happening to me. Makes me wonder what I've done to deserve this. Hell, what has Bobo done to deserve this?!
