I was just reading the news on msnbc and UNFORTUNATELY came across an article about the severe abuse of a 5 yr old boy at the hands of his mother....I am repulsed, shocked, disgusted and quite frankly completely floored once again that a parent could do these things to their own child...
He was covered in cigarette burns, including to his genitals. He couldn't fully open his hand because it had been burned on a stove. His tooth was broken with a nerve exposed. And he had been made to sit in his own urine and feces, authorities say
AND allow others to abuse their child as well..
[i]Brown, 24, turned herself in to police June 13. A woman authorities describe as her live-in girlfriend, 24-year-old Krystal Matthews, was arrested later. Both were charged with one count each of torture, child abuse, corporal injury to a child, dissuading a witness, and two counts each of conspiracy.........
....A third woman, LaTanya Jones, 26, was arrested in the case Tuesday. Authorities said they believe Jones, described as a baby sitter, disfigured the boy's hand by holding it to the stove[/i]

WHY?? why woudl someone do this? HOW coudl someone do this to ANY child let alone their own child! and WHY DID THE AUTHORITIES NOT STEP IN

On the semi bright side (for lack of a better way to word it)..this little boy has AMAZING inner strength!!
Would YOU step in and get involved if this was happening to someone you knew? If you did and nothign was done would you continue to get involved until proper action was taken?

That is HORRIBLE! No horrible doesn't even begin to cover it!
YES I most certainly would do everything in my power - maybe even kidnap the child - to get a child away from that kind of abuse. Depending on the extent - though no amount of abuse is excusable or acceptable.

I a saddened by this .How can anyone do this to a child.Especially his own mother.I am mad that the welfare services didnt step in sooner.Things like this should be stopped.It is wrong for a child to suffer like that.How would his mother like it if someone did that to her?Such sad cases like this.

hi Ravenladyj. I am so sad that such things happen all the time. It is so weird that people can do somethign like that to a child. I work as a baby sitter and I hate even screaming on this little girl. I think it is like this people, who do such things, are not human in reality, but monsters.
I am sure I'll do something if I figure out that a child is abused. I am action person, so I could not just look at someones suffering.

a question ive been attempting to find the answer to for years... there is no rhyme or reason other than people capable of such debauchery are evil.. to the core. i know its a lame reasoning, but its the only thing that can be said to describe such inhumanity. trying to understand those kinds of actions in another.. isnt possble unless you can see it from their point of view.. acknowledge and accept.. UNDERSTAND. i personally dont WANT to understand it, and thus have a part of myself even come close to being as they are in any way. you cannot understand it because that evil isnt within you. be grateful. happy in the person you are, that you dont possess these qualties, hold yer children tight.. and try to leave it.
would i step in? if i witnessed it personally.. theyd cease to breath within that instant.

That is absolutely heart breaking. And it really makes me want to give all my children (even the ones who are misbehaving at the moment) a great big hug!!
I don't know how anyone, let alone a mother, do that to any child. It's disgusting and those people need serious help! Call me sadistic, but I think someone should do the same thing to them, so they know how that poor child feels. It's awful.

I also want to add that I would hope anyone with a brain would step in and do something about this. Otherwise they could consider themselves just as guilty for allowing the child to continue to be abused.

that is really horrible... i can't believe and imagine that a parent can do that to her own flesh and blood... if i witness something like this, i will definitely try to step in and help the child to the best of my ability... no child should experience something terrible like this and i think that the mum with her girl friends who help in abusing the child should be punish accordingly for their cruel act... take care and have a nice day...

To me when a MOTHER abuses her child it is as bad or wore then a pedifile. They have no heart. I just don't understand how a mother could do this. These agencies need to wake up and start sharing information too. My heart breaks every time I read a story about an abused child. If I knew about an abused child I would bug all the agencies that I could. If nothing else take the child to them myself.

How inhuman, how about doing doing the same thing to them, how could such kind of people exist in the world, they should know how to respect human especially children,if they a have on problem on the child, i think its good to solve it in proper way, not abuse the child..

If I knew something like this was going on to a child, I would rip the people apart. I would wind up in jail myself because I would cause them some serious harm. People that abuse children like this do not deserve any kind of sympathy. I hope they all have to spend the rest of their lives in prison for what they did to that poor child. And the family members that "thought" something was going on, WAKE UP PEOPLE. Why didn't they report it? How hard is it to pick up a phone and report that you think a child is being abused? They should be in trouble as well.

Terrifying, but sadly just another case along these lines Raven. Why no one stopped this and why authorities didn't step in... that's because challenging mother children links even the worst of the worst has its drawbacks. Its hard to explain, but I've seen this before too (I believe I had a discussion on todlers and four year olds being forced to fight each other by their mothers... the scrutiny and punishment seemed rather limited, plus it took an unusual amount of time to actually get attention to the case).
I have to agree with your other claim that the child has great inner strength. I've seen other kids in a similar vein. Unfortunately, there is no telling what kind of mental damage has been done here... I shudder to think of the future for this child and others like him.

I don't think there will ever come a day when I will ever understand situations like this. I didn't read the whole article because I can't. All I think of is that poor, helpless child that could NOTHING to defend himself and what could have possibly been going through his head. i can only imagine what that could have been like to endure that as an adult and think of a child going through that rips my heart out. What were those women thinking???? and why???? I hope someone loves that child for the rest of his life in a way that he never thought possible and helps him to heal physically and emotionally. The only reassuring thing is(and this might sound hypocritical) is that those women will get theirs in prison when the others find out why they are there.

That is absolutely disgusting. Sadly I don't think a day can go by when a story like this isn't repored in a major American newspaper. What the heck is wrong with the world? Nah nothing wrong with the world, rather the problem is with some of the people who inhabit it.

OMG! That poor little boy, being hurt so bad by 3 different women!!! He is going to have some SERIOUS trust issue's!! :(
I can not believe someone could do this to a child...I could never! It just amazes me that people like this can have children, and then there are amazing people in the world who can't!
I really hope that poor little boy finds a good family now! I wish I could save all the poor children in these situations!

This is at its worst, wonder how devils also become mothers, without motherly love. My heart goes out to the little 5 year old and all that he may have suffered at the hands of his mother and her friends. If I know of such a thing happening, I will not only bring in the authorities, I would fight till the last for the l ittle guy. If I had the means, I would even adopt such a child and shower so much love on him, he would forget all his bad days, though it is easier said than done. Poor little baby. I wish to God they be meted out the same punishment in the confines of the prison where they will learn what the little one suffered. Besides the burns, the exposed nerve of the tooth must have been soooo painful. Where is the child now and is he any better ?

I hope the "parents" fry for what they've done to that child. That's absolutely atrocious. How are there so many 24-26 year old recently that are doing such horrible things to children?

I would get involved for sure as i dont like bullying and i do not like child abuse. I would not be quiet in the matter if nothing was done about it,i would speak up and tell the world.
