Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.
If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.
Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.
The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti! There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal.He had cancer, and has since died from it.
Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as "cancer noodles".

There is nothing wrong to believe this so we eat Instant Noodles only once a week.

Why will the health departments permitted this if this will cause us cancer? I think not..this products were tested first before they bring it out to the market..if it is harmful to our health they will be advising us not to eat such products anymore..and if this is cancerous how come our neighbor countries who are much fond of eating noodles are still well? Have you heard a news that they had cancer for eating instant noodles none right?

I did a search at Snopes.com and they say this is a false claim. I tend to believe them. Common sense tells us that companies would not put wax in styrofoam packages and then tell us to microwave them. Of course the wax would melt.
Lots of candies and chocolates have wax in them, including those wax bottles and wax lips that we used to have when I was a kid. We chewed and swallowed them on a regular basis.
The Snopes.com site reminds us that wax, like anything else, is pushed through the digestive system and results in a bowel movement.
This has been going around the internet since 2000 and before the internet by regular mail. It's as silly as the old stories that used to tell us that chewing our fingernails or hair would make us end up with balls of those in our stomachs.

I've heard that microwaving
Styrofoam can cause cancer.
I'm not sure if it's true,
but it could be.
Just in case, I never
microwave the stuff anyway.
Thanks for the tip.
I did not know that about
instant noodles.

I think this is not really safe. Instant noodles meaning you can easily serve it without a hard time. It contains preservatives that are not healthy to our body. There's a lot of food now that are ready to eat that are harmful to our diet. Some people are not aware of this because they do not know how this food processed. We have watch every thing we prefer to eat everyday.

we were warned before by our clinical instructors that w should limit ourselves with eating noodles because it's not good for the health. according to the news, noodles contains substances that are harmful to our bodies that might cause cancer and other serious diseases. we can eat noodles, but in moderation. we shouldnt eat it everyday, maybe once or twice a week only. we should eat to live, not to eat just to die.

I suppose it depends on who is talking. Most diets include at least some pasta. Pastas and grains are one of the food groups, yes?

Well so long as we are eating good and hearty foods that include a variety of vegies and fruit we should be fine. I don't think food that is not natural is really good for our health anyway. I think it is great that we just need to keep our eye open on what goes in our mouths and how we frequently we eat the same of a particularly type of food. We need to eat a variety of the good stuff and that way we can prevent many bad things too.

Im not sick and My 8 year old is not sick. The one thing I craved contently when I was pregnant with her is Ramen noodles. I added bananas and fruit sometimes. Sometimes I added Cheese and broccoli and Cauliflower. I had it just about every day mixed with something for 8 whole months.
I don't have cancer and my daughter doesnt have cancer.
Now I don't like noodles that much nor does my husband cause that's all his ex wife would fix. so now we are a meat and potato people. When I'm low on cash and out of food I still fix a pot of noodles and Spam but hey that's at the end of the month and only one day out of 30.

Hiya agihcam
I don't know if instant noodles are cancerous but I DO know from evidence that it is harmful to our digestive system!
Many years ago my uncle eat about 2-3 packets of instant noodles in one sitting and after a while he had a stomach ache. Then his abdomen started to bloat so he went into hospital and had it x-rayed. The doctor pointed to the stomach area of the x-ray and started to laugh.
Inside his stomach were the instant noodles he had eaten which had greatly expanded and swelled up his abdomen.
After, he could laugh about it and he never ever eat more than 1 packet at a time. Off course he has cut down on the mumbers he eats.

Well almost anything that we eat right now is cancerous so I think that it's better to die full than to die hungry right?

Anything instant is not good to our health, that is what I know! So I really do not patronize instant food and that include instant noodles. Thank you for posting that topic, it makes me happy to know I'm making the right choices.

I have heard that also and received an email about that.Since then we only have noodles like once or twice a week,no more than that. You are right, better be safe than sorry.I pity those who can't afford healthy food and resorted to eating and sharing one packet of noodles.
