Okay, dish. What do you prefer to pay with. Credit Card, Debit Card or simple old fashioned cash? Is there a difference in the satisfaction after shopping? Do you switch between card and cash?
I know that I feel so much better if I pay with card instead of cash. Makes me feel all that much more sophisticated. Yeah, I might be shallow. I almost never pay with cash. In fqct I don't really carry much cash around... But I don't see that as a problem.
What about you?

well i do the same thing as you. i try to pay by card as much as possible. though it's not for the same reason. payment by cash or card makes no difference to the price. but if i pay with card i get to earn points or rebates. sometimes certain cards have promotions which entitles me to a 10% - 20% discount. with all these goodies, i really can't think of a reason to use cash instead. cheers :D

guess the competition is really tough here where i live. but the discounts is really good. i end up carrying a lot of cards in my wallet. everytime before i pay i'd actually ask which card does the store has a promotion with. :p

It happens to me as well. It looks more powerful if you buy using a credit card. It's also a convenient way instead of having too much cash on hand. However, I now prefer cash since I don't worry anymore that I would have to pay for it in the future.
Also, most of the simple things here doesn't have credit card capabilities though such as small stores and public transportation. My preference could change though when more commodities would be payable by card.

Yeah. Oh so true. Those small kiosks doesn't usually accept credit cards. Well, we don't know. Maybe in the future even public transportation can be paid through credit card.

Paying by card gives us that conveience and also gives us the security of not having to carry a large amount of cash around.
However ,I prefer to pay by cash whenevrI have it, simply because i dint then have to worry about the paying the credit card bill for this purchase at the end of the month.

Hey this one's a nice question... Well to start off, I don't have a credit card... lol... anyway, i've been meaning to get one but i've been weighing the pros and the cons of having a credit card, and the cons prevailed, so I decided not to get one. My salary is just enough with a little left for savings so that works for me. Of course, when you go shopping it gives you that different kind of feeling when the sales executives just swipes the card, and bingo.... I can just imagine what my bill would be if I have a credit card.... Most probably, I'd go to prison for my debts.... SO I think i'll stick to the good ol' cash...

Hi there calajane,
I never pay with debit nor credit card. I'm not rich enough (its true) But i think using them both, there will be addition payment we have to pay, like administration payment from the crd also reduction from the bank, i think its dangerous to using those card. LOL (opinion from poor people)
happy posting, you!! OoXx`dian

I like using my debit card and am happy that more places are accepting it. For a while my mom never used her debit card and would always carry cash but now she is finally coming around. I do like having a dollar or 2 on me for other things but other then that I don't even carry cash.

I almost always pay for things with a debit/credit card rather than cash. Sometimes if I have the cash, I will pay with cash, but I don't generally have much cash on me to pay with. I do like to give my waiters and waitresses their tips in cash even when I use my card to pay the bill for my dinner.

I got into some real big trouble with cards in my past so once I got cleared of them I know that they can be a dangerous path. Give me cash every time! I do have a card that I use when I need to but the idea of paying someone for the convience of having something right now is just insane to me! There are certain things like airline tickets and hotel rooms that a card is need for but besides that forget it.

I was always in the habit of paying for everything with cash but then when I had cash in my pocket I had to spend it. So now I put all of my money in the bank, except maybe $40, and I pay for everything by debit. I also have a visa and I use it for bigger items, not everyday things. I have thought about using it for everyday things and then just pay off the balance of them, at the end of the month, but then I would not be able to keep track as easily and I think I would overspend knowing I didn't have to pay for all of it at the end of the month.
I still like to have some cash on me, for the little things like a Tim Hortons coffee or something like that. I don't want to be using my debit card for $2 or $3 purchases so I keep a little bit on me. But now that I have been using my debit instead of cash I find that I am spending less and able to save some.

I like to pay using card only because I delay payment. However, the down side to this is that my visa bill is always so high I panic immediately when I see the envelope from the bank. Having a card allows me to buy as much as I want if there's a sale. It also allows me to buy big ticket items which I normally would not buy had I only brought cash. So there. I'll try to limit my expenses next month for sure.

The thing with cards is that it has an interest to it, well in my country and bank there are interest rates. but never the less I always use cards it keeps my pocket small and its handy. :D

i always pay my bills and purchases with cards whenever i can... it is because i want to collect the points and i have up to 55 days to pay back for my spending... so it really works for me... my credit card also free for life... so i never have to pay for annual fees ever... that is even better... but i always make sure that i don't overspend and i have money in my account to pay back when the bills arrived... take care and have a nice day...

I used to use both, but more on cash. I'd use my credit card if I see something I really really like. Now that my bills in my credit cards are quite high, I've learned to leave all of them at home and not use them unless my bill starts lowering down significantly.
However, I think in other countries, it's better to pay in card than cash. Here in my country, cash is always better. no interests piling up.

I do carry my debit card and credit card with me always, but prefer paying in cash alone, and also i dont use credit card for which i have to pay more interest if i dont follow its criteria properly...so i prefer cash to just get out of the tensions with banking stuffs as they seem to take away more of time and also, there were many frauds caught recently who somehow traced out our credit card numbers when we make some traansactions in the shops and get our money transfered to them..just to avoid these unwanted happenings, i use cash mostly

Credit/Debit cards are for the convenience of shopping and not having to bother whether you are carrying the required cash. But cards still have to be paid for, and even though I do a lot of shopping by card, I always have at the back of my mind, the thought that I have to pay for this. In a way itis good. Less cances of overspending.
