Aren't us women the best multitaskers. I find I am becoming more effecient in getting things done at the same time as the years go by. I have to, otherwise nothing would get done if I just did one thing at a time. Here is one example of how i multitasked the other night: While I was feeding the baby, I was also massaging my partner with my feet, watching tv, cooking dinner (well the wok and rice cooker were helping me, lol) and I was washing clothes (with the help of my washing machine). Now no offence to men, but I have not seen a guy multitask much. They often only do one thing at a time and that is a mission, lol. I am only just having a bit of fun, please don't take offence. So I want you all to tell me how talented you are in your multi tasking abilities. The best responses get three shock smileys. Second Prize wins two thumbs up, third gets a happy face.

I am a single mother of 5...that should say it all. Every day life is serious multitasking. My afternoon is usually like this: I'm feeding the baby (1 year old), cooking the meal and making sure there is at least one thing everyone likes, bathing one kid in the kids' bathroom and putting another in the tub in my bathroom (opposite ends of the house). I am running back and forth helping them wash their hair and get clothes for them to put on after. Get them out of the tub, comb their hair, check on the meal, make sure the baby isn't getting into something, answering the phone, writing down appointments or orders for my photography, stopping two of the kids from arguing, playing judge and hearing who did this and who said what, and trying to check my email. Once the meal is finished cooking, here we go again. I get everyone sitting down and fix their plates, chase the baby, grab the baby, still having to answer the phone, parents stop by to see the kids, try to feed myself, clean everyone up after eating. After everyone is finally asleep, I start cleaning the kitchen and mopping the floor. Okay that's not everything...but I'm sure you get the picture

Wow you are amazing, don't know how you do that day in and day out. I find it tough with 3 kids ( see my avatar). You would have to be a serious multi tasker to get things done with 5 kids. Good idea getting kids to have baths at same time. Can any of them have baths together, or are they older? Plus your doing your business at the same time, that is awesome. I am not single, but I basically do everything, cook, clean look after the kids, it is a challenging multitasking day. Get back to you shortly on the results of my little competition, you are in the running.

Can't wait to hear the results! But, I forgot to mention that I am also taking a course in Medical Billing and Coding. It' seems almost impossible to find time to study. None of the kids bathe together. The two oldest want their privacy. The two younger ones...one boy...one girl...so they don't bathe together. Everyday life is hectic. I try to take it one day at a time and pray...ALOT...lol

Hi Kiran I'm not really in this for the smileys etc-but if us women couldn't do most things at one then everything would be in a pretty state of affairs!! Men can't do two things at once like us their minds/brains aren't made that way that's why they can only do/concentrate on onething at a time!! that is a fact-but us women do deserve a medal many times over-hugs littleowl

Hi Littleowl, I just added the smiley part in for fun, lol, it is my teacher side coming out of me. Rewarding people for their great responses. Yes if we didn't multitask, the work places would be a mess, cooking wouldn't be done, washing would be everywhere, etc etc. It would be a total mess and nothing would be complete. We do deserve a medal indeed.

Kiran, I fully agree with you that women are better and effective multi-tasker than men. They, perhaps have some in-built system (by the grace of God) that they turn out to be an effective multi-tasker. My better half is also a multi-tasker and when I do not come upto her expectations, she tell me that we women are better than you guys.........LOL! Hats off to you!

Sorry i wouldn't have started this one, if I saw yours. Hope mine was a bit different, I don't like to copy other peoples discussions. I do admit that I write discussions that come to mind without checking first. I just hope when I write alot of my discussions that they are unique in their own way.

That is the best word to describe women!!! Very nicely said! All women out there will certainly agree! I could imagine myself in you. How I would do so many task at time in order to beat the time that has been running out. Here is how I do mine: Watering the plants and listening to the morning newscast, while waiting for my cooking and my washing in the machine to be done. Another form of multi-task: while watching the TV, folding the washed clothes and tutoring my niece, while waiting for my rice to cook and my water to boil. And before I forget, I back you up, I guess men can't beat that.

Thanks for backing me up, lol, I don't think men have it in them to multitask. I think multitasking with folding the clothes while watching tv is a common thing that most women do. Plus you tutor at the same time, you are clever and talented. Imagine what would happen to the household if we only did one task at a time, it would be total caos and nothing would be done.

Yes, Women ought to be really clever and talented. And I also would like to add one more adjective...creative. Most wives actually have learned to be creative in their desire to fulfill the many chores rested on their shoulders. Sounds really very tiring but God is so gracious enough in giving us enough strength for the day. And the praises and blessings we receive from our husbands and kids for our efforts are our rewards.

Yes, I agree, but the men won't. In the office, we often multi-task as well. A routine day will go like this - talking to a client over the phone, typing a proposal, calculating the best price for the client, switching to another screen to check messages, yet another screen to look for the product information the client requests... If it had been my male colleague, he would have talked to the customer, noted down the request, said that he'd get back to her later, put down the phone, checked for the necessary information, called the client to give her the info and after that, typed the proposal. One task at a time - what we called the DOS system (old computer system that did one thing at a time).

Lol, that does sound like a male employee, to think they have it tough. No wonder us woman are so resilient, we are so used to handling multiple things at once. I think it would be strange to do just one task at a time, it would feel strange don't you think?? I always think if I don't do a million things at once I won't get everything done.

Hello tamara, it's funny how us women always do many things at once. It can become very tiring. I find it hard to relax sometimes. I think some men have it pretty easy, lol. It would be nice to see what their life is like for a day, doing one task at a time.

THe problem is in my situation even when I work full time, I still have to come home look after the kids, cook and clean. They have no idea, how good they have it.

Hi Kiran, Men thinks they do heck of lot because they go out to work, yes its that fine but they have to work 24/7, if you got kids that what you do. They don't understand. love Tamarafireheart.

oh yes... i definitely multi-task as well... i try to save time and do things in the most effective and efficient manners... i can wash clothes, do cooking, having dinner, mylotting and watching TV at the same time... my hubby can never follow what i am doing as i heard that men tend to only focus on one thing when they do something... especially if they are doing something that they like... it got to do with their brain structure... take care and have a nice day...

We definitely deserve some huge medals! I have been juggling between family life and my career for years. Being a work at home mom is not easy. Have you ever tried talking on the phone with a client and cook dinner at the same time? Not to mention having kids squabbling on your kitchen floor!

I totally understand how you feel. I have not talked to a client and cooked dinner and kids. However I have also juggled three kids, career and being a mum and study before. It is quite challenging at times. I don't think I could work from home with kids, I would get nothing done. At the moment I am trying to have year off teaching to look after bubs, have a hard enough time multitasking with three kids and chores and cooking, lol. You deserve a medal that's for sure.

We are great multitaskers. I often fold clothes and watch tv too, to make it more exciting. Folding clothes is such an endless chore and boring. It's funny how your husband said that, he probably doesn't understand how you could do two things at once, it is a strange concept for him, lol.

Hi Jill, good to know you still get alot done while on mylot. That is one thing I don't multitask on, I should try though. Usually when I am on mylot I just do that one thing. That is why I need to stay away from here some days, get nothing done around the house. Get back to you soon with the results, lol.

hi kiran yes we learn early how to multitask. we have to when we raise kids and keep house. I can cook and mylot at the same time, and also wash clothes, and manage not to scorch my dinner or leave my clothes in the washer or dryer for too long a time. I live in an apartment complex and we have four washrooms so one does need to be thoughtful and not leave clothes in the washer after it is done or the dryer. other people will want to use the room too after all. so that is the extent of my multitasking for one time.

Wow, cook and mylot, that is clever multi tasking. I don't think I could do that as my computer is in my room, not near the kitchen at all, if I tried my meal would be burnt, lol. It is good to multitask I think as it saves alot of time on getting things accomplished. I could not handle only doing things one thing at a time, it would feel too strange and like I was wasting valuable time.

talking on the phone, typing on the computer and watching tv. or writing something, watching tv, and eating. or dishwasher, machine washer, watching tv, checking emails, and talking to my cat.

That first one would be hard, talking on the phone whilst typing. I would get a bit confused with that one, trying to talk and type at the same time. Talking to your cat and checking emails, that one is funny lol.
