How can you not know?

The residents at the nursing home tend to watch daytime sensationalist tv, like Maury. There seems to be a plethora of women who don't have any idea who is the father of their children, yes plural. How can you not know who is the father of your baby? There was one girl who went on there and had three possible Daddies come on and be tested. Guess what? None of them were the baby's Daddy! Another girl came on and said she didn't know if her boyfriend or her mother's fiancee were the father of her baby. I just don't understand. Somebody please explain this to me if you can. Am I the only one who thinks this is ludicrous?

I don't think the majority of that is true. Granted I do believe those things happen, but I think those people on those shows are paid actors. Some of it is just too far out there, and why would you be proud enough to share that information with the whole world? Who knows. If it is true, then those people are messed up, and the kids are going to be even more messed up. Such a sad world we live in.

I agree that this is completely insane. But insanity can have an explanation. People make bad choices. They sleep around and don't keep track. They don't care, are drunk, or they are naive enough to think that they will never get pregnant. My fiance's mother doesn't know who his father is and it is simple because she slept around with all the navy men who came to port. I think it is as simple as that.

I have watched the Maury show a bunch of times too and I have seen alot of women on there who do not know who the father of their baby was. They do not know because some of them sleep around with alot of men during the time they have conceived. They have no clue who got them pregnant because they do not know they are pregnant during this time. Some women do not know because a man uses them once and leaves and then the woman moves on to the next man and then she has no clue who's baby it is because she moved to a new relationship quickly.

I just can't believe that they have such little self-respect that they sleep with every man that crosses their path even if it is a man that they shouldn't. Their boyfriend's brother or cousin, their own mother's fiancee or boyfriend.

I totally agree with you. I can't understand why these stupid women (giving us women a bad name) do these stupid things. I don't even watch these stupid shows. But to make it more of a discussion, I once worked a case (actually turned out to be 3 cases) where the state of Texas NAILED this jerk for having 4 kids with 3 women, obviously sleeping with a couple of them while one or another was pregnant with his child.

Its perfectly obvious to me. When I was growing up on the farm my job was feeding the chickens and gathering the eggs. We had 30 or more hens and maybe 10 roosters. The eggs were fertilized and the hens would sneak off and hide their nest eggs in the fense rows. In about 3 weeks they would bring their new chickens out, as proud as could be. It was interesting to note that the young chickens were a mixed bunch. As they grew and feathered out,I noticed they resembled the roosters more than the hens. I soon figured out that the hens and roosters had been playing around in the barnyard. There is nothing ludicrus about this!

Alot of that stuff I think is done to get more people to watch the show. Everyone likes drama and like to watch drama. When people come on shows like that people know that some big fight will happen of some sort. But, thing like that does happen if the female had multapile partner that they sleep around with.

No, you're not the only one that thinks that way. Geez, that's just SO unbelieveable isn't it?! How could you not know unless there were far more potential 'daddies' involved. I don't watch Maury, or stuff like that, but I have seen this kind of thing on other shows. With girls like that being so loose and free with themselves, I would wonder if the girl didn't have aids or an std. They must have really low self-esteem to sleep with so many, and so often. Makes you wonder too if those girls grew up with a good role-model mother in their lives. It's so sad to hear about things like this, and ultimately, it will be the baby that suffers in the long run. Can you imagine growing up with a mother like that?!

I'm waiting with baited breath for the explanation myself. I remember a time when if a woman had even a chance of "not knowing" who fathered her child she'd forever be branded a s1ut and a tramp; now they go on TV to brag about it! I know a lot of these shows are put-ons, or I sure hope they are, but who could even pretend to be that stupid and irresponsible? Nope, you're not the only one who thinks this is somewhere beyond ludicrous. I can't think of a better word, though, but it seems like there should be something stronger, doesn't it? Annie

Synonyms: absurd, antic, awful, bizarre, comic, comical, crazy, farcical, foolish, funny, laughable, nonsensical, ridiculous, ridiculous. funny, risible, silly, zany Synonyms: comic, comical, farcical, funny, laughing, ridiculous, risible Farcical may come close to being a strong enough word. I just thought of one not on this list; imbecilic. How does that one fit?

No, there are at least two of us who think this is ludicrous. I also find it rather strange that the residents at the nursing home watch daytime television. I would like to think they had better things to do with their time, poor souls.

Despite exaggeration and base ridiculousness, there are still cases of women misidentifying the real father (either through honest fault or purposefully). I described the latter in a discussion some months ago, and touched on it in a response to another discussion. The former, is a possibility of choices: having multiple partners at approximately the same time. Sometimes Trace, the woman does really know who the father is, but decides to name another person: an attempt of paternity fraud. This can also happen if the woman does not know the true father she had slept with while naming off another man for the fraud, as a woman need not know who truly impregnated her in the case. This might point out somethings about the subject: http://www.paternityfraud.com/pf_faqs.html

I also watch Maury, although I must stress that I am not in a nursing home LOL! But I know what you mean, I have watched it before where some of the guests have had more than ten partners tested for paternity! Its disgraceful really, I always think "how can they not know who it is?" how can they degrade themselves like this on tv! If it were me, I would rather just raise the baby myself than go on tv and make myself look bad like that!

Exactly! I would rather raise the baby all alone than admit I slept with so many men so close together that there is no way to tell who really is the father.

I get so digusted at that Maury show I hardly ever watch it anymore as I do not belive half of the junk these people say, I think they are prompted to make up a lot of the stuff to be really schocking so people will be more apt to watch that trash. I doubt that a lot of that stuff is even true.you are right it is ludicrous indeed.

I have only watched the show Maury once or twice and decided it wasn't one that I wanted to spend time on. These girls probably don't have their fathers in their live so don't have examples of how they should be treated by a man. They are probably starved for love real love and so they are searching for it and don't really know what they are doing. Sure they may know that sleeping around is wrong. but when your hurting at that age you do almost any thing to ease the hurt.

It is beyond ludicrous! It seems that some people in society tend to live life as one big "Jerry Springer" episode! Can you imagine the confusion on everyone's faces each and every time Father's Day comes around? lol. It defies explanation why people can choose to be so promiscuous yet have no conscience regarding their actions. The sad part is that their children and their children's children grow up to think that this is perfectly normal. It ends up being a constant cycle. It's only a matter of time before we end up with some dumb a@@ on TV who is pregnant and stating that she is not sure if she is the Mother! lol.
