Is it really rude to stare at someone? But what if you just can't resist to stare..due to admiration? Is it rude?

I absolutely hate when people stare! It makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. ESpecially if a person just stares and doesn't say anything to you. Its like "why are you staring, what do you want...please stop!" Of course, if its by a guy who I feel attracted and interested in...well then stare away!

Yes its not only rude to stare but its also uncomfortable..maybe that is why we were taught that it wasn't polite to stare at people. If you are staring out of admiration, try smiling at the person and looking away to ease their discomfort.

Curiosity is human nature. It is rude to stare.

I am not going to declare myself an innocent because just the other day, I was told the way I was looking at someone was inapropriate. Granted, I was just observing a laptop case identical to my own but in all truth, if staring makes a person uncomfortable then yes, it is rude. Staring for some of us is not at all flattering and intimidating. There is nothing wrong with being attracted but for the sake of ettiquette, we should all try to avert our eyes a bit more. I think the rule of thumb that our conscience knows why we stare and can remind us how we would feel if we were stared at instead. If you find it uncomfortable, then maybe you will have to bite back some admiration and be compassionate to how another person feels. Maybe take it easy on the staring and just wander assurably on your own path. There shouldn't be anything wrong with appreciating someone but our society has made staring a violation. So, yes, it is probably rude but your intentions may not be. Try fleeting glaces if you can't control the need to look and try to put the "stare-ese" person's comfort in your mind.

In my opinion, if someone is staring at you, maybe he/she is interest in you. The starer enjoys it, while the staree will felt uncomfortable. You know, eyesight has some pressure. LOL

oh yes... i think it is realy rude to stare at someone... nobody like to be stared at as they will feel that there is something wrong or weird with them... they never know that you admired him/her when you stare at the person... so the initial response will be insulted when you stare at him/her... take care and have a nice day...

A prolonged evident stare is yes rude, but if its admiration and broken up by speaking a word or too, no its just being friendly. But realize there is a fine line between staring rudely and staring in admiration and hard for the person being stared at to know which is which.

Where I live, staring doesn't seem to be rude at all. I find it quite odd though, and always make a big point of giving the starer a big friendly wave and a smile as if I've recognised them!

i think we ahould not stare at annyone whatever the case may be. it makes other people uncomfortable. just imagine if someone's staring at you. how would you feel? similar is with the others. so stop staring and rather tell them that you looking good etc. might be they feel happy rather than staring them.
