We've been hearing quite a lot about the health benefits of green tea over the last few months. Now a new study says it helps keep the arteries of the heart flexible, relaxed and dilated...thus more healthy. They are not ready to say it will keep you from getting a heart attack or stroke, but it sounds good anyway.

I did not see it, but I subscribe to WD and I know all about green tea benefits. I just had my second cup today. Since I am a singer, and they do not recommend tea or coffee before singing practice, I have just started my third cup and that will be my green tea recommendation for the day. Heart conditions are common in my family as well as diabetes(I am of the skipped generation) and I do get high blood pressure when I am nervous, so starting to steep my third cup.
I will have to get more since my husband had a mini stroke. I guess we should drink more than two cups a day, and maybe make it stronger.

I've always been a hot-tea drinker in the wintertime, just don't do it during the summer. And, green tea didn't use to be so popular, so what's in my pantry is probably Lipton. Do you have a favorite brand?

I like the sound of this part:
"the scientists speculate, green tea works on the lining of blood vessels, helping cells there to secrete the substances needed to relax the vessels and allow blood to flow more freely. It's the flavonoids in the tea, which work as antioxidants and help prevent inflammation in body tissue, that keep the vessels pliable. These substances may also protect against the formation of clots, which are the primary cause of heart attacks."
hmmm...I have green tea in my cabinet...

Yes, we are seeing more and more information saying that green tea is healthy. And of course now it is being marketed a lot now. I like green tea but I have not been faithful in how much I drink it. I started it a few years ago during the winter as a hot cup drink in the afternoons cause I did not want to drink coffee except in the mornings. Now all of a sudden it is fashionable as well as healthy. Guess I will have to stock up on more of it.

Hi estherlou! Green tea has been so popular nowadays and I have heard and know a lot of people drinking green tea. I have heard of all its health benefits and I really think it is good. I have been drinking a cup or two of green tea a day and I do enjoy drinking it as well as my husband.
Take care and God bless!

They have been studying the benefits of green tea for about the last 10 years. I have been drinking green tea for about 5 years now and I don't find it tastes any different than regular tea so I drink it because it is supposed to be good for us. I was told it helps to lose weight, but I haven't lost any weight because of it. All the same, I still drink it and I will continue to drink it. I put sugar and cream in mine and I have had people tell me I am ruining the taste by doing that. It is meant to be drank black with no sugar but I just can't drink it that way. I have tried but don't like it. Has to be sweet.

This comes as no surprise to me, estherlou, for green tea is very benefical to everyone who drinks it on a regular basis. I love it myself and always have a gallon pitcher of it in the fridge so that it's easier for all 3 of us to drink it. I make a new batch at least every other day being it's the first thing we hit other than the 3 gallon container of cold water in the fridge.

Yes, I saw the news report. Very encouraging. I am a regular drinker of green tea for the last 15 years or so, not because I knew about the health value of it. I like grean tea , especially the jasmin tea, the taste and the flavor. With the health value, it just gives me added value too.

i have been drinking green tea regularly. Keep it warm. Drinking cold tea on empty stomach may give you stomach problem. My personal experience is that I seldom fall sick nowadays. I used to have to take antibiotics every now and then for flu and rhinities. An average of 3 to 4 courses per annum. I believe I have stayed away from antibiotics for years. Green tea has a lot of good stuff. Antioxident is very important for us. As we grow old, our heart produces less anti oxidents which work against the free radicals in our body. There are alot of write ups about green tea from many websites.
