Do you fit your sign?

I always read my horoscope daily and find it very interesting. But quite often when reading about what should be my traits (I'm a Leo) I find that it just doesn't always fit me. You see I was a premature baby, so I was born a full month early. So does this make me a Leo or a Virgo? I've never known for sure. So usually I read both and can see some of both in me when I read it. How about you, does yours suit your true self?

The generic Sun sign is not always
accurate in describing you as a person.
Check out your Moon sign and you will
feel more compatibility.
As for being premature, you came to this
earth on the day that you were supposed to
be here.
Doctors can be wrong about their dates.
My daughter was "supposed" to be born on
December 24, but waited awhile longer
before they had to take her out by
C-section.
She knew that she needed longer.
So she waited.
Currently, her personality is developing,
so she fits her moon sign of Taurus
more accurately.
Taurus is often deep thinkers, highly
emotional, easily wounded, strong willed
individuals.
That's my daughter in a nutshell.
Her Sun sign is nothing like that.
So, I'm guessing that will manifest
itself in her later life.
Thanks for the interesting topic.
Not often that I get to talk about
astrology, one of my favorite
subjects.
P.S. As for me, I am a Libra and fit
that sign like a glove.
The Libra aspect dominates my moon sign
and the other houses of my sign.
My rising sign is Virgo, which is like
my skin. The Virgo explains my tendency
to be repulsed by messes.
They love neat and orderly environments.

Beauty, this is a question for you....
how does a person find out what their moon sign is?

You certainly are more knowledgeable about it all than I am. It interests me but I don't understand it all. I love the stars, and the moon. I am drawn to the moon more than I ever could be to the sun. I even have multiple pieces of jewelry in both star and moon shapes, and a friend once gave me a certificate where a star had been named after me. :) Thanks for your reply.

LMFAO my daughter is a Taurus and OMG THATS HER...She really is FULL BLOWN Taurus..and on top of that her numbers (in her numerology chart) are mainly Master Numbers which really enhances her Taurus traits...Its just wild how that works..

I've always checked my horoscope, and most of the time it doesn't concern me, and knowing this, I wondered upon something that really blew me away. The Mians, way way back there in the very beginning, actually started a way of keeping time. They also developed the calaender, and began what we all know today as astrology. Actually there are 13 planets, not 12, in the zodiac. And if I were to go by that, according to my birthdate, I am what the original says about me. You can go to http://spaceplace.nasa.gov/en/kids/st6starfinder/st6s and look at the chart to get more information.

Did you mean the Mayans? This seems appropriate, with the so called end-of-time date of 21st December 2012!

What has to be remembered is that these horoscopes are attempting to divide people into twelve groups. These predictions are also just based on the sun-sign. In any person's chart, there are many other influences: rising sign, moon sign, planets... and the patterns they form between themselves. These daily columns are also written in such a way, to make them very broadly applicable. 'this may happen...', 'you tend to do ...., in this ..... situation', 'blah, blah is likely to make you happy/ sad today'. All very vague, intriguing, mysterious... amusement value only! I gave up reading these horoscopes many, many years ago.
The last prediction I read was actually, more to do with humankind as a whole, generally talking about the credit crunch, 2008 being a year of upheaval, that kind of thing.
What can be interesting, it to get a book about the Chinese astrological signs. Currently it is the year of the Rat and is supposed to be full of opportunity for people born under that sign...

Thanks for your input. Yes I frequently see the daily horoscopes as being overly general. :)

I'm an Aries and yes, I fit my sign exactly! Well, except for the bad parts.
Nah, really, I used to fit it to a "T". Life has made some "adjustments" to my personality, and I've toned down quite a bit from the typical Aries nature.
I used to be very impatient (typical of Aries) but since I had my kids, I've learned patience. I used to get upset when things didn't happen EXACTLY when I wanted them to (another Aries trait), but not anymore. I've learned to take things as they come.
My husband is Aquarian. He is very much his sign! We are so perfect together! He is the "thinker" and I am the "doer". It makes a great combination.
My sister was a sweet Pisces. My kids are Cancer (yeah, really crabby!) and Aquarian (almost drove me insane! LOL). They all fit their signs perfectly.
I don't read my horoscope, though. I used to, but the one I read was generalized for every single Aries person in the world! What it said could not possibly be true for every one. I've stopped worrying about the future or being affected by the past. I take each day as it comes and try to make the most of it.

I had a friend who took every word literally. I couldn't convince her that it was just a generalization. She was so superstitious!!

I am a Cancer and used to check my horoscope daily but not nearly as much any more, however, I consider myself to be a true Cancer who fits all the characteristics.
Cancer's tend to wear their hearts on their sleeves and have a hard time letting go, especially of the past. Also very nurturing, which to some may be considered smothering and also very protective.

LOL My ex was a Cancer. Smothering and protective and not letting go of the past. Yup, that sounds like him. Thanks for the reply.

I will gladly give you clarity on this if you are able to forward your birth details, Date of Birth, Time of birth (important) and place of birth. I had the same problem as you. When I was younger I read allot of the astrology stuff and wondered why I didn't fit all the traits of Gemini. This is because I found out I was not actually Gemini, I was Taurus. The astrologer I went to does Sidereal and not Tropical astrology. The difference is a 23 degree shift in where the planets actually are when you are born. I was initially shocked to find this information, but when I had my chart read it all fit into place. I was seriously blown away for what I learned.
Horoscopes - what you read in magazines and newspapers are only interested in the Sun sign. Problem is the Sun sign is often wrong in peoples charts. Those born in the first 23 days of what they think is their existing birth sign are in fact (look in the sky fact) the previous sign. But the Sun Sign is only a small part of your chart. You need to take into account the whole picture of astrology. Then you will learn to understand what you are dealing with.
If you are really interested in the art of astrology you are welcome to read my article on it (I get nothing from this by the way). It may give you some clarity.

Even if you don't have your time of birth I will be able to tell you your correct Sign. Send a message if you prefer.

What is your date of birth Tess, I'll let you know what your real Sun sign is. I have been thinking for awhile to do a post on giving people their correct charts and an interpretation using Sidereal. It is very indepth. A few months ago I wrote to the New York Times asking the astrologer why he doesn't use Sidereal and gives people false information. I didn't receive a reply. I would love people to have the correct information and not go blindly into a belief that has little foundation. People actually hang their lives on horoscopes.

I am not one to check my horoscope daily. Sometimes I might at the end of the day to see if anything did turn out like it said it would and ever so often it is correct. I am a libra and some traits they say for a Libra are true and other's are not me at all. Since you were born under the Leo sign that is what I would think you would be. My youngest was also a premature baby and I never even thought to check the sign that she might have or could have been.

Well yes! I too am a Leo as well.. And the traits are similar to my own character. I can be very fierce, and I have a sweet heart.. But when you upset me, I will put up my claws.. I am everything that I need to be, just don't rub me the wrong way..

I think it makes you a Leo as that was when you were actually born. I am a virgo and I see a lot of myself in my star sign like the following attributes: flexible, practical, organised, logical, and perfectionist, but I am not a virgin so that does not fit with the star sign.
@Ravenladyj (22902)

Well I'm certainly no perfectionist, nor all that organized. So guess I don't have those traits
ah see now this is where you have to be careful..I'm a Virgo and to someone else I'm far from organized or a perfectionist BUT the reality is I very much am...just not in the standard common fashion....for example, my method of organization to others seems chaotic and dysfunctional..but its a very set system TO ME and there is definate order to it..its just that your average joe can't see it....make sense?

Hi TessWhite,
Yes it does. I am a Capricorn and I am born on the 8th. That means I master life with the usual discipline and responsibility you expect from the conservative Capricorn. If you follow numerology you will realise that the 8 is pretty much the same thing. However, my friend was born a week later. She's even more conservative than me. The difference is I have a Leo Ascendent and my moon is in Leo. She has both in Capricorn.
See ya.

Hi tess...I read this astrology book one time that depending on the day you were born depends on what "house" you are in. There's a 1st 2nd and 3rd. 1st being closest to the previous sign and depending on the moon (year) depends on what traits from the previous sign you have. 2nd is full fledge and the third takes some traits from the sign after yours.

I"m a virgo and although some things do fit, some are way off - the organization trait being one of them LOL
However from what I understand many more things need to be taken in consideration when making an horoscope that is not as generalized as the ones we read on the newspaper. Ascendent, the positions of all planets at the time of birth etc, are things that need to enter the equation.
I sometimes read my horoscope but it's not something I rely on.

Well, I dont believe in astrology. If you read your horoscope carefully, but not to see if it fits you, you will see it isnt really focused on something, it is just basic things, not something that can be checked if it works or not at once.
May I suggest something...read the horoscope of another sign, and tell me if it works on you, but make it sincere. You will understand what i mean.

I do not really believe in signs and horoscope predictions which would affect my life directly. I'm a Taurus.
Most of the horoscopes are described so generally that it fit with the characteristics of a lot of people. When I read the horoscope of a Leo or something else, I often find many fittings with my life, although I'm a Taurus. That's why horoscopes always are right for 90%.

That's also my problem, I do not know what my sign is because some book says I'm a Virgo and some I'm Libra. I think it depends what year you are born and what day it is to make a difference in signs. I still don't know if I'm a Virgo or Libra, but Do you know if there is such a thing as dual signs?

I only read horoscopes for fun or if I'm bored sometime, but very rarely. I dont believe in them because they are very broad and meant to fit a large scope of people. I just find it cool. It's a hit or miss thing for me.
