What greeting words do you prefer to use while mylotting?

Hello to you all, my dear friends - In order to let my friends know at what time of the day I am mylotting, I have already started to use Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening, more often than Hello.

9:46 a.m. Thursday, July 10th, 2008 Hello/ Good morning, everyone, You know, we are at different time zones of the global village. So it is really hard to just use Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening, and Good night to each other, unless you know where your mylot friends are located. To avoid this kind of greeting issue, the majority of us mylotters use the commonly-used word, "Hello or Hi". Personally and recently, I have been thinking about the use of the greeting words as my way or style of greeting my friends here by using Good morning, Good afternoon and Good evening. In order to let my friends know at what time of the day I am mylotting, I have already started to use Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening, more often than Hello. By the way, I wonder if it is ok for me to use this way based on my own time zone. Is it acceptable to you, please? I would be very appreciated if I could have your response to this discussion. Thank you in advance. Love from Williamjisir

A Simple hello, or hi is what I start some responses with. But most of the times I do not use any greeting unless needed. For the same reason that you mentioned.. Different time zones have different times and I do not want to get confused about it.. I think a hello would by pass all time zones, no matter which planet we are on.. It's the best way to address someone, or greet anyone... bourne

Good morning, my dear ssh. So nice to see you around today with your dropping by into my discussion. Well, the preparations for the Olympics, I think, are almost well done by our government. I am sure that it will be a success with everything well done, but I don't think that I will go to Beijing to watch any events, as it is too far away from where I am located, in the south. I will be in my hometown with my own family in Ganzhou City. But of course, I will watch those exciting events on TV only, because it is more economical and my family need me to be with them during the summer vacation. By the way, I will leave for my hometown from Hangzhou tomorrow morning or afternoon to catch the 8:00 evening train back home. It will be very tiring on the train as it is always very crowded and hard to move around when there is a large crowd standing on the corridor of the train. Thanks for your greetings and have a good morning to begin with, my dear good friend ssh.

Hello! I always use Hello as my greeting word when responding to discussions. I don't mind if you use Good Morning nor GOod Evening, because I'll know that it is in YOUR timezone. However, I'll keep using the Hello, because it is easier to understand. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

You can greet me anyway you want, I am not picky. I would not know about the others but if they want to be greeted in a certain way then you might have a problem there and they might not want to participate in your discussion. Hmmmm. Big problem.

I usually add "have a great day/evening" as I do not always know what time of day it is when the member reads what I type. Makes it easier this way. I am myLotting all day and night a lot so using the daily greetings seems silly to me. But I use the above a lot of times. Have a great day/evening friend. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi dear jisir, normally I would like to start with the word “Hi” but sometimes I just start straight away and never use any greeting word at all. I feel like it’s a bit bored every time using the same greeting word over and over again when doing mylotting though it's a matter of courtesy. I rarely using greeting words with respect to time, as the time zones here for all of us here are mostly different. For me it’s quite difficult to know the respective time zones of others here, so I would better avoid using them I think generally time doesn’t have much significance here. Anyway it’s depends on individual’s liking and habit. So it's quite alright for you to use the time greeting words when mylotting as long as you feel happy with them. posting and have a great day.

Good question my friend. I haven't been posting for awhile because I love summer and would prefer to be outside than sitting at my computer other than for my livelihood. However, I have had a little more spare time and have popped in to visit friends sites to say "Hi" before posting new discussions on my site. When I do that all I seem to have time for is to respond to every response there...and sometimes it is more fun to drop by and chat on friends sites. So, that is my long winded segue into commenting on your greeting discussion. I find whatever way you greet people within the Mylot community acceptable. You are always friendly, interested and honoring...so whether you say good morning, afternoon or evening works for me. Sometimes I just say..."Greetings from Raia...or a friend or just plain greetings as a way of touching in. Whatever works! Good to be chatting with you again...take good care. Raia

Thank you so much, my dear perspective friend. I am so glad to know that you are having some rain for the plants that need it. These days, we have sometimes rain, and sometimes not. But I prefer rain in the hot summer as it cools the weather. Enjoy your summer with David, dear friend.

Hello or Good afternoon, my dear perspective friend. I am so happy to hear from you that you are spending your summer time more outside than next to the computer, which is good to your health. Right now I am having my summer vacation, but I spend less time at my computer because I am enjoying more time for doing some household chores, like going to the grocery market for buying vegetables and other food every morning after ten, as the market is close to where my house in the hometown is located. I am enjoying my summer vacation though it is very hot most of the days unless it rains and the typhoon comes to us. I am happy to know that whatever greeting I use is welcome by you. I hope that you enjoy your summer together with David, your hubby, if I am not mistaken. hehe. Have a cool summer, my dear friend.

Hello again friend, It is good to have some updates on what is happening with you this summer. Yes, being able to be outdoors and enjoying our garden is a blessing. The weather has been good. Today it is raining and we needed it. The plants were needed a good downpour...and we are getting it! I also hope you continue to enjoy your holidays and that you find a measure of relief from the heat. Yes, David and I are both doing well and I am glad to know you are as well. Raia

Hi there. I have never written that before, to be honest. I usually just type my response without saying a hello or good morning or anything. But it is a nice thought I think I may have to start doing it. It is now 8:24 am on Thursday, July 10th, where I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am just posting a little before I have to get ready for work. Today I don't start work till 10 am and I only have three houses to cleam today, so it is a short day. My daughter and I clean houses for a living and today it will only take us about 3 hours and we each make $130 today. We have two $80 houses and one $100 house to clean. See yah later, my friend.

Well, if this is the way you would like to start your posts, that is up to you. At the time of my responding back to this discussion, it is 09/05/08. The time here is 09:43 p.m. PST. in the USA. For me, it depends on what type of discussion I am starting or posting back too, on what type of greeting I might choose to use each time. It also depends on the amount of time I have to be active in here posting, and also the mood I am in at the time as well.

I have been thinking about it too. So therefore, I usually use those non time sensitive greetings, eg like hello, hi and etc. But I think time zone is not the only problem, because people in same time zone won't meet at same time too. Take for example, A login at morning to greet B good morning. But B only login at night to read the message. Therefore, I think it's the time of login that matters. In a nutshell, I think 'good day' is the appropriate greetings

hi william! as you may have noticed, i always use "hi" as my greetings here in myLot. sometimes i use "hey" but i really prefer "hi" over it. just like what you said, we have time differences here and we don't really know what time of day mylotters would read our response or discussion. and i think, here in myLot there's no sense of day and night. there's really no indication of time on when did we post a response or a discussion. there's only days, weeks and months. so i don't use good morning, good afternoon or good evening. i just stick with a general greeting which is "hi".
