I truly think that you should move out around 21-24 years of age.

Time has changed and now people like to be on their own once they are married.

I definitely think by 25 or so you should be able to be out on your own. My sister is 25 and is still living at home with my dad and I find it ironic cause she used to always make fun of my step brother cause he was like 27 and still living at home. I'm 22 right now and I'm hoping to move out when I'm 21. I won't be able to afford living on my own until then, considering I'm paying on a car and I'll be going to college in March.

Well, if you are 22 now, and still living at home, your not going to make it out by the time you are 21....Just to let you know...

I think people have to stay home a lot longer because it is so expensive to live on your own. It is hard to find good paying jobs. Otherwise you have to live with friends and share the rent. I don't see anything wrong with it. God Bless

I think it all depends on the situation. I know some 20 year olds who live with their parents who shouldn't. But I know some 26 year olds who have a perfectly legitimate reason to live there.

How old are you? I think 18-19 is a pretty good age to move out. My mom wants me to stay but I plan on moving ASAP I am currently 17. I want to be independent and on my own for good. Have you seen that movie Failure to Launch it is pretty funny.

18 is a pretty young age, but I've heard of a lot of people that done it and moved back with their parents cause it was too expensive to live on their own.

In India you are not requiered to leave your parents ever. They live with us and after certain age we take care of them as they had done for us for years. We find it horrifying to desert parents in old age when their emotional need is too great.

I am 24 and still live with my parents. However, I did live in the dorms at college for 4 years and in an apartment the next year for 9 months so I haven't been at my parents' house my whole life. I hope to move out next year.

You're too old when you have a job that allows you to support yourself, or 22, whichever comes first. After you're 22 and you tell people that you live with your parents, suddenly your suitors will go running to people with their own places. Get a roommate if you don't want to live alone, but you can't experience life and independence without independence.

I really don't think suitors will run away from you if you said you live with your parent LOL!

i dont think there is an age.. i mean i do know that ur parent's house is ur house.. and as long as u r not married.. i dont htink that its obligatory for u to move out of the house.. i mean ur life and their life is seperate maybe after while. but evantually the house is for a person to go sleep rest.. then continue the life.. thats about it.. nothing much.. im 18 years old.. and when i applied to uni outside the city and needs around 1 hour or abit moer to reach .. my parents(apart from war) refused me to go there after i was accepted.. cuz they were afraid of me saying its way too long for the road and might need a dorm or something and they were gona say no for sure so.. they just said apply to uni inside the city.. so i did, and was accepteed..

Thanks for the post. I also believe there is an appropriate age you have to move out. I'm asian and alot of asians live with their parents until they're married.

Hey, I'm new around here. Right now my kids are still young, 6, 7, 7 and 9 and frankly I'd like them to stay with me forever! I'm sure that will change when they hit the wonderful teenage years though!
