When you are sleepy, what would you do to make yourself awake? I am feeling very sleepy now but I still need to study for my exam this coming Friday. I feel like this is torturing. I cannot make myself awake,my eyes keep on dropping. I am thinking to get a cup of coffee but I scare the caffeine will give me a sleepless night when I want to sleep later. Sigh. It's very difficult to concentrate in a sleepy mode now. What should I do to keep myself awake? Or should I sleep first and study tomorrow? Did you have this experience before? What would you normally do to keep yourself awake? Please help me,thanks.

Hi yenwie84.I know that feeling all too well.I'm a student myself and i've been through the same thing atleast a million times so far.I grab a cup of coffee. You need not worry that it will keep you up the whole night because it won't.Trust me,with all the studying and anxiety you'll be tired enough to sleep.About whether you should sleep first and study the next day-it all depends on how much you have left.I usually finish studying a week before my exams so i only revise the night before. If you feel like you're not a night person, sleep early and get up early and study. If you're a night person who cant get up earlier either i suggest you just have no choice but to finish sleeping.Don't sit in one place the whole time.Get up,walk around, wash your face with cold water as many times as is required and you'll manage. These things are the things i do when i've to stay up late to study.I'll be glad if they help you in any way.Take care and good luck for your exams!

well i would do that only when i have to do my studies on regular base like for a contonous period of time mostly in my days of examination i would drink loads of black coffee for that particular time it is helpful but there is also a natural way of keeping you awakae just right one hour before you want to awake eat two to three apples and the natural ingredient in them willl help you awake in whole night try it and then tell

It's good to study right before you sleep. as time goes byyou start forgetting information, when you are sleeping this doesnt happen. Also the information is processed better by the brain cuz it kinda plays with the informatio when u sleep. To wake myself up, I drink something with caffeine like coffee, soda, energy drink; I eat something, esp. things with a lot of sugar or carbohydrates; or I excercise. Sometimes you just get bored, so that's why you feel tired. If you take a break from studying for a while you may gain back some energy so you can go back and study. If you get just so exhausted that u feel like u cant think at all, just go to sleep and study in the morning. If the test is the following morning, you definitely should sleep. You arent going to test well if you havent had a good night's rest.

Sometimes a power nap of 15 or 20 minutes can make you refreshed. Even just laying flat on the floor for a few minutes can give you energy. Coffee or tea has a lot of caffeine and can keep you awake for a while, but tends to make you crash if you combine sugar with those drinks. Another good alternative is Diet Mountain Dew. Good luck with staying awake!!

When this happens to me despite the effort I put in to try and keep awake, I give in. I take a power nap to refresh myself. No use trying to fight it if nothing enters my head anyway. Sometimes, walking or having upbeat music helps me stay awake too. Sorry, coke and coffee does not work for me..never did.

Usually i will sleep first, let my body rest before i start on to study. If not,its like forcing yourself to open your sleepy eyes and its hard for you to take in what you are studying. If urgently need to study at the last minute,i'll have a nap about 15-30 mins, drink some fresh juice, chew some chewy sweets later to make you awake while studying. The caffeine in coffee may helps too but dont take too much until you end up having sleepless nights later! =)

Coffee no use for me, to make myself awake, I will go to toilet to refresh myself.
This is a healthy and good method.

If I am very sleepy and I must not go to sleep since I am in my work, I will just wash my eyes so that my eyes will not feel anymore sleepy.. Sometimes, I will play online games so that I won't get to sleep and at the same time I am entertaining myself.. Like now, I feel sleepy, but I was trying to control myself not to sleep by responding and creating discussion here in mylot.. But sometimes, I can't control no to sleep.. I will just close my eyes for about 2 minutes so that my mood will change..
When I was still a student, I'll make sure that before I'll study I have a good sleep so that I won't feel sleepy and most of all I am not becoming lazy to study because when I feel sleepy, I am lazy to read my notes because all in my mind is going to sleep.. So, I usually sleep first then after that I will study my lesson.. This will help me to overcome being sleepy..

Some times I will close my eyes for 10 minutes. If that doesnt help I will take a really fast cool shower and have a cup of coffee. That usually always helps. Also step outside for a couple of minutes and get some fresh air. Hope this helps.

I think you should just go to sleep and study tomorrow. When your mind is tired, it does not function well. Just set your alarm clock so that you can wake up very early to study. I don't usually force myself to work when I am sleep. I don't think that it is productive to force yourself to work even if your eyes are ready to close. Forget about drinking coffee especially at night. It will probably keep you awake until dawn and that is not a good idea.

good day.. Coffee would just fine for me. The aroma alone can help me up my senses for a couple of hours or so. I've been where your coming from, My advice don't fight it. Sleep a little about two hours just to satisfy your body and wake up, make some coffee and study. hope this help.

there don't need any tips to keep you awake. You just need to take a good rest then will gain full energy the next day to continue your study. With full energy, you can study faster than keeping yourself awake by just opening your eyes while your mind isn't working.
