I had 2 things happen today that just really ticked me off and made me realize that people are getting ruder every day!! 1. I was going down the high way and had someone pull out in front of me and then flip me off when I honked at them 2. I was shopping in a consignment store and when I was ready to check out , my purse fell off of the counter and spilled every where- well the cashier was just standing there and had her arms crossed and acting like it was just taking all of her time for me to pick my stuff up and then never asked me if everything was ok or anything. Did not even count my change out to me or anything just laid the money on the counter and turned her back to me to do some more pricing. She is like this everytime I go in the store and not just to me. I really am hating going anywhere anymore. I am thinking of doing all of my shopping online.

sweetpeasmom hi I think so too, and its so common in stores these days.Because I am handicapped I do most of my grocery shopping on line at albertsons as they deliver, and the ten dollar delivery fee is worth it for me as I have a bad left arm and its hard for me to carry heavy sacks. I had a clerk in mydiabetic nurse practioner's office look uo an appointment date for me and keep right on talking to her co-worker and neverspoke to me at all. thats really rude. finally she gave me the slip with the appt time on it, and still never said one word, and kept on talking to her coworker.

Yes sweetpeasmom I could't agree with you more on this topic and it is sad that people are like this these days.Noone seems to care anymore I have simply learned just to shrug off these kinds of hings and not let it get the best of me. I hope you have a better experience in any other place you might go or like you said start shopping on line I know I would for that matter. I do hope you get ebtter service else where and can get a 1/2 way decent person to service you next time good luck and take care.

I do a lot of online shopping for the same reason! You are right...people an be so rude! I can not believe that cashier treated you like that. As if you planned at the very minute to have your purse drop...just to irritate her. Right?! What is wrong with people today.

It's quite common that we encounter with some rude people around us,just don't let them bother you. I think there are polite cashiers out there, just that you happened to meet with a rude one. Just take it easy and have fun going out. Have a nice day.

I know what you mean. I met a large truck on the road where I live and I moved over as far as I could because he was taking up most of the road. He had room to get over also, but didn't. I had to stop because I wasn't running in the ditch because he hogged the road. He looked at me like I had no business being there. WTH! I live on this road!

Yeah people are getting more rude everyday. The other day I had some guy honking at me at the stoplight, then he ended up following me down the highway, and I guess I wasn't driving fast enough for him, there is a speed limit there, so he passed me, and when he did, rocks flew all over my car. I couldn't believe it, I was hoping there would of been a highway patrol up ahead somewhere that would stop him for speeding. I wrote a discussion about it...I encounter rude salespeople in the stores all the time too. It just seems like everybody's always in a hurry and impatient these days, we all need to stop and slowdown. I do alot of online shopping too..lol.

Sounds like you had a bad day. It happens. If you let little things bug you so much then you'll soon find yourself hiding from the world. Just remember, not everyone is like that. As for the store clerk, I'm such a smart@ss I probably would of said something like "don't worry, I'm ok." Or "I'm so terribly rude to have shopped here and taken your time away from your other work." Some months ago I went to Walgreens to get some reprints made. They have a computer there where you can do it yourself, but I was in too much of a hurry so asked the clerk for help with it. The manager came up and said to me "you can do this yourself." I smiled and said yes, and your clerk can also do it - thats what you pay her for. He rolled his eyes and started to walk away. I promptly said wait - is my shopping here a problem for you? If it is I'll gladly go to WalMart from now on. LOL He and the clerk were both fumbling over their apologies. But I bet after I left they had a few choice names for me.

hey sweetpeas,i think you need to loosen up a little and accept people as they are and not what you want them to be,people need corrections and we should give it and not all will accept it,people make there choice and not every one will be pleased or see it right so live your life to the climax because those people are doing what makes them comfortable while you lock yourself away from the world, life is short so do not let anything or anyone stop you from enjoying it.

very right dear, even i think the same. YOU NEED TO BE REALLY HEARTLESS IN THIS WORLD TO BE HAPPY. i really think this is not the right way the people all over the world are shaping up. something needs to be changed. it is what you give is what you get, so they should realize the same.

There's no doubt that this world is getting worse by the second. One of the biggest problems is that nobody (and I use this generically so as NOT to piss everyone off) cares about anyone but themselves these days. Few take the time to make another human being smile any more, or to hold a door open as a courtesy. Personally, I don't stand for it. If someone does something rude, I let them, and everyone else close enough to hear, ALL about it. It's actually funny to see the looks on a person's face when you embarass them in front of other strangers because they were being a jerk. In fact, I think my wife could do a seminar on it! Seeing HER in action is entertainment that you just can't buy!

I am not currently in the States but I remeber well how rude people could be when I was there. There were many occasions that I felt I should be apologizing for inconveniencing the clerk at any store. We are now in Germany and I love it here because people are not critical like people from the states or overly rude when you are trying to shop. When it is time for us to move back I will not be looking forward to things like that happening again. Someone either forgot to teach some manners or just wasn't listening.

Hi Sweetpeasmom, I am new here at mylot. Just signed up today as a matter of fact. I know what you mean though about people getting ruder and ruder all the time. I think it is because of the situation our country is in that has made more and more people become rude, obnoxious, and evil. All for me and none for you. That is the mentality of a lot of people nowadays. Don't get me wrong though, there are still the nice ones who take the time to try and help when they can, and aren't afraid of extending a helping hand. I have people pull out in front of me all the time, oh, and i better not even try to drive in the city, they try to run you over, and heaven forbid you use your blinker and change lanes, ha ha. They cuss you, flip you off, almost side swipe your vehicle. I know the feeling, believe me. Sometimes i feel as though i am taking my life in my own hands to step out of my house. My suggestion though would be to wait until the late morning or afternoon to go out and do your shopping, not as much traffic on the roads then.Maybe you won't run into as many rude people then.

I am finding not only adults are getting rude, but children are getting more rude and more disrespecting everything and everyone these days. I totally agree with you and where you're coming from

Everyone has "those" days. I remember being a cashier back in the day and by the time I was fired (yes, fired from a grocery store) I literally hated all of mankind. So your cashier might have been dealing with crappy customers all day... As far as the road rage incident goes, there are plenty of morons on the roadways today. Some drive too slow, some waaay to fast, some like they're blind, some weave in and out of lanes, etc. It's just a part of life. And the fact that he flipped you off signifies that he has anger problems. I do shop online more, basically from a convenience aspect, and enjoy it, but don't let this discourage you from shopping in public again. Like I said, we all have bad public days.

Well right now shopping online is not a good option for us here. As there are many in here but they are priced at a much higher cost than when you go to a mall or grocery. I think there are many ways you can do to discipline those erring employees. You could always file a complaint to the store manager. Well good luck to you in your online shopping.

yes I agree. people are getting rude everyday and that's right!! in the grocery store, in the malls and everywhere. Of course there are polite also but seldom you can meet them. Most are demanding and no help. Speaking of drivers who pulled out in front of other vehicles? there are more than that in my country. So, I would say, anywhere in the world people are getting rude every day.

We are seeing more of these nowadays - whatever happens to common courtesy? We queue up everyday at the toll booths (it's a terrible traffic mess), and wait and , when these cars would stop next to you, and try to squeeze you to the side, so that they can move in front of you! At shopping malls, we sometimes have questions about some products, and the sales person is so busy talking away to her/his colleague, and pretends that you are invisible! You're right - if I can do everything online - work, shop....I'd stay home !
