I have to say that I grew up listening to AM stations because my nanny back then would listen to the daily dramas the station would broadcast. Then came teenage phase where I dreaded listening to AM stations and I shifted to FM.
From then on, I got addicted to it and even listen and play with the station's games. But I do listen to AM specially when there is this needed news that I have to hear first from these stations. Usually, AM stations do deliver news fast compared to TV news.
Either of the two is really fine for me.

I always listen to AM stations I prefer to listen to the talk show on the radio. I'm not much into music. Occasionally I'll listen to a station that plays the golden oldies. I don't care for mush of the modern music. Most times I can't understand the words and The beat bothers me. I just hear noise when I listen to it with my grandkids.

Almost all of the music and some talk radio stations here are fm. It is getting harder and harder to find am stations.

I listen to FM station, but I missed Thailand so I went out and downloaded a Thai Radio Toolbar packed with of course, Thai radio stations. I got it from http://www.thairadiotoolbar.com and the one I listen to most is a country station called 95FM Luktung Mahanakohn.

When I was younger, I hated am stations. I felt so old listening to it with my dad. Now that I'm working, have my own family, I look forward to listening to am stations from time to time. I do not get to read the newspaper anymore, nor watch tv so this is my source of information. Of course, I still prefer fm station over am stations anytime.
