I have never experienced hunger..my mom tells me eat as much as you are feeling hungry...but the point is eating is like a cycle and routine and so i actually never got the opportunity of feeling what hunger is...so today i am fasting since morning and it is 3:00 pm and i am still not feeling hungry..but you know i am having a craving to eat something spicy more than the stomach the tongue wants something tasty..Have you ever felt really hungry or do you eat time to time as a routine? do you keep snacking in between ?.. like i keep having some cookies and maybe a fruit..can anyone define what is hunger by experience?

Hi friend, it's nice to know you never have felt hunger. It's not really a great feelings actually. You'll know 'bout it while you'll experience this.
I experienced it many times before. It is not important to say about all of them. But I won't forget a day ever. I exeperienced hunger to that extreme that day. I was young then. For some reason, I was all alone in my home. My mom stored some food for me and left. But at lunch time, I spilt them all by mistake. So I had to remain hungry for all day long. At night, when my mom returned, I really cried that day. Whew! That really was an experience!

I experienced hunger, I felt as if there was a hole in my stomach and I was very weak. I was not feeling up to eating at the time, it was not a fast or anything. I was just sick and when I was on a diet, I almost felt that way, so I promised that I would not get that long without eating.

hi dear very well written how could you think i will not like what you write..it is in true the in depth meaning of hunger that you talk about and i also feel sorry for that..my husband is an Oriya and in Orissa there is a place called kaliHandi where people actually die of famine and drought sad that govt does not do anything..local also refuse to move out...yes what i meant here was actually my mom keeps telling me eat only when you feel hungry and don't just keep binging it will lead to weight problem and so i just realized that i have never experienced what hunger actually was becoz i have been blessed to always have enough food and time....thank you for your wise words..God Bless

Hi Dear
i wriiten sorry as i know what i written is bit harsh and not easy to engulf. and we are not used to listen to such thing. people think skipping one or two meal is hunger, Ridiculous, See we cant think beyound that, u know why as we are not in their Shoes.
u can imagine the position of area where there is feminine, drought , flood, earth quake, war going on, people cant get that. and current food and water crises, trust me if not resolved it can lead to civil war in many contries.
As far as ur content of mails are concern, sure u should give some rest to ur mouth and stomach so it can deal with the food already inside it and properly process it and make it beneficial for u
Take care

I am very thankful that I have never experienced true hunger . I have on a Holy day fasted and when I have been on a diet , but never like some people out there have who have a hard life . I have a friend from Ghana Africa and most days he starves and so do the people around him . That is what I look at as true hunger.

yes i have experienced hunger several times in my life. i usually eat whenever i am feeling hungry. however there are occasions that i just don't have the opportunity to eat. sometimes it's the lack of time, other times it's because there is no food. no food as in nothing i have interest me but i'm too lazy to go out and buy or cook. i try to time my meals so that i will eat around the same time everyday. it's better for my gastric this way.
the hunger experience starts with a rumbling in my stomach. if i don't get food, it will turn into a slight tugging sensation. the tugging will become stronger as i delay food. it will eventually turn into pain when i ignore my hunger for more than four hours. i hope you will never have to realise how it feels exactly. cheers ;p

Dear friend,
I have tasted hunger few times, while travelling in bus for long routes or while attending any meeting, office or ceremonies I do felt hunger and option for having food is not permitted at that time, may be after that I would like have a nice meal and there are times I used to take fasting for one day, during that time also I had felt hunger and I may be allowed to have cups of water only. I do know if an extreme stage of hunger comes it is heard that a man may eat another man.

nupats hi I have felt hunger ocassinally but as i am a diabetic
I do not dare let that hunger get too big or i will go very low and pass out, so I eat four or five times a day so I will never feel very hungry and just enougy food to keep my blood sugar'k
level where it belongs, not too high or too low a matter of
balance. hunger feels like a gnawing in your stomach that only food will satisfy.

i have before experienced hunger but not the sort of hunger and starvation that you hear about in third world countries thank goodness, the hunger i have experienced is that where i have simply forgotten to eat and then my stomach tells me i am hungry. i dont suppose that is true hunger tho

I don't think a majority of us have ever experienced true hunger. I tell my kids all the time when they are bugging about dinner "is it ready yet?" they have no idea what really being hungry is. Just ask people who are starving in the poorest of countries.

Hi nupats, I was thinking recently how long it had been since I had that rumbling feeling that one gets from an empty stomach. It goes to show how your life changes as you get older and you don't go through these hungry phases that you used to have at school or at university. I also thought that many of us in our adult lives go through a lot more stress and that we do more comfort eating to deal with it. So I have tried to reduce my comfort eating and I think I feel better for it. Furthermore , the old rumblings are back :-)

It is very normal that every one felt Hunger especially when we do not have enough money to spend for a good kind of food but I thank God that my family did not experience such Hunger the same other people does and we are still lucky that we could eat 3 times in a day and can share someone for others if it is about food but now that I am here in Kuwait and if it is during Ramadan time we used to felt Hunger for a month just to let others felt the food during this special time for prayer......

If I get really interested in something, like a book or using the computer, then I can neglect my stomach and start to feel hungry.
I tend to eat every couple of hours, mostly just something light in between meals, as I get cranky if I don't.
Most days, I miss out on breakfast, as I am not a morning person and need at least 30 mins of sunlight before I get going in the mornings, but I have morning tea and lunch and then afternoon tea and dinner and then usually a late night snack as well. Oh, and of course, being pregnant, I also eat when I want to, though I have to hide away from the rest of the family or my kids turn into seagulls!

I felt hunger many many times.I don knw how to express that feeling .Its something like a irritation in our stomach. The production of HCl is its scientific reason.
To feel hungry we shuld taste the food while eating. This will increase the tendency to eat and body will produce HCl.It will result in Hnger.
