Ok hands up those of you who talk to your computer?
Hands up those of you who shout, scream and throw obscenities at your computer?
and finally hands up those who are surgically attached to their computer and treat their computer like their best friend and wouldn't be parted with it for all the money in the world?
Thank you!
Is your computer human? I sometimes wonder, I sometimes wonder when it knows you've had a bad day, it decides to play up, go mega slow, crash or decide to have a mind of its own
Do you get angry with it? Because it is not doing what you want it to do?
Do you abuse your computer?
Have you ever broke or smashed your computer through pulling the plug, throwing stuff at it or worst throwing it on the floor in anger and disgust?
Do you have a love hate relationship with your computer?
Ok this is Wolfie the psychiatrist lie back on my couch and tell me about your relationship with your computer!
Ok For computers out there who have had enough of abuse from their owners there is help believe me!!!!!
Somewhere out there there is a hostel for computers that have been bashed, treated badly, abused and completely abandoned...

I have to admit to having a very strong bond with my computer which is my laptop, and goes with me to all sorts of places. I take it to work, and often switch it on on my lunchbreak, I take it away if in this country, and at home I tend to carry it around the rooms with me. I have alot of music on it too, so when I am not directly surfing, or doing work on it, it is usually on playing my random playlists for me.
Up till now I don't think I do talk to it, but this isn't to say I don't as I might just not realise I am doing it. ;)
Actually come to think of it I think I do talk to it, when the battery light flashes up and I have to rush off to get my charger and I find myself saying 'don't die, don't die please'.. Hmmm, maybe time for some help for me? ;)
I try not to get angry with it, as I used to do that with the desktop, and it seemed to respond by whatever problem I was annoyed with getting worse, so I don't tempt fate anyore.
No hostel gfor my pc, as I love it, and wouldn't part with it for anything. :)

To be honest I could never get on with laptops, I tried one once, the lack of a mouse being small and a number of reasons I said NO never again. So laptops are out for me, I think I'd lose patience with it. Least you are quick to rescuscitate yours when it's about to die. Giving it electricity is like giving it the kiss of life! Your bond is very strong!

Yes we are close! ;)
I also get driven mad by the lack of mouse and having to use a mouse pad, but I also have a mouse I plug in. I have to use it when the laptop is charging as for some reason the mouse pad doesn't always work while charging up, so the mouse goes everywhere too :)

You are much calmer than me sweets! I once smashed my gaming computer up into smithereens. But that was years and years ago, I had a few minutes satisfaction then the realism sank in like a knife LOL! I have selective patience with some things I have the patience of Job, with others my patience is the size of a pinhead! xxx Hugs returned double and to Gissi too naturally ;o) xxxx

Both, when my computer wants to do what I tell it to do, it will, if it does not want to do what I tell it to do, then it will not.

If I say the wrong thing the machine might start acting funny. It's a little of both, it has it good days and then it has it bad day. I'm not one that screams or flips out on the machine for not acting right. I try to find out what the problem with it is. Then if I can fix it I do. If I can't then I just do a system recovery. Sometimes I think that it has a mind of it own though. There are days when it just acts funny period and I have to deal with it. I don't talk to it or anything like that I just try to be patient with it all together. That is the most that I can do. As long as it doesn't start talking back to me and the keys start working on there own. I think that we will get along fine.

My computer is just a machine. One I can do with or without quite easily really. I did without one a couple years back for 6 months when mine crashed. No biggie. As for screaming at it? I haven't done that since I ditched dial up a couple years back. LOL

As for me, my computer is my bestfriend. Because of my computer, I earn money since my work requires a lot of time in my computer. But of course, sometimes my computer gives some trouble when some of its parts or its software have problems. But it is just normal for a machine. I never treated my computer badly. I always make sure that is is always in good running condition. All I can say is that my computer has been a reliable buddy.

Hi Wolfie, I really have to admit that I love my computer, growing up in a time when there were none available makes me like it that much more. When I run into problems I get mad at my cable provider and many websites when it runs slow, really annoys me alot. Overall I am pretty happy.............Dear Doctor, My name is Dellingo, I am Howard's computer. Howard has just left his desk to get some coffee and pee, allow me to tell you what he failed to mention, he has a nasty temper sometimes and yells at me, since my exterior color is black he never gets to see how I blush with some of the cuss words he uses - it is terrible! He also snacks and gets crumbs on my keyboard, he thinks by just turning me upside down and giving me a few shakes the problem is all solved - NOT! I have also had the unpleasant experience of having the idiot drink diet pepsi while reading something funny and spit splash it all over my face leaving sticky spots that he had to clean off and to make matters worse he was laughing while he was cleaning me up. What a jerk! He slams my buttons on my mouse so hard, no reason for that, the page is not going to download any faster and what about when he moves me around at such high speed that I crash into the side of the keyboard causing a severe headache. Not very pleasant. Oh - I've got to go, he is coming back, please make an appointment for him to see you, he needs to have his mouth washed out with soap. Thank you, bye....Sincerely Dellingo.

Thank goodness the government doesn't have an agency that goes around arresting people for computer neglect, we'd all be in trouble.

I love my computer. We talked about marriage once, he and I, but we didn't want to ruin a wonderful friendship. There is hardly anyone though that I would rather spend drinking my morning coffee with or reminiscing with into the late night hours. Abuse? Why I could never bring myself to touch a single key on his board without anything but unadulterated joy. Although, I have to admit that I haven't showered him with anti-virus creams or spyware lotions lately and due to my lack of affection, I did have to reformat. All those programs, pictures and such so lovingly picked out by me and installed by him, but its only material things and we always have each other. Thats what really counts. Don't you thing? Hi Wolfie, nice to see a discussion posted by you. So how are you and your computer getting on these days?

Hello my friend, we definitely have a love hate relationship! Sometimes he loves me when I tickle him (the keys!) and other times he hates me because I start getting bad tempered with him and he starts to see my shirt rip and me going green isn't a pleasant site. You sure do look after him and he is a very very lucky computer, in fact my computer says that if I don't treat him right he's going to run off and join yours!

YES to all of the above.
I shout at my computer because I can guarantee that when I do not have much time to play, it will play up for me. It will not load up, or it is torturingly slow or it wants to update and switches off on me.
Yes I am surgically attached to my computer, I am now a joke within my family especially when it comes to going out for a day and not being able to get on it. I AM NOT THAT BAD honest, I just need one of those small laptops that I can fit in my handbag.
OK I have not smashed my computer or broken it, that is only because I know I cannot afford the repair bill or a new one.
I Love my computer Xx

Hello wolfie34,
Oh my God, I think you have completly lost the plot, yes my computer is a happy and gentle little and sometimes it laughs at me and I haven't even said any thing funny to her, she is very pretty and sits on my lap all day but when shes had enough she goes very slow and cannot be bothered and I think this heat wave is getting to her.Now and again she loves a face lift and the outcome of that makes people like her new looks, but some people can't make up their min because they use to what she was. I have a love hate relationship with her I hate her because I'm addicted to her and I love her as I want be with her all the time.he he he.

For me my computer is a big necessity for me, and if ever it's lost, aw man. I want to be a programmer, so whatever the situation may be, even if it trips, go on hanging, slow down, crash, BSOD my face, I still love my PC. Sometimes I shout at it, ram it really hard, scream "DAMMIT WORK!" or "NOOOOOOO!!! THAT WAS OUR THESIS DOCUMENT AND IT'S NOT EVEN SAVED!!!". I share a lot of my experience with this computer.
But my computer is not my best friend. It may have been there for so many times in my life when I am down but...
Okay, he's a good friend.
WOW! 10000 posts??!!!

I abuse my printer, see, because it's bigger and can take the abuse! My computer, on the other hand, requires love and care. (*evil laugh*)
Just kidding. I am often annoyed at my computer and its speed, and there are times I actually scream at it. However, I tend to not smash my computer, as this can lead to unwholesome results, including but not limited to keys falling off keyboards and mice that no longer work. Besides, haven't you read that nice Onion article about the woman who couldn't get along with her computer? Her computer sure wrote a nice spiel in his defense...

Interesting thoughts here. I actually got a little laugh from this one myself, and can relate for sure. There are those times when you would Love it to do as you asked, and not like it wants you to do. There are the times maybe where your ISP is dragging or myLot site is dragging and you just want to scream or hit something. There have been many times I would Love to hit my Computer as well.
Remember Windows ME? Back when I had a Computer with that operating system, it was always a nightmare. No matter what I did. And then my Computer crashed, etc. due to a virus due to my ISP, etc. and I was actually glad to have a reason to get my Computer I have now. Even on the Slow days anything is better than ME.

I got to admit this. I cannot do without my computer. It is my business tool, my relaxing tool, etc. Today, majority of businesses need the computer, and I am no different from anyone of them.
There are times, I try my best to stay away from the computer and have a good rest or do some other activities. No matter how important it is, I think my health is more vital.

I love my computer, I really do. Because now I can talk to all those little voices in my head and I have proof they do answer me. LOL
Seriously though i do like the computer it has been a way for me to feel like I have someone to talk to when there are no other talking adults around,. I mean I love my kids but sometimes you want to talk to someone that is an adult or at least not someone who you have to tell what to do and supervise to make sure they are, I hope you understand what I mean.
But seriously the computer could possibly cure mental illness those hearing voices can talk to those voices and get responses back and have written proof that someone answered them LOL
Hope you have a great day. and I hate it when my computer decides to go on vaction without telling me first....

I must say it's all of thee above for it's some days it acts all fine and other days it's slows, boots me where I have to log back into websites and it just drives me nuts. I do scream, hollar, and swear at it oh you bet. I can be right in the middle of a project and it just gives out on me. There are days that it can really be good to as well it'll load up fine, run fine, not give me one problem all day. Those are the days I like and wish I had them more often.
