Well it finally cooled off a bit and we have been talking about
baking the last few days and I decided it's time! So as I'm
typing this I have one in the oven. I'n baking a swirl cake.
It smells yummy. I made a 2 layer cake and will frost it
with creamy chocolate frosting. Come on all you bakers-join
me. Anyone in the mood to bake too? What would you like to
bake?

Hey Opal,
That cake sounds good! Post a picture if you can.
I have been in the mood to bake lately. I baked some Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins a few days back and some biscuits (like KFC type) yesterday. Today I made a chicken pie and I have been in the mood to bake some Half and Half cookies but I don't want to bake them till I finish off my oat and raisin cookies (which are much better than I expected!) But yeah, I am in a baking mood for sure.

Hi Opal, I am sure your cake will be delicious, we will be baking one later today, but it will be pink sponge as my son will be helping LOL (4) and will taste wonderful but won't look too godd as I let him do everything except the hot, hot, hot oven bit. He will then decorate with whatever we have avaiable and will often fill with chopped friut, his speciality bless. It is fun though. Ellie :D

Your cake sounds so yummy , can I have some ? hehe hee !!I onced tried to bake my dad a cake , but it was burnt on the outside , and the inside was still too warm , and gooey . Not even my pug dog would eat it
I have mastered just reg cooking , and still getting the hand of baking . This year with lots of hard work I did make my dad a chocolate chip cheesecake , and it was awesome .

LOL--I love to cook and bake but yikes...my oven stays off from around May to maybe October as it would make my apartment too gosh darn hot. Once it does get cooler though, I'm hankering to maybe bake some of my homemade breads like I used to...I really don't bake too many cakes or pies anymore as its' just me now...it was different when both my grandmother and mother were alive. The only time I do any real pastry baking is on the holidays, like my sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving and my Cranberry Walnut bread for Christmas

Ok pye, so you're a bread maker. Well I'm a bread fanatic!
I have never made bread. I'm kind of afraid of yeast.
If you could give me some helpful tips I would appreciate
it. I have made sweet potato pie. That is one of my
favorites. Your Cranberry Walnut bread sounds good to!

Not in the mood to bake because it is so hot here and the oven heats the house up so I dare not turn it on. The cake sounds good thou

I am glad to hear that it is turning out well. The last thing that I baked were meatballs. I used bake cakes frequently, but since I am on a diet it is not a wise idea as I will eat them all.

baking is very rare for me, i do it sometimes not regularly bake
but i use my oven for grilling purpose. i use to grill chicken
make some sorts of chicken dishes which we like the most
it becomes so easy if we try cooking chicken in a oven n also
tasty, which also reduces using fat content n also its a good way
to cook with any oil, if u r weight concious

I sure wish I can bake a cake!
I am an aspiring chef and I have tried baking, but it's just not for me. I can whip up a nice pasta dish or something meaty, but I really have a hard time with baking. There are just too many darned calculations and preparations and maybe I'm just not born with the "baking gene"
But anyway, I'm happy that you have succeeded with your baking thingie. Good for you!

Hi inkyuboz! Wow! You are studying to be a chef! That is so
cool! I love to cook and experiment! I bake from cake mixes
in a box! I don't do too well from scatch either! So you could
do just as well as me by reading the box and mixing the ingredients
too! I did get pretty good with frosting and making nice swirls
though! lol

Hello Opal.
It's so funny that I'm reading some of your older discussions and came across this one. I had been wanting to bake a white cake with fluffy white frosting lately. And I just baked it yesterday! Two of my sisters came over for Stitch 'n B-tch last night (we get together once a month to do crafts), so I decided I'd bake it for our dessert (we always have just dessert). That way, my husband and I would have the rest but we wouldn't have the whole cake just between the 2 of us.
Your swirl cake sounds pretty and delicious! Hope you enjoyed it. I love to bake cakes but almost never do because of the fats and calories. Take care.

I feel like baking too. I want to bake a caramel cake. With dulce de leche frosting or filling. My teeth is starting to hurt just by thinking about how sweet it's going to be but sometimes it's the only way to go. Enjoy your swirl cake!
