Technical difficulties at the movie theater.

How many of you have gone to the movies and were excited to see a movie, when all of a sudden the movie starts flickering off and on? How did you react to missing parts of the movie? Did you curse or yell you want your money back? Today I went to see the movie "The Dark Knight" and this is what happened to all of us in the theater today. Halfway through the movie it started blacking out or the sound would disappear or both. It was so annoying and people were getting upset and yelling. Some people took the right approach and went and complained to the manager. We were given a free movie ticket to come back. You would think with the high prices we pay, they would have good technology.

Hello. I have worked at several theaters years back as a manager at them. Well, the one theater I worked in before it even opened. So, we ran into alot of problems them first couple weeks. We had movies that the picture would just go out half way through and the projection crew didnt know how to get it going again, some movies were way to loud, others lost the sound, the list could go on. So, I have seen and heard many complaints and had to deal with alot of upset people. Most would, of course, be upset somewhat, but a few took it to a new level. They were very rude, cursing and yelling. I cannot blame them for being upset, but some went overboard. We would reimburse their money and give them one or two free passes. So, I have seen this happen to others but never did it happen to me.

i experienced that twice.. at least... well, these two i remembered anyways... 1st. it was while watching a Hindi Movie "Badshaah".. they had problem getting the picture on the screen.. and the sound was bad... they had to switch the movie on and off a few times.. and finally asked all the patrons to move a new 'screening room'.. i guess it was good thing it happened during a midnight show.. and that there were other rooms for them to shift patrons to... my husband actually stopped going to that particular cinema for quite some time after that... and when we thought it was 'okay' to visit them again... we had the 2nd. experience.... this time we were watching "Narnia (the 1st.one)"... this time also they problems with the picture and sound... more sound problem this time.. the actors sounded as though they were talking underwater... and this time.. it was during peak hours.. so.. they couldnt shift us to a new room.. they returned our money.. we didnt want free tickets.. because everyone wasnt sure if we wanted to face the same experience all over again... we did go to watch Narnia another day.. at the same cinema.. and this time it was ok.. thank god..

Hi kgwat, Wow! that sucks..LOL! I can't blame those who are yelling and complaining since when we pay we just deserve to be served best! That is good that they gave you another ticket but for some I am sure it's additional burden for driving back there and spending more on gas!

This reminds me of the time when I was younger when the projector operator would fall asleep or be doing something else and neglect the projector resulting in the following reel not being loaded correctly causing a blank screen. Some people would shout and maybe some might have cursed, I don't remember. I just wait for the movie to resume. Cheers!!

I am sorry to hear that that happened to you,and I am glad that they made it up to ya'll by giving ya'll a free movie ticket to come back,I can honestly say that I do not think I have ever experienced that, but if I did,I would probably be bouncing off the walls, cursing, among other things, and then I would probably go tell the manager that the movie messed up,and that I might never go back to the movie theater again, but that is just me lol.

People were very upset and yelling some things. I may have voiced my opinion but there were children in the audience who should not hear some of the things coming out of peoples mouths. LOL The free movie ticket calmed people down, otherwise they would have lost customers.

Yeah I can understand that children do not need to hear some of the things that were being said, and I am glad that the free movie ticket calmed the mob lol or else the manager might have been chased out by people carrying torches and pitchforks lol and then they would have lost a lot of business, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting.

You are the third person that I have heard went to see the movie. The other guy had troubles too, the power was out. That does stink that you couldn't just sit there and enjoy the movie, lets hope when you use your free ticket that things are better. Its real nice seeing you again, take care and have a good weekend.

Hi there! It was an excellent movie, except for the technical difficulty part. I missed some parts of the movie because of the problems and will have to see it again sometime. If I go again and there is problems, I will go to another theater. Have a great weekend as well.

I would have definitely demanded a free ticket or my money back. I'm glad they got it. I I am going to pay for something, I expect it to e done right. I do't have time or tecnical dificulties, or any other kind of difficulties when I have paid for the job to be done right!!

Had they not given us a free ticket, I certainly would not have returned to that movie theater. They definitely should think about improving their technology so that people can sit and enjoy the movie all the way through without any problems. Hopefully they fixed it so that people going tonight will not go through the same problem.

I goto the theater very less and i had never had found any technical difficulties so far, if i would have found then certainly i would also get angry because we are not only spending money to come to the theatres but we are coming out with our loved ones and has scheduled a time for it all will have become a waste if such this happens .Im ok that the theartre owner has given you another free ticket , but are you going to watch the movie once again from the first??? are you free on the date when your asked to come??

Wow, and it happened while showing a major block buster movie. Was it a huge cinema or a small-town kind of unfranchised theater? Well, it was nice that they gave everyone a free ticket.

It was a huge cinema - Regal Cinema. Regal is big in our area. They should use the money we pay for tickets and concessions and use it to improve their technology and service. The free ticket is nice but it was difficult to enjoy the movie more because we missed parts of it due to the problems.

I went on a date with my girlfriend and we went and saw Wedding Crashers which you know came out in the summer. You could feel the humidity outside and it was warm inside with the AC pumping as fast as it could manage. Needless to say there was a ton of moisture in the air. The moisture must have gotten into the ceiling tiles cause one of them fell from the top (way up there) to the seat right next to us. Not that anyone was hurt but I went and scammed some free tickets for endangerment.

Yes it has happened to me too! We go to the movies alot, while we seeing "Ghost Rider" awhile back the electricty was going out! It was a bad thunderstorm and the lights were flashing, the movie stopped for about 5 minutes. I was a little annoyed but there was lots of people cursing and demanding their money back. They ended up rewinding the movie. I agree about the technology part, it's $9 a person for one movie ticket here, and $8 for a soda and popcorn!! Way too expensive not to have a generator!

I have had where the movie has flickered or not been lined up with the screen at the beginning of the movie. Or the sound has been off. I have never had a movie mess up in the middle before. I would hate that and it would definitely make me mad. If that happened to me I would go see mgmt right away and request my money back or a voucher for a new ticket. I'm glad they gave you guys a free ticket, that was the right way for them to react!

We were all very frustrated with all the problems that occurred during the movie. The action was really good and very suspenseful and then the flickering and loss of sound and both happened. They would have lost a lot of customers for sure had they not given us a free ticket. They should put our money into getting better equipment so that they do not have these problems again.

Yeah, it kills me when that happens but I do try to enjoy the rest of the movie regardless and wait to see it on DVD without any interruptions this time. It might be a long time to wait but hey, at least I'll get to see the movie again if I really did enjoy watching it.

I've had that experience only one time in my life. However, it was during the trailers and it was fixed before the film started. That sucks that you had to go through that. And I'm glad that they gave you a free ticket to go back. And it's true with the money we pay for the film we should also receive top notch technology.
