Do you keep things even after they break?

I've always been a frugal person.
Maybe too frugal! When one of my favorite
figurines breaks, I don't simply throw it
into the trash.
I like to glue things back together.
And if I'm out of glue, then I put the item
away until I can buy glue. It's cheaper than
replacing things.
Unfortunately, some of my broken items are still
waiting to be fixed, as they are also now missing parts!
Do you keep objects after they break, in hopes that they
can be mended or repaired one day?

I try to save most things that get broken. I'm like you and have many projects waiting too.
I have been saving almost every piece of glass I have broken for about 20 years. I have even bought broken pottery and glassware. I break the items more and make stepping stones and other fretwork things.

It's not that hard. I did a window frame once, it turned out very nice. I strategically placed a huge variety of findings in it including crystals that when the sun light hit them made rainbows in the room.

That is phenomenal! I've always loved those glass and tile
mosaics. Never been able to do that kind of stuff myself
or I'd do entire walls!

I think for me it depends on where the item breaks. If it doesn't break in a terrible spot, I'll keep it until I come to the conclusion that it can't be fixed or it really serves me no purpose. However, if the thing breaks and I can glue it back together and it would stay functional, I'd keep it and just fix it. If I can fix it, there's no point in throwing it away.

If something breaks I will put it back together. If I have to wait, I'll put all the parts into a litle bag, so they will all tay together in oe place. If I jus put things in a drawer, I'd never find the missing parts again.

I'm going to try that baggie trick!
I used to be super organized.
Now things are getting away from me.

Yes I sure do. As long as it hasn't shattered then yes I'll keep it and try my best to mend it however, if I can't then I'll throw it away. My husband broke my salt shaker which WAS a set which included the pepper shaker (of course) cream container, sugar container and three piece canister set. I tried my darnest to repair it but it just wouldn't stay together right and couldn't hold the salt so I had no choice but to throw it away.

I never keep things that i break. i just can't help myself dumpping them into the trash and never want to give them a more glimpse. when an item is broken, i think its mission in my place is done and it's time to just let go. Guess what? i just can't put up with the fact that they don't not look the same as exactly how they look like the moment i bought them, the look that attracted me into checking it out.
i keep on doing this and sometimes i do realise i'd better keep it rather than just throw it away for convenience because we should not judge a book by its cover, right?

I do repair some of my favorite things by doing just like
you do.But there are some things that cannot be glued back
together. I know it's hard but i have to let go of some of
my broken things. No matter how you repair it it will never
be back to the original state they used to be.

I know! And it's so hard to say
good bye to family heirlooms that are
shattered. You simply can't glue crystal
back together again! So sad.

Most of the time, I loose a part or two. And most of the time, i don't get to stick them back together. So now I've decided to let go.

I used to keep everything and try to fix it but it seems like we have so much stuff that needs to be fixed that it is just better to throw a lot of it away. I know it sounds wasteful but really we could handle some extra room around the house. We are trying to take a lot of our stuff to the local thrift store. There has to be somthing said for not having the clutter.

If I know I am going to fix them then I keep them. If I don't have the means to fix them then I throw them away or recycle them.

If it's fixable, I do try to repair it. Sometimes things get busted into such small pieces it is impossible. Tile can break things into millions of pieces.

Well it really all depends on what it is. If it is something expensive then usually I won't and I will try and save up money to fix it. If it is something cheap than I will throw it away. I don't have too many expensive things though. So I usually try not to brake anything. Another problem is that some of the stuff we have are not that much money at all and once it is broken it isn't worth fixing. It sometimes will costs us more money to fix it than the whole thing did from the beginning.

i usually do that. i don't like throwing away things. i always think that i bought it using my own money so might as well save the broken pieces until i can fix them. just like you, i haven't fixed most of them and are still inside a box or somewhere in the apartment waiting to be fixed.

although i would like to mend items if possible in such a way that they continue to perform well. I wont go to the extent of keeping with me items that are no longer in working or are of no use. I would throw them away and buy new ones.

it depends, if it is an item that is very sentimental to me or if i spent alot of money on it. but i wont just keep something just because i dont want to throw it away. now i do find myself keeping crossword puzzle book even after i have done like 90% of the book and i have new ones just because i dont want to get rid of it.

If I break something accidentally, I try to fix it first with a glue so I can preserve the object. If I don't have an available glue, I put them in a ziploc bag so all the parts won't be lost.

I wouldn't say it's being frugal, but being smart. I really enjoy repairing broken things and if I can making them better. Also, if something breaks and it's unfixable I always find other uses for the thing that's broken and create something new. That's the fun part about using broken things people see as junk/trash is to create something new and unique.
