How do you get your milk? from the milkman or is it from packed cartons?

milkman - a milkman on his rounds ...

We get our daily quota of milk from the milkman. He milks his cows early in the morning and supplies it to our house and other houses in our neighbourhood The milk is fresh although it appears to be watery.. Most of the milk men here add water to the milk to increase the quantity ... cant do anything about that. Sometimes we buy milk from the store in packets.. So how do you buy your milk? Is it from the milkman or in cartons? Do you like the packed milk or do you like fresh milk ....

hi chrisone.. The problem is the packeted milk we get here is not good for health and has a lot of pollutants.. So it is better to have the watery milk because all other nutrients are intact.. And we always take it after boiling it so it is not hazardous..

I go to a milk diar, which is very near to my house, to fetch the milk. I get it fresh everyday as the owner has lots of cows and buffallows. If I go very early in the morning, hopefully, I fet pure milk. If it gets late, I am not sure if he starts mixing water or some sort of other milk in the pure milk. We get rich fat on the surface of the milk, when we boil our milk, therefore, I think that milk given to us is creamy and rich in fats.

In my country, there are no milkman. Well, I guess there are some who has this business, but not in the city. We get all the milk we need from the grocery in cartons. Processed commercially. Most milk products are imported from other countries like Australia, New Zealand, etc. I guess this is better than not being able to drink milk at all. Milk is very good for the body.

Earlier, wse used to get it form the milkman, we used to go to his place and he used to milk the cow in front of us, he will show us the vessel before starting to milk to make sure there is no water in it and then give it to us directly...but now-a-days, we are able to get up that early liek before to go his place and collect the milk, it will be around 5 a.m. when he milks...so, we buy milk cartons now-a-days

Very interesting to hear of little life differences in other countries.... Milk must be pasturized in the U.S. People mostly go to the grocery store here for just about everything here. There are becoming fewer and fewer bakeries, or produce markets that stand on there own these days. Our local bread store just closed due to lack of business. Some large chain stores that carry "everything" at bargain prices are just too hard to compete with for these small family owned businesses even if the product is better at the smaller place. It is sad really that it has come to this. However, I guess people are really more interested in conveince these days. Now a days most households require at least 2 incomes, I suppose saving time and money is of the utmost importance!

Yes youre right. The small scale businesses are dwindling . Its so sad.. Theres no personalised service in these convenience stores. Here too things are going the same way... I liked the personalised service...

Even the smaller Walmarts were better before the SUPER STORES. They used to have good customer service and people to help you find what you were looking for. The sales and Clearances were great. Now you cannot get any help in that store and I think as a routine shopper, I can help a fellow shopper find somthing better than the workers in there. I do miss the smaller bussiness' too. It seems like the bigger companies ran them out of bussiness and then got so big their selves that they are doing a lousy job. Sad so sad

Aavin milk - Aavin is the leading milk supplier in India
I buy packaged milk in plastic bags from Aavin - the leading milk suplier in India. Its pasteurised and toned so its safer than fresh milk and also is given to me within 24 hours of being packed.

If ever i buy packeted milk i prefer to get aavin. But i heard rumours about it too. that they are giving injections to the cows to give more milk so it is laden with hormones and other unwanted things.... I dont know the truth ... Aavin is better than the others...

we buy it from the milk man but sometimes if the milkman is absent or we need more milk to make something special we buy it from the shop which is packed. we prefer milkman because its fresh,as the cow gives he supplies it to us but ya as always for his good going bussiness he adds water for profit,as every milkman does!

I used to get milk delivered from Royal Crest to my front door twice a week. They have milk with no hormones or additives. When they started raising their prices and adding on a delivery surcharge(due to higher fuel prices) I stopped the delivery. I now get my milk from the grocery store and buy the organic milk which has no hormones in it and is healthy for us. I have to go to the grocery store anyway so this only made sense. Even though buying the organic milk is more expensive than the regular milk it is still less expensive than having it delivered. It is one of many budget cuts we have made in the past year to deal with all the rising prices.

Glad to hear that you have a milkman. That is not possible here in my place. Usually I buy milk from the grocery that say "fresh" milk. LOL. Milk is very delicious and nutritious. I love drinking milk. Take care =)

Hello there. I still wish that there was a milkman or "person" that delivered milk. We gol to the store and just pick it up there. But I think it would be fun to still have a person who delivered milk. Where my aunt used to live she would have her milk delivered from the Oberwise company. I remember when I was little and I used to go there she would talk about ordering and re-ordering. And I just remember that I thought having milk delivered was the greatest thing ever! lol. Not too many places offer that, so I think it's a cool thing to have.

I wish I had access to fresh milk but we don't we have to buy ours from the store. My grandparents had cows for milking and had fresh milk all the time. my grandmother made her own butter also. Nothing tastes as good as milk from the cow and butter fresh churned.

I buy mine from the store, there's no other way to get it here in the U.S. unless you have your own milk cow. I remember as a child seeing the milkman come and replace our bottles on the porch with what my mom ordered but people like that have been gone for over 40 years as the stores replaced them. Rather sad, because our milkman was very nice and every so often would throw in a small bottle of chocolate milk for us. I think he probably rotated that free bottle so that every family with children would get one at least once a month. I miss personalized, friendly service like that.

We get our milk in cartons from the grocery stores here in the city but in the rural areas, there are still many who get their milk fresh from the cows or carabaos.Fresh milk taste much better and I don't think water is added t it since it is not really a business of those who still sell. It's just selling the excess over what they need if any so there's no attempt to water it down just to increasee their gains.

Hi Naseeha..!! We get milk in cartons only...But,i prefer milk from milk man..Because,even though he adds some water the proteins and carbohydrates are not lost...Where as, in the packets..they pasteurize milk,by which we loose some proteins...and some people add some milk powder so as to make it thick... So,I like FRESH MILK from the milk man..even though its not pure completely...

i usually buy packed milk cartons.. because first reason is .some milkmen mixing more water with milk.. but packed cartons arent like that. and in our area its little difficult to find a place where's a milkman sells milk.. maybe i think have to go little far to buy milk from milkman. their price is low than milk cartons
