This past week, I was really not in the mood on responding. What I did was just browse through my friends discussions and some other discussions here. As I was browsing, this caught my attention. I saw two topics, the same title and the same content. It was started by my friend here and after an hour or two the second topic was posted. I let my friend know about this and later on made a post about copycats. Then just today, another topic caught my attention and was started by the person who copied my friend's discussion. The topic that was copied was posted 10 months ago and the copied one was started 4 days ago. Is this allowed here? I pity those friends of mine who exerted their efforts to post their discussions and later on being copied. What does this person really thinks? I looked in his profile and there are loads of discussions that he started that If I'm not mistaken I have answered in the past.
Now my fellow mylotters, how would you deal with this kind of copycat? Am I wrong in calling the attention of my friends who has been copied? I'm just concerned. What do you think is in the mind of this person. He just want to earn by posting topics. He never replies to his posts neither respond to other discussions here. Clear my mind please. Have you been in situation like this? your post have been copied? what did you do? Or have you see topics of the same title and same content? Your opinions, views and experience are very much welcome here. HUGZ!

I think a member could be inspired by
an older discussion. But they should
never copy it verbatim, word for word.
For instance they might say:
"How does this discussion impact me?"
"Have I ever been in a similar situation?"
And then they could relay a story about themselves
being in the same or similar situation.
And that would make it unique.
But they should not copy the original post.
That's just cheap!
And I'm sure Mylot doesn't want to pay
twice for the same discussion.

I remember you were the one who first called my attention to check the discussions, the first and the copied posts. And I positively agreed that the latter was definitely copied. That made me more aware of the topics that your friend, or our friend either will post. I am afraid that my posts or one of my posts will also be robbed by this too annoying member, one that we can call a thief. Sorry to say that, but I cannot find other words to describe him. Don't worry, I have reported some of his topics for abuse and I am glad that some of his topics too were deleted, just as I was about to check the contents of those. I guess he better be aware that the kind of attitude he is showing on here is not allowed.

Just last week I encountered the same matter when I post one topic.I got one comment, then after an hour maybe you can check on my posted discussions, there was someone who copied the first comment I've recieved,It caught my attention because while reading it, I said to my self, wait I have read this earlier. When I check the profile,it was a different person's name.I wasn't sure though. Some maybe using 2 names.
Maybe we should just ignore them. They are probaly lazy or stupid to write.Or probably not taking mylot as serious as we does. Such nuisance...

If we ignore them, they will continue to copy topics. This is not right. This person is doing nothing but copying topics and responses. Not one of these posts are his/her own thoughts. This is not fair to the people who put in so much time and effort to produce an intelligent, worth responding to discussion.
No, ignoring people like this is not an option. Report them every time you see his/her posts and you know it is a copy. That person does not have the right to do what he/she is doing here.

it is really annoying if somebody copied your post. i experience before my post was copied and immediately i send her the link of my post, she ask an apologize and promise not to do it again. in this case, i will boycott all his post if i found out that he/she copied my post. based on my previous discussion i do boycotting those individual i found that never respond to my post. i never delete them from my friends list but i would never respond to their discussion. this guy you mean is deserve for boycotting his post.

Well if the topic is really a copycat then this is really offending to the original poster. And also if you see that the user is not also answering his respondents and not answering other topics. I believe he himself is the loser in doing such because if his main purpose is to earn then he is not earning any better by that kind of style. I just hope mylot has a mechanic here that once the topic has been discussed before any similar topic will be automatically deleted. Actually,I believe there are cases when the poster has no intention of copying but the similarity could be just incidental but just the same I believe if the topic is very similar to previous post, it should likewise be deleted. I myself have seen a similar topic of mine posted by another user a week after mine. Well, I just shrugged it off and I just gave him the benefit of the doubt that it could be unintentional. Anyway, I am still the original. So CHEERS!

No this is not allowed here and needs to be reported. No one can copy/paste anything someone else has written and pretend it's their own. You can't even copy/paste your own words multiple times to answer similar discussions or start discussions on answers you've given other people.
Any time you see a copied post from this copy cat or any other for that matter you should report it and possibly PM others so we can make sure s/he is not stealing our stuff too.

I have seen a few cheaters on here. The most recent was a new user who was putting one word or letters in their responses. I reported it to mylot immediately. I didn't hear back from the admin, but I'm guessing this user was banned because they haven't posted anything since.
Another time I went against the rules and warned others of a particular user. He was cheating his way through mylot by copying other peoples responses and posting them as his own. The only reason I noticed it was because I saw the original poster's response and then his. I thought it was best if I warned the community of this cheater, even if it meant getting in trouble. I'm glad I did too, because I found out through the responses that I received that this wasn't the first time he had done this. A lot of us got together and reported it.
Its one thing if a discussion or response gets posted more than once because of a computer glitch. But if the person is deliberately posting the same discussion an hour or 2 later, then it just isn't right.
Copycats/cheaters are the type of people that give mylot a bad name and they don't deserve to be here. They should always be reported to the mylot admin.

Hi sis dhangski, I observed this really happens. Some are really copying those discussions just to earn, but some are making discussions out of knowing that this topic is existing. Some times it's similar to some of discussions a months or year ago. I even made some discussions most likely but I see to it that I don't copy their originality and content, because they might think I am only posting topics out of their ideas. I think your friend must report this incident If his discussion is really copied, this is unfair to his side. If someone copied my discussions, I will report it to admin. But If this is a co-incident I just let them do what they want. Anyway, it's not my lost. Thanks for the post my friend. Happy myLot!

I would report a copied discussion if it was word for word and recent. I have sometimes looked up something to see if anybody ever discussed it, and I might see something that was active 2 years ago. In that case, I will start my own current discussion, generally without reading the one that was 2 years old. Nobody is going to stumble upon something that has been inactive for 2 years unless they put in search parameters for it.
Anyhow, I think it was right to tell your friends that their discussions are being copied. I think it's distasteful to steal content from another person. What is the point? Oh yes, that elusive 'i want to make money thing'. Well, needless to say, copying and stealing content is more likely to get somebody caught and banned than earn them a few cents.

This should be reported..it is unfair for the original poster who have thought of what to post and then it will just be copied by lazy user..if i came across with such posts i will be reporting it immediately.

HI dhangski,
I have seen some new post from newbies who are posting the same question as I was asked before but it was a common question about life so I was not thinking it was copied from me..
I have read also a newfriend of mine complaining about this issue since almost every wordings in the new post were totally identical to his old post, so that is very obvious that it was copied!
I told him to report it to the admin so that it will be given right sanctions..It's not fair really!

This may be due to the problem of the posting . Some browser has posted the post but user is not sure when he see the error on page but in fact the discussion has been posted . This might not be the user cray on money. In my openion this is the network problem we should not take this a huge issue.

Hi Dhangski, interesting question you have posted here!
One or two days ago,I came across a discussion that looks very similar to one that I had posted a month ago or so. Well, I really didn't bother - we could be having similar thoughts, but different ways of expressing, and at different times. Later the poster came up with another post, saying that she did not copy mine. Well, I responded to that, saying that it's fine! After all, most people don't bother to cross-check.
So I'd not think too much about it - because I could never be sure that one day, I'd un-intentionally post a topic similar to another myLotter's , just because I forgot to cross check!
Have a good day, and happy myLotting!

Hi lazeebee. I saw that discussion that you've responded yesterday. But I wasn't able to leave my response. The topic that I was referring here is a really copied one, as in word for word. We've reported it as soon as my friend and I came across this discussion that that person started. This is not the first time that he does that, we reported last week a post from him too which was started 2 hours after a friend here started that same topic. It was really annoying because it really is a copied as in really copied. Well, that post was later on deleted after we reported it. HUGZ!

I never been in this situation before. If I see such discussions,I will first identify whether is coincidence or not. If only the topics are similar, maybe just coincidence, but if the whole story are the same,I will definitely report to Mylot. We need to stop all the copycats in Mylot.

Actually many people can think of the same topic and same question. Hence the questions keep repeating. Its not a big deal. I too have started some discussions but later came to know that similar discussions have been posted even before i joined...... But if the topic, question and content is absolutely same that means that some body has deliberately copied, as the way of expression of two people cannot be exactly same......I think mylot authorities should take an action against it.....Have a nice day.
