Can Money Give Us Happiness?

I think that money does give us happiness to an extent. It can make a person miserable constantly worrying about money; stressing over how to get the bills paid, wondering how to manage if an emergency comes up, etc. Money can bring you happiness when you have enough of it to be able to breathe easy knowing that financially you are taken care of. I don't think that it gives us ultimate happiness though. That can only be accomplished by a person's ability to enjoy what they have. I also hear that rich folks are lonely because they don't feel as though they have true friends; they always wonder if people only act as friends because they are just out to get some financial compensation.

I agree. Money may give us happiness but it's temporary, real happiness is what we do out of the money we have. If we use it for good and not for greed.

Of course money can give us happiness. Problem is that people don't "get" is that you have to make wise decisions about how to USE/SPEND the money. That is where it is determined whether your money will make you happy. Spend it wisely and you will be happy, spend it foolishly and you will be miserable...even broke again. Rich people aren't happy with their tons of money, cause they don't bother to use it wisely or spend it properly. THey have so much, they just can't fathom it and so they just spend carelessly and since the money continues to roll in, it doesn't mean a thing to them so they don't bother to use it wisely. Give me money and I'd be the happiest person on earth! I know how to use/spend it wisely!

julyteen hi well if you have just lost your job, and the rent is due, and you havent got another yet which is my and my sons problems right now, yes money will buy us happiness and pay the rent and a few other things. people are silly when they say m0ney cannot buy you happiness unless they have a mint themselves.if I was wealthy yes I might say money cannot buy you happ;iness but right now I would settle for as much money as I could get. lol

i think that money cant give us complete happiness but i know for a fact that it can help out alot. becuase sometimes alot fo the arguements that me and my boyfriend have are about how we havent had alot of money lately.and that has alot to do with the fact that i havent worked in a year because my company laid everyone off. but i know that once we get back on track then everything will be okay.

I have to agree with you. Money will never be the main source of happiness, even to the rich people. I know some rich people and some of them are not that happy because money failed to bring them happiness. Most of them believe that money is everything, and every single thing that possesses happiness can be bought by money. Such notion is wrong, and when they try to "buy" happy things, they end up disappointed because things just never flow that way. It's true that money can indeed bring a little happiness in your life. Not having to listen to your parents argue where to find money is heaven for me. But nevertheless, my family is still happy. We have ourselves and we are still complete. We have a nice dog who keeps us happy and God to provide us with everything we need. I guess, true happiness lie on the things that can't be bought by money.. And even though I study hard to be rich someday, I know I will always remember that the things money can buy will never be greater than the things that it can't buy.

Let's all be practical here. Everyone (okay, most everyone) needs money to survive. There are essentials that we can't do without, and they can only be had with money. Now, is money necessary to become happy? Yes and no. Yes, because sometimes there are simple things that we need to spend for that will make us feel happy or at least, lift us out of the doldrums. Imagine having a real bummer of a day, so you decide to catch a movie in the hopes you forget. Turns out the movie was funny and made you appreciate certain things in your life that you took for granted. So, you leave the movie theater feeling happy. No, because money can be the source of a lot of headaches and even heartaches. Remember, there are those who marry for money. Being happy is a state of mind. Even if you've got nothing by way of material goods, but you are content with your life and your relations with people, I should think you're happy. And money has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Well the saying does go money can't buy happiness, but I say I would love to try, give me an unlimited amount of money and I will tell you whether that saying is true or not! I would love to have the money to have my own place to be independent again, to be able to afford to travel to New Zealand and to be able to set up my own business, that would be wonderful, life is to short to be poor and miss out on so much. Yes I do believe money would make me very very happy indeed. Money can't buy friends that is true but it can sure buy happiness!

Hi there julyteen! Money can only give temporary happiness. It cannot buy us the more important things in life like true happiness, love, peace and freedom. We might have noticed that there are people who are filthy rich but are not contented. They may be swimming in millions but they are not happy.

It does..but not a complete happiness that everybody is longing for..Money can buy us our needs but not our happiness..money buys the thing that makes us happy but not all the happiness we get with our family and loved ones..money can't buy all the happiness that we have lost..like parted loved ones..even if we have plenty of money we can never bring back all the happiness that has already been gone.

Hi, money can only buy temporary happiness, that is what I believe. True happiness cannot be bought by what ever amount of happiness. I've saw lots of people with money who are not happy, but on the other hand, those that don't have really money are happy enough. The poor people have just a bad notion that money is equals to happiness, which is not really true. Money can bring us happiness, but it is only temporary. I believe that happiness comes from the people around us. Have a good day!

I think money can make us happy but not totally happy,because theres other rich people who is not happy because i think they need someone to be with there life.And some poor people can be happy of love but they are having problem with money.Money can make your life go round but you still need someone who make you happy.I know money is really important in our life but we cant be totally happy if there is no someone who is there with us.

There are those who say money can't buy happiness. I guess they have no money. LOL! I have also heard that money is the root of all evil. A smart person knows the value of money and how to make it work for the good. Others fall into the trap of believing that money can bring status. One thing I remember that was said by Stanley Marcus of Neiman Marcus was that he wanted the employees to treat all shoppers as if they were important because the guy in the tattered jeans might be rich and the woman in the nice dress might not be.

When poor people like me have my hands on money from monthly salary, there's a tendency to spend more because of our desires for a better life, like buying IT products, have good food etc but this unwise management of money comes with suffering, because there is little left for survival. Most have been spent on impulse. So I think that it is important for a person to have a strong guiding life philosophy that teaches him that real happiness does not derive from material possessions.

Hmmmm.... for me NO! I can't buy the real and true happiness because for me the meaning of happiness is love....when you find the right person who will love you and you will loved truly that is happiness. But you can also buy the temporary happiness in many material things like when you want something that makes you smile and feel grateful, and you can buy it that is also the different meaning of happiness.

Hello dear julyteen. I think that it is when we have enough money to live on and to get us satisfied with our daily necessities and when we can have a happy relationship with us can we get the happiness that we desire to have. When these two are well combined, we can feel better and happier...

The reality is .....money can give any one much happy, but you see this two ways, one:- who are suffering from their life due lake of money, if they got money surely make their life happy, Two:- who got already money they can ride any where but they are losing their relationship with their own family members, becuase they dont have to time to spend and enjoy the life, they just need to get more money, and they always feels that their accouts still 99, they want to fill up their accounts 100.

Money can give happiness of course but NOT COMPLETE happiness.. there are some happiness that money can't give.. as we all know there's a lot..
