What do you think about abortions? Is it right or wrong to have one or to perform one?

I think that is up to the woman to decide that. After all, it's her body...

Abortion is the intentional premature expulsion of the foetus from the womb. The law in the UK allows an abortion to take place if; to continue in the pregnancy would cause a risk of injury to the physical or mental health of the woman, greater than those of going through an abortion, risk to existing children or if the baby is going to have a serious handicap. The 1967 Abortion Act says that if two doctors agree that the baby is a risk to the mother’s life then an abortion can take place, this is excluding Northern Ireland. This can be performed up to the end of the 24th week of pregnancy. Many Christians oppose abortion. One reason is that they believe that the unborn baby is special, different and has potential personalities and have a lot to offer in life. Every aborted foetus was a potential human being, perhaps even a Beethoven or an Einstein. Another reason is that if abortion is acceptable, where do we draw the line? They consider abortion is a form of infanticide. What’s the difference between killing a child of two and an unborn baby?I think that you may have different opinions.Anyway hope everyone understand my point.

I think it's wrong, but that's my opinion, if a person was raped on the other hand they might want to get rid of the child but will that make everything better, will it make them forget the terrible thing that happened to them, why don't they just give the baby up for adoption to the millions of people who can't have babies and want. I don't think killing a baby should be an option.

Your opinion is a good one and I hope more women who are raped seriously think about adoption instead of abortion. Thanks for your response.

China is cold-blooded and the government should not have a damn thing to say about what a woman does with her body. The law? that is no law its Nazi rule and dictatorship. I know its wrong, anyone knows 6 abortions is wrong with capital WRONG.. What kind of country would allow laws like that to be made? How barbaric can you get.. Im really upset about this. THanks for your responses and I hope you all will continue to respond to my discussions. I gave you both a big + for your responses. THey were good.

I think all the circumstances why a person wants an abortion should be considered. And very seriously. I knew someone who was somewhat promiscuous and irresponsible with contraception and so had had six abortions! That was a real shock to me. She was abusing the fact of legal abortions. When the decision is made with the child's future in mind then there is more chance of a fair decision being made. For example, if the child was likely to be severely retarded what is fairer to the child etc etc. In MY opinion it is not really ONLY about the woman and her rights but the child should be the main consideration before the mother. In China women are forced to have abortions per the one child policy. So, it's enforced and "legal" abuse! Even if the unborn child is near the end of gestation!!! The mother and child are not considered here-only the government, who do not know how to make use of the best thing they've got-a massive population. Just my 2 cents. I am generally against abortion but would agree with it in certain very unfortunate circumstances.

I was raised Catholic, but have different views on this subject, I do not believe in abortion, there are soo many programs out there and people wanting to adopt, there are alot of different routes a pregnant woman/young girl could go,some couples will even pay for your care. BUT in the case of rape, incest and molestation, yes,I feel that they should have a choice. Reasons being, the child could have birth defects, and would always be a constant reminder of a very terrible situation, and might not have the right kind of love.,even though it is not the childs fault. But on the other hand who am I to tell someone what to do with their body, that is their own choice, and their own body's,they have to live with what ever they decided. Only God can judge us now.....

The response you have given is a good one as always you give to me an insight on your thought and reasons are good. In the cases of molestations, rape, incest deforms.it is the mothers rightand duty to do what she thinks is best for her child and for herself. I have given you a PLUS + for your response. Thanks..

I do not care what you say it is MURDER its still developing into a human being so even though it can not think or feel, its like a small retarded child but the difference is that this ratarded child will be cured with the coming months. Thats just an example. This is my views anyway and you have a right to yours..

absolutely it is wrong, for me killing is a mortal sin, even the tiniest creature,we call fetus, they are humans, they have the right to live. and i really feel for those aborted ones, they did not even see and breath, not even felt the beauty and blessings of being alive...

I think its up to the individual to decide on whether to keep a baby or not and if they choose to abort then it is their choice and should not be condemned for doing it. I don't think I could ever abort a child, however if i found myself in a situation like this, then I would rather be made aware of ALL the options out there for me and make the decision which is best for me and my unborn child.

This is a very touchy subject, I think it depends upon the persons situation. However, personally I am totally against abortion, if you cannot care for the child, or do not want the child their are so many loving couples that cannot have children that would make very good parents. So I would say have the baby and give the baby up for adoption to loving couples that cannot have children, or give to a family member to raise, that way later in life instead of the regret you can be part of that childs life in some form. You will know how they are, what they look like, when they are ill, etc... I lost my first baby and it still bothers me to this day, I wonder what life would have been like if he had lived, what he would look like, how he and my daughter would have gotten along, what they would have done together, would he have protected her. To still think of him it brings a tear to my eye and I truly miss him and still love him even though I never say his little face =, his little hands, etc... Ok crying here, so thats it. I am sorry if not everyone agrees with my opinion, but that is what this is, my own personal opinion. And I say to each his own, I will not judge and do not judge.

Quality I see by this comment that you have a good head on your shoulders. This is a very touchy subject and this is why I brought it out to the attention of the others so that each one could think seriously on it and give us thier thought and even open up their hearts as you have and I want you to know that your story really touched my heart it is so compelling and moving and you bring out alot of strong points to really think about. Do not worry about everyone agreeing with you because not everyone will but its your opinion as you say and everyone has got one even if it is not to the others liking. But your so right it does depend on the persons situation. You take care and best of luck to you. I gave you a big +

Killing human beings is right or wrong ? If killing is wrong, then abortion is also wrong and it is a sin. Don't try to abort or advise it to people. Need of the hour is discipline in life, which may not create a situation that would necessitate abortion and other sin. Prevention is better than cure. So lead a disciplined life and enjoy.

I think they are wrong, When I was a younger man my girlfriend at the time had one and it haunts me to this day that I never got the chance to know that little life. I only hope that someday when I arrive in heaven and pass through the gates, he or she is there to great me and have the power of forgiveness for me.

Carmat, I truely belie that when you do arrive in heaven and pass through the gates of heaven that your loved one will be there to greet you and the forgiveness was given to you Im sure way before you get there. Try to forgive yourself and it will make life easier to bear. Thanks for your response it is filled with alot of strong emotion and I could tell at the time you wrote it that you were in pain. I hope since you talked about it and brought it to the open that you feel much better. It is always good to talk about things that bother you or hurt you. Again thanks for sharing with us.. I think it is up to the individual. There are many reasons for having one and I think it is up to the person to decide what they will or will not do to their body. Me personally, I'm pro choice, but I probably wouldn't have one. The only issue I have with it is I don't think it should be used as a form of birth control.

now that is one hard question to answer! the casual abortion is wrong. however, my elder sister had to have one to save her life. she and her unborn child would not have survived the pregnancy. it was a question of loosing the one or the both.
