Does anyone here have any idea what conversion rate mastercard uses for foreign purchases? Is it the same with the newspaper rate? Does mastercard mark-up on the published rate, if yes, any idea how much it is?

i think they will charge 3% of the cost of items , you purchase outside the country.
if u purchase online thats fine, no charge
if u move to some other country like from usa to europe, and purchase in europe shopping they charge you 3%

Yes, I am going to purchase online. So they just use the published exchange rate and there are no finance or international exchange or whatever charges? I have already purchased online before, but I just forgot if they did charge me something or not. Anyway, thanks for responding..

I am purchasing online in a country different from mine, I live in the Philippines. Basically I use my credit card and billing address but the items will be purchased in a US website and shipped there as well. Have you tried purchasing online in a website whose homebase is not in your country? Or will this not matter?
