There are just NO GOOD discussions Today!

See you saw the title and thought, what is he talking about. maybe he didn't see my discussion. Granted I responded to several discussions today, but over all I could not find any that I wanted to join. That is my opinion.
What is it in a discussion that really draws you in? Is the topic, the title, the content? Or is it the style that it was written in?
If the discussion is to long to read does it turn you off? Why is it that you decided to respond to This discussion?

What is to you a 'good' discussion to another may be completely the opposite don't you think?
I can always find something to respond to on any day. Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious (not politics as that's not my cup of tea).
Move about a wee bit more and I bet there's something waiting there just for you to respond on
Happy MyLotting!

Thanks, cause after all, according to the doubleloveyou version of the MyLot guidelines it reads "All discussions need to be written with doubleloveyou's mood in mind. Those who have not used their telepathic powers to see what he is thinking will have their discussions ignored" :)
I have been yawning all morning. I think that has a LOT to do with it. Just can't seem to get my mind going. Do you know what I mean?

I am not very selective when it comes to discussions, as long as I have something to say on the topic then I will reply to it. So I reply to about 1 out of 3 of the discussions that I come across. Some discussions are not aimed at my age group and others are not aimed at my interest area, so I let them pass by, but the rest I will reply to.
I decided to reply to this discussion to tell you that I had found many discussions that interested me and I had something to reply to them with, so there must be some good discussions.

I just find simple things that I think about and turn them around and ask pointed questions. Just like having a discussion with a friend. All that we do here is discuss. hope that helps.

There are alot of good discussions out there that I like to read and respond to.
I like to respond to discussions that catch my attention and seem interesting to me like your discussion for instants. I see some discussions that are really long and I will ty to answer those if I'm up to wating to do a long discussion that day.
I like the disussions that are not boreing they have meaning and or funny.

I like funny ones too. Some days, like yesterday, I just need a good laugh. Not that it was terrible yesterday, it was just a really LONG boring day. Made me kind of apathetic. :)

Long discussions does not turn me off. I respond to this discussion to inform you that there are variety of discussions here that you can contribute to. You should be able to look outside your interest and friends discussions. This is a wide variety and I know if you search then you will see things of interest.

I never saw any of yours. I went and checked to make sure you were on notify and you were. Hmm. I have had some wierd things happending on my account the last couple of days. For instance my earnings have not updated in 3 days and Friday I more active than I have been in a VERY long time. I sent them a message so hopefully they will fix all my issues.

Oops, I never answered your question. A Good discussion is whatever I happen to be in the mood for today. :) As you up in this discussion you will see that I have just had a blah day and am very tired. I think that is my problem today. I told someone that was in the mood ofr "Help me" discussions and couldn't find any that I could contribute to.

if the discussion is intresting and i have knowledge about it or if i have something to say about it then i respond. the title doesnt have to be so good as long as it is something that interests me. and the content it should have some detail but it doesnt have to go over the top.
i decided to respond to this discussion as i ahve something to say and like you i havent responded to many discussions today instead i have been making discussions.
sometimes storys turn me off if they dont have a question at the end so you can like talk to them and have something to say.

Very well put. At first I thought that it was just me. But I have heard many people say the same thing. My opinion is that people are busier right now so they don't have as much time. I have a list of discussions to start so perhaps, we who are looking, will help add to the collective quality of the on going current discussion pool. (WOW! That was a mouth full...Wait I didn't say it so that was...a handful) :)

i usually drawn to the discussion by the title... after that, i will read the content... sometimes the title can be misleading though and after i read the content and i decide that i don't have anything to say on the subject... so i decided not to response to it... it happens often to me nowadays... take care and have a nice day...

That makes me feel good. You thought that my content was good enough to respond to. This really does go to show that the Title is one of the most important part of your discussion. I don't care how well you write or can draw someone in, you need a good title to entice them to take a look.

Some days there are no discussions that draw me in and I stay away for a long while. Then again, since a certain friend of mine got banned, the site hasn't been as fun for me. Anyway sometimes it's the title or the topic or just the person who posted (because even a boring looking discussion can become interesting if you know the person who posted it gives a lot of good interaction). I decided to respond to this one because I had something to say on the subject, simple as that!

Sorry about your friend that got banned. That is too bad. I have had some friends leave and some came back. I try to be careful so as to not get banned. There is one of my friends that was ALWAYS on here and I could always count on them commenting. I have not seen her in a long time. (ok about a week) but that is long. :) Each person adds a new angle so when 1 of your friends leave or get banned it changes your discussions.

First off, I responded to this discussion because it's sort of related to a discussion I earlier posted which receive so many responses . The topic treated in that discussion is what seem to be the more popular discussions in MyLot and I mentioned that the discussions on trivial matterts seem to get more responses and are more popular than serious discussions or topics. So I'm not surprise at the topic you posted. Anyway, I think a catchy or intertesting title would do a lot in calling attention to the discussion so that at least I would open it. To hold my interest the topic should be interesting or challenging enough. The length of the discussion does not turn me off once my interest is caught and I don't mind in what style or if it was written poorly as long as the idea is clear to which I can respond.

Yes a discussion with a clear objective. I like to know what the author is looking for. What I don't like is responding to a discussion and coming back and the author says "No I was looking for this information not that." Make your questions specific and not confusing to the reader. Thanks for the response

I responded to this discussion, because I agree with you. I have been scrolling all day, trying to find something to respond to. I have responded to a few, but the pickings are slim to none. I like discussions, that I can relate to . I do not read any discussion that are asking ridiculous questions, and I see many of the same ones, "WHAT IS LOVE"
I have noticed, maybe because it is summer break, there are a lot of young teens and their discussions do not get my interests.

Yes I think the end of summer has something to do with it, unless of course you are in the southern hemisphere then it is the end of winter. :) As the holidays get closer people are trying to find ways to make money. that is when they will be coming back. I hope. :)

Hi there!
I have responded to your post because simply I have something to share.. Somehow I can relate to your topic. There are really days when you can't find interesting topics.
I only respond to post that interests me. I don't respond for the sake of my earning or to increase the number my post. Catchy titles do make me check on the post but it still depends if the topic is interesting.
With regards to long posts, sadly they tend to bore me. Usually I don't respond on them. I like posts that are direct to the point. With detais but not to long.
Ciao!

Yes a post that is short sweet and to the point. At the same time, however, it is good to not be too vauge. Draw people in. If you have an exciting title don't let the discussion bog people down. What I do is I will ofter pose a quest and not tell my point of view on it. Then people will ask me what my point of view is. That way I can actually carry on a discussion rather than just a question answer session. Thanks for the response.

Yeah, I agree...and here I am, yet responding to another HO-HUM one.....lol! Just joking, don't take that seriously. Exactly what are you expecting to get from a discussion to catch your attention? With all the discussions that have been posted here, just the new ones and never mind the couple of days old already, its surprising you cannot find something that is a bit interesting for you. Its not the lenght of the discussion that turns me off but the quality of it. Like I sometimes see o-called discussions that are plain "yes/no" ones which to me doesn't really fit the term "discussion", as there is really nothing to discuss.

As you can see on some of my comments to the responses, yesterday I was VERY picky on what I wanted to talk about. Nothing caught my eye. Usually there are more new discussions but I had responded to the one that I thought were good. There just was not as many as on a normal day.

If I only responded to discussions that were interesting than I would never make any money. If the person rambles on than I tend to scan past most of what they say.

After a while when the money side of it dwindles down and you come here for the discussions and the money is just a bonus you tend to get a little more picky. :) Welcome to the Lot

Well, I have noticed for some reason, this site is a lot Slower than it has been, and this has been more than just today. Maybe the normal people who are active in here are busy doing things. It is a Monday, and here in the US, a lot of the people could be at work. This is my day off so I dropped by to post a little and go from there. I see the discussions are quite sparse, so I can totally agree in where you are coming from for sure.

You know now that you mention it, it is the end of the summer. It could be that there are many of the regulars on vacation right before school starts. I'm sure it iwll pick up again. In the meantime I guess we will all have to pick up the slack :)

Pretty much the title draws me to respond to a discussion. I really hate the people from other countries who can't spell and their discussion is like one sentence. I don't like really long ones though I have posted a few long ones myself. I just started one about debt. It's in questions and answers.

I'm the same way. First I have to see what kind of discussion I want to get in on then I start looking. If I don't find a title that captures me I will seldom respond. As far as those who can't spell I can see that some times, but then I just remember that English is my first language and I still have a hard time with it. :)

I like to just scroll down and read the title and as well a the discussion. Really how it's written and length doesn't have any bearing on it for me, it's topic mostly and if it's original and not a repeat from a discussion posted just a few minutes prior.
It's a good thing I just don't read the title too, or I would have passed your discussion up because of it, LOL. When I see posts like...."There are no good discussions", two things go through my mind.
1- And they just contributed to that with theirs, LOL
2- why not then create one that they feel is interesting?
Don't get me wrong, I have my days as well, where it just seems like it's a day of repeat and repeat, no originality at all. But I just leave at that point and return later in hopes things improve, not make it worse and join the very group of people I'm not happy with by posting a rant that no one can really contribute to, LOL.
Glad to see you took something like this and created a really interesting discussion with some really good questions.
Well done friend

I'm not much of a complainer. In my discussions I try to get people to think beyond what they have thought of before. Perhaps that is one of the reasons I have been a pastor for the past 5 years. In this I didn't just want to rant about what i considered a slow day. i thought I would look at myself and ask other to look at themselves to realize that on a subconscience level we all tend to follow patterns in how we decided what discussions to join.

Dear friend,
The reason why I responded to this discussion is that I had some thing to contribute here. Moreover I do look and read every side of a discussion before giving a responds and if I do have any I may respond other wise I could see that some has already responded what I have to contribute. May some topics and contents are similar to other discussion I had already responded even though rarely I do respond. But mostly I like to respond to those which I had not responded before and I have some thing to contribute.

Thanks Sham,
I like helping people out. If it is a discussion requesting information I try to help. If I have nothing that will help and I can't find the information needed I usually leave the discussion alone.

I like them to be just a few sentences, but sometimes the question requires a story, and some times those stories are reallly interesting. Uually the title grabs my attention, sometimes the subject matter, but there is a part of me who does not want to respond when it is written in bad English, but I try to be understanding.
