I would like to know if anyone has any home remedies to help with the runny nose, itchy watery eyes and sneezes that come with having allergies. I sometimes take over the counter medicine but I find that even the none drousy type make me drousy so most of the time I just suffer until it goes away usually in the afternoon but all morning long I go through a box of tissue blowing my nose and wiping tears off my face it's terrible. I would like suggestions from anyone that uses a home remedy to cure their allergies or even a some?

This is a great topic Momathome...i have awful allergies this season, and everything the doc tells me doesnt work, the over the counter stuff doesnt work, and even if it did, i hate how they make me feel so i use them as little as possible. I do use Visin A.C for the itchy eyes and it works wonders on me. I am not familiar of any home remedies, but i will be surely keeping watch on this post for ones that are shared. Thanks so much for starting this discussion.

Buy yourself air purifier/filters if you have airc onditioning window units and keep your windows and doors closed. Dont buy those puny ones. Spend the money and get a really good one. If you have a 2 floor house, buy 2 heavy duty ones for each floor. You'll need one especial for your bedroom like I do if you are really allergenic. For what you constantly spend on OTC and prescriptions these will pay for themselves, believe me. If you have central air, call the people who put it in and ask for a special unit filter to put in to clean the air like the portable ones. Then all you do is change the special filters.

My wife and i have allergy. And as we both have asthma, all of our kids have astma too. When flu comes, my kids would have breathless. And if so, asthma attacks them. So, i think there is a way to prevent the allregy. It's a better way then taking some medicine because allergy can not be eliminated. What we can do is only to prevent and avoid the things will cause allergy.

I also suffer from asthma i'm lucky though that only certain times I need to use an inhaler. My allergy symptons only include the annoying sneezing, sniffles, watery itchy eyes though last night I was having a bit of an attack wheezing is not usually a sympton brought on by allergies for me.

Beware of food that causes allergy and try also taking sugar or chocolates or anything sweet. When I begin to experience itching because I ingested something I am allergic to, I would just eat a bar of chocolate or have a spoonful of brown sugar.

Building your immunity system over time to get rid of outdoor allergies, asthma wheezing is important. Raw honey in tea over time will do this for you. (Has pollen in it still.) Go get raw homey at a natural food store and use it daily. In time, you will get better!
Make sure it is RAW honey and not cooked. The person in the store can show you the right kind.
Asthma is only another name for allergies. An MD got my kids on raw honey and they had been in the hospital wheezing too often! Within a year they (all 3 of my kids!) showed no more symptoms and I am forever grateful to that doctor!

i can just tell u one home remedy what we do it at home basically.
in the night before going to sleep u can take steam, it is u need to boil some water ,add alittle haldi, n add a little tigerbalm or any other balm available with u n keep the bowl front of u n cover urself with the blanket n take the steam
on ur face n also try to breathe properly so that the steams enters ur nose also.
u have to cover urself with blanket coz while taking steam u need to sweat a lot , n its also important that u take good hot water steam to sweat properly, do this for about 2-3days n try n see is there any difference in ur health r u feeling fine or not. for us its good so we use it first before taking any medicines it relieves ur cold. n one more thing its better to take steam only before u sleep , after steaming u just go to bed n dont go out in air.
try this goodluck.

I just take Clairitin, the 24 hour dose, but I take it every 22 hours instead, or else I have a lapse in it working. As well, use good filters on your vaccuum, wash bedding frequently, etc... For my outdoor allergies, I use Flonase and eye drops on top of the Clairitin. For the most part, I keep the allergies under control that way
